Thread: Keep Akamanah working

    Re: Keep Akamanah working

Getting close to finishing the first of 2 six man CSM squads. I just have to say that I hate painting the original CSM plastics. I put a couple in each squad of CSM's as filler troops so they can be the first removed as casualties, but damn I just dislike them emencely(sp). I probably won't work on anything until next week since my birthdays coming up Saturday and I have a feeling I might need a little time to recover. Having your birthday on the drunkest holiday of the year is both a blessing and a curse, but mostly a blessing.

    Re: Keep Akamanah working

Alright I'm back! I got my Bday present from myself today from Battlewagon and I've been putting some stuff together since I opened it. So far it's looking like an Autarch, Farseer and a Chaos marine standard bearer will be put together tonight. Later I'll try to post an update, since it'll be the last picture update for another week. I'll be in portland oregon all next week so I won't be able to work on anything. Look for pictures later on.

Wow! A week away from posting? Must have been one heck of a hangover!

Looking forward to the updates. Intrigued by which Autarch you chose.

As promised I have a picture update. First is the Autarch. I have the Direct order Ranger and the Farseer with singing spear but there's nothing overly special about them to warrant a picture.

    Secondly the Chaos standard bearer

Alright I'm back from debauchery in other states, and this time I've got queastions. I showed the autarch above and I'm curious as to what color I should undercoat him white or black? My color scheme for the eldar is going to be a deep purple with white cloth and red as a secondary color. probably gold for metal bits and maybe for the weapons. When I get around to the eldar I want to try some new painting techniques like layering and highlights. Also sometime I need to get around to practicing my freehand pattern designs.

I'm a fan of black undercoats for purple models. Small areas of white are reasonably easy to do over black. You will need to pick a decent base colour for your white cloth. Scorched Brown for a boney finish, Shadow Grey for a blue tint or Codez Grey for a more white finish.

Cloth is a great way to practice layering. Just remember, don't rush it and only leave the base colour in the deepest points of recesses.

    PIP Farseer

I don't know if it's poor lighting or my computer but the colors are kinda hard for me to see, but the helmet and armour is purple. The brown parts will be gold and the grey parts will be red.
The white looks alot better in real life and I don't know what else I can do to it to make it look better.(Besides taking better pics)
    As always C&C is welcome.

Took pictures in the room I normally paint in, since it has better light than my dingy room. They're still not as good as I'd like but maybe a lil better than norm.
I added some more color to the Farseer, but now I'm at a snag of what color to do the spirit stones. I was thinking Green but I'm open to suggestions.
    The progress on the Farseer.

That looks pretty darn cool Ak. The colours work well together. Good work.

Thanks Catferret, it almost feels like I'm working just for you.
I got my wraithlords in the mail yesterday and I've already put them together. I was very eager to put them together. Picture update in a couple days cause I'm just too tired to do it now. That sounds like a good excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Yeah, I have minions to do my evil bidding!

As long as at least one person posts it should hopefully keep you going. I'm online a lot so will do my best to keep you motivated.

Super fast pictures cause the camera battery was dying. I'll post better pics when I get some paint on them.

I'm thinking of changing the base for the Shas'O to a flying base. I'm not sure.

Leave the Shaso as he is, he looks pretty stoic like that.

    Re: Keep Akamanah working

Something of a minor update. I based all of my painted Chaos marines, except for the chosen which I have to chop up skelies for.
Well I kept the Shas'O on the base , but I moved his head and plasma arm to be aiming forward. It makes the head to body connection look more solid in my opinion.
Now maybe if I stop wandering around on warseer I can get my Farseer finished.

got my Daemonhunters yesterday from a friend who doesn't play anymore. Since then I've been trying to change the look to something I'd like to look at. Should have some pics soon.

    Re: Keep Akamanah working

here is the finished Farseer minus a lil paint on the base, but I think I'm done with thte model itself.

I don't know how well the colors come out on other screens, and I know that the pics aren't professional quality, so sorry bout that. I'm not a big fan of really sharp highlights, so my highlights are alot more subtle and I don't know how that turns up in the pictures.

It's a good solid white you have there. Nice job. Subtle highlights look good. I can still see them so it isn't flat looking. Good work overall I'd say. Keep it up.
