Reabe's Celestial Lions - Hear the Lion Roar!

After a while of thinking and half-hearted converting of a DIY Space Marine Chapter ("The Emperor's Grandchildren", remenents of loyal Emperor's Children Space Marines that got lost in the wapr, etc. I know, bad idea.) I saw the old Armageddon 3 website. I took a liking to the Celestial Lions, if not for their colour scheme, then for the fact that there aren't many left to model!

I've decided that they show their company colours on their chest-eagles, and I'll be using a random colour for each Marine, showing how they've had to abandon normal squads and mix up members from different companies. The Reserve Company colours will be prominent rather than the normal company colours.

I know the gold is a bit dark, but I feel it looks good. Plus, I can't find the orange stuff that the other guy doing Celestial Lions has got!

looks good from the front, the rear looks a little too same-y though, perhaps adding blue more to the backpack or black, something that fits to vreak up the gold a little, apart from that I like, yet to see anotehr metal painted marine army since Iron Warriors

Armour: Chaos Black, Brazen Brass, dry brush Dwarf Bronze, Brown Ink, dry brush Shining Gold, highlight shining gold with Mithral Silver.
Blue: Basecoat Regal Blue, highlight Enchanted Blue.

I think I need to paint the vents black again, to help break up the gold a little bit on the back.

If you want a real nice blue try find spikys painting ultramarines guide. It has a real good way of painting blues and golds.

I can't wait for some more pics.

IMO i hate metallic marines but it is up to you. It might just be the pose.
Keep up the painting so we can have fun looking at the pics.

I'm getting ever so slightly closer to fully painting the armour of my first unit of Tactical Marines. I've just had my appendix taken out, so progress is so. However, I've been thinking about what else will be in the army and I've decided that there may be a Libarian, so I've painted up a Familiar. I had a inquisitor's servo skull lying around, so here it is:
