    Empire (Undead!) Cannon, pictures included!

So I was looking through my bits box, trying to find yet more ways to put off actually painting something in my army and came across half an Empire Cannon I got in a trade a while back. Well I thought to myself as my Vampire Counts army is based off the rotting corpses of the Empire why not make the cannon up to fit with my army and should the need arise I can always take it as a Dogs of War choice.

So I converted what was missing from the set, the front underpart of the chassis. Plus I added a couple of wheels I had lying around from another project, and with a bit of green stuff we are ready to go!

I have still to make the crew (Which will be converted from skeletons) but for now here is my undead, DoW cannon!

The wood is a little lacking in detail at the moment so I may add some painted on woodgrain at some point but for now it is good enough to game with.

@OnnO - The patina is so easy it would make you laugh. First you paint the surface with "Brazen Brass" (Yes I know it should be Copper but it just doesn't look as good as the brass) Next you wash the whole area with a very thin wash of "Jade Green" (This is an old Coat'd'Arms colour that GW no longer does unfortunately) Finally you drybrush the surface with "Brazen Brass" again, if you start light you can keep drybrushing until you reach a level of patina you are happy with.

As you can see from above I like a lot of the green to show through so I only lightly drybrush but it can be changed according to how you like it.

Also I noticed on the picture that I hadn't cleaned up the edges of the base with Black yet, well that has now been done.

    Looks very good

And if anyone wants to try, but does not have 'Jade Green', 'Scaly Green' mixed with white will get you the exact same colour if you get the ratios right.

looks ace! I shall be doing something similar but elss green, more wheels for my pirate themed empire. The arrows in the base are cool too, nice little touch that makes a model go from good to great

Great cannon, I love the worn, statue-like effect on the gun!

Re: Empire (Undead!) Cannon, pictures included!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone,

@ Lord of Skulls - Hey thanks for the colour mixing tip, my Jade green is getting low so I will try your tip to replace it soon.

@ Verm1s - The white putty is a cheap putty I bought out here, it is used for fixing up garage kits (A Japanese style model kit, usually anime girls, often nekkid) Its pretty much like brown stuff I think, hard but brittle.

Well I will start the crew as soon as I get time and then post them up here for all to see. Glad you liked it so far!

Re: Empire (Undead!) Cannon, pictures included!

Oh yea sparks, it was you who I got the cannon from!

No worries about not having it all, as you can see it didn't make that much of a difference, you had the most important bit, the cannon itself!

Thanks again everyone for the kind words, I will make some crew soon I swear it!
