Way to go and nice painting. I wish more people made the effort to have a collection of civilians and I'm already admiring yours. My first own Chaos Dwarf miniature was a sculpted CD woman with cub, pointing husband or slaves around. If the model count of the army is insufficient for a tournament, civilians may even be conscripted. Such figures are by the way nice for RPG-style games.

Do you plan to get the Mordheim crazy mob one day? A large and colourful collection as yours almost demands it.

Thanks. I've started putting the civilians in some games, either as "objectives" (capture, kill, save, etc.) or just as movable features that have no effect on the game -- just to add flavor to the appearance of the game.

I've got a couple of the Frenzied Mob figures, but I'd like to get the rest. I believe I already painted the angry little girl. The monk with a torch has been prepped & primed, but I haven't started him yet.

I barely had time to start the next batch of figures. All I got done were the fleshy bits. (And some figures have more fleshy bits than others, if y'know what I mean...) I've still got more half-finished pike & spear models, but for some reason I'm stuck in a "civilian" mode. So the other two figures from the "Strumpets" pack, plus some old GW figures... perhaps customers (and a bouncer?) I think I will paint the guy on the right like Lord Farquaard.

    Re: Marienburg

Finished the remainder of the "Strumpets" pack. Only got a tiny bit of work done on the gentlemen.

I looked into the other available Reaper "Townsfolk" packs and think there are a few more I'd like to add to my collection...

    http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStor...sku-down/03233
    http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStor...sku-down/03123

There are a few more, but I think these are the only remaining packs I'm interested in at the moment.

Starting to think about a city themed gaming table now. Even drew up some plans. Also thinking about the old (I mean really old) GW scenario packs, where you played smaller games of Warhammer with strong RPG elements. Could be fun to come up with something new like that.

The strumpets look good, especially the older lady's skirt.

Maybe this miniature would be of interest? http://www.victorialamb.com/wugs/ori...l%20noble.html

If planning a city gaming table, don't miss this log as a source of inspiration, especially for details like statues: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...Mordheim/page7

    Or this site: http://www.tabletop-world.com/

This city table isn't too shabby: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...=1#post6195816

Even though they were way before my time, I actually miss the old scenario packs from GW. Something with them seem timeless for wargamers. I've looked at some vintage sites on both miniatures and the scenario packs they often were released with. Both me and my brother agree the scenarios with a roleplaying touch were great concepts worthy to be picked up again by driven gamers. Who can't but love the old multiplayer scenario "Orc's Drift" were two small elven and dwarfen armies face off several large orc tribes. The Greenskin side was rife with backstabbing, whereas the elf player was instructed to play a trifle deaf. This meant he had to ask the dwarf ally to repeat everything he said. On the other hand the dwarf player was instructed that the elf did not have as bad hearing as he seem to have, and should thus ignore questions to repeat.

I'd like to see you come up with something new in that kind of vein.

    Re: Marienburg

Started modeling the Chevaliers l'Eléphant. Going to try two of them first. Riders are de-chaos-ified and assembled. Have some gap filling & details to do, but I'm going to keep them fairly simple. My original plan was to put a caparison on each elephant. I'm still thinking of doing that, but having a few minor doubts. Also need to make up my mind how to do that -- most likely just do it with putty, but had considered trying to to use sheet styrene or a combo of the styrene + putty.

Realized that I'd be starting off with a unit of three, so figured I may as well get all three ready at once.

Awww, those are the cutest Demi-Griffon Knights evva!

But they'll be great once you've done some work on them. The knights look good, distinctively different from the Marienburgers, which I think will make them stand out as exotic mercenaries.

Yeah, I plan on making the elephants look a little more ferocious... tusks, maybe some bits of armour & spikes...

    Re: Marienburg

I've updated the first page. My project list was waaay out of date, and it was really an inconvenient way for me to keep track of what I'm doing. Google Docs to the rescue! Plus I've gone through some more boxes & counted figures up (and found more that I dind't know I had!)

If you're really curious to see the numbers of painted, WIP, and unpainted (plus totals) you can view the spreadsheet at:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...W5ERFkxT2pqQkE

    Also, here's the new stuff...

Civilian/militia (love this old figure!) and what I'm considering to be either an envoy from the east or perhaps a mercenary mage (AEG figure from Clan Wars.)

And some more pike & spear. Still plugging away at them!

Trying out a new color scheme. Just on one figure for the moment.

I've got another small group almost finished in a red & yellow scheme.

I think I need to do some more 3-color schemes (red/green/white, blue/orange/yellow, red/yellow/black, etc.) again. Plus new color combos like the one above or more of that test figure I did in brown & grey a while ago.

    Re: Marienburg

It wouldn't be too much of a push to greenstuff some elephant armour?

Imported elephant cavalry featuring armour gilded in precious metals... very posh!

So far as your state troops are concerned, I always liked the idea of Marienburg troops in a dark golden yellow plus imperial purple colour scheme... hell I may even paint one up myself just to see if it looks any good or whether its just another one of my delusional army ideas.

Here's a WIP shot of the latest mercenary recruit, great orc greatsword.

    Re: Marienburg

Some thing you can do to make the elephants look more ferocious would be to put blades on the tusks and bits of chain on the trunks. These were all common practices in india and look quite bad ass. great painting!

    Re: Marienburg

First up, I owe you my apologies... I somehow managed to miss this plog, until this week! I took some time leafing through all the pages and I must say I found it very inspiring. Great use of classic models (of which I'm a huge fan!) and quite stunning paintwork.

I noticed you've been working on this for quite some time, great to see you're still at it! I must see to it that I get my hands on some of those Landsknecht mini's, they'll look great in my army...
Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...
Get your ale while it's still hot! And discover why Stirland should rule The Empire...

I love that orc. What was the base model that you used?

I am not so keen on the elephants, they look wrong for the army, but the rest of the work here is inspiring! Keep it up! :-)

Nice painting as always. I'm not sold on the elephants, they look like cute baby elephants in the wrong scale.

I like the riot of colours, I use something like it on my Thirty Years War army.
