Killgore's Death Korps and Phantom Titan log

now that I'v got some disposable income i bought a 40k Phantom titan on ebay and ordered some death korps from fw

the titan and a dk command squad arrived today, so far I'v cleaned the titan and gave it a good scrub with a old toothbrush

    heres the beastie placed together

note the wraithlord and imperial guardsmen for scale purposes haha

I'm not a great painter so luckily I play Ulthwe eldar, Black with grey edges and Bone/ white Trim with red gem stones

I'll sprey it tomorrow probaly as i got work in a min and wont finish till 11 tonight

I'v got some brilliant plans for banners, some featuring non other then Eddie the Head (iron maiden mascott) as a dark reaper haha

I'll get some photos of my other eldar models posted latter

Re: Killgore's Death Korps and Phantom Titan log

I'm not sure about basing it, something small like a revenant yeh, but this phantom stays upright pretty well without any support

mabey if i ever knock it over i might change my mind haha

btw if anyones got any rules for a phantom please pass them on to me, i dont care that their homemade, it'll help me in making up some of my own

I will be watching this closely as I have one of those titans that has sat in my cupboard for years now

Maybe this will get me to dig it out and inspire me to paint it at last....

there ya go, the guns and the 2 body sections are held together by large screws (the way it was designed), the instructions say that only the legs need gluing together, which I'll do after I'v painted them, the wings and head and shoulder pads stay inplace without need for glue

the rest of the death korps fw order arrived whilst i was at work today,

so probaly before i go to work tomorrow I'll have my DK Grenadiers cleaned and ready for a under coat

*edit* after lookin at the photo i just posted it seems the smaller of the two guns has bended abit >_< dunno if it was like that before i washed it... I'll try straighten it up tomorrow

Re: Killgore's Death Korps and Phantom Titan log

minor update, been very busy with Work, alcohol, listening to pompy get plastered by chelski on the radio and gaming

the titans still awaiting its first coat of paint and the DK command Squad was delayed to me not having the right colour of paint, this has been sorted and is proceding nicly

heres a picture of my Ulthwe army so far, taken with my camera phone on a low setting just so all can get the general idea of how my eldar's progressing

when its more "finished" will i crank out the digital camera and take better snaps

heres a group shot of my fully painted but unbased guardians and Fire Prism, i have another two squads not pictured, one with a very poor paint job and another wip

fully painted but unbased Wraithguard (12 more wip not pictured), dark reapers, fire dragons, scorpions and a small seer council (got some more warlocks but have poopy paintjobs)

alot more to be painted, 10 swooping hawks, 8 warp spiders, about 10-20 Howling Banashees (forgot how many i own), 10 rangers, some jetbikes, my Falcon needs a touch up so does my Vyper, some shining spears, 8 old dire avengers and 5 nice new ones, a wave serpent and a warwalker, and 2 more wraithlords, as well as the 20 guardians and 12 wraithguard mentioned erlier and the Titan

exsciting news, the local hobby scene has exploded again in my area with the local shop under new management and a player I'v never met before with 3 Baneblades! I look forward to destroying them, this news has spured me to speed up work on my Eldar so i can face this new threat with a fully painted army and fookin big titan!

You should be proud of the Autarch, he looks rockin'.

Why are there so many armorcast titans floating about the plogs all of a sudden?

chears for that cthorpe, but atm I'v been using a VDR website that calculates the points for me, luckily i still own my chapter aproved 02 book which has the rules for VDR

what I'v got so far, I'm still tweeking it, I'm going to upgrade the scatter laser to make it more powerful bwahaha

its the tallest warmachine made for 40k, of corse it must be badass! but one of my oponunts owns a baneblade and a shadow sword and one of those blinkin Tau Titan killing aircraft, i need to buy a Fire Storm from FW

Re: Killgore's Death Korps and Phantom Titan log

What weight class is it compared to, say, an Emperor titan? I ask because the generally concensed outlines I've seen for titans place the Emperor at 9 structure points.

I'd say knock down the structure points by 2 and replace them with Eldar Fields. It will save points cost and more properly represent the Phantom (at least IMO...). I'd also make it lumbering, as no matter what reace it may belong to, I can't see it being to agile.

The pic of your autarch looks as tho he still has flash attached to the bottom of his sword, where it meets the material flowing from under his arm

the phantoms the eldar equivilant of a warlord titan, thats why its structure points twice that of a warhound (its also twice as tall), i cant remember the exact rules offhand and i cant fetch my book as my legs in a cast and curently bed bound but i think agile is 12" movement? eldar titans are often quicker then imperial counterparts so 12" is fair, the revenant can move 24" ! its already got eldar fields, and a low armor to make it fluffy, even autocannons can chip away the structure points on this bad boy

And here was me thinking that the Revenant was big enough. I know TODDLERS smaller than that model!

It looks totally sweet, though, even if it does seem a bit like overkill Also, that's a nice paint job on the normal models.
