VC want to see's...

I personally can't wait to see what GW has in store for the VC's once there re-done, so i thought it would be intresting to see what players would like to see new for the fanged lords of the night
I would like to see...
Werewolfs - maybe a fast attacking hero
Flesh golems - ogre sized special unit for Necrach list's (after all they do wierd experiments combining creatures)
New blood line or improvement's on existing one's
The living! - mortal followers of certain blood lines ie carstein, lahmian and the charnel gaurd thingy.
Witch's replacing hero level necromancer's (maybe )
I could think of many more but what would you like to see?

Not sure if this is what you meant, but I'd like to see a dedicated Necromancer army. With Necromancers who can stick up for themselves, and dont need a lot of pointy toothed guys to do all the fighting for them.

I think that the Vampires would be done amazingly IF the army had a complete makeover including the Zombies *even though they are not bad*.

The next thing that is a must is the feel of the Vampire Counts, they must feel like an army in all respects not some stupid rabbel with some super hard Vamps in the force.

In terms of rules I think they are fine need some twists and turns here and there to tune it up but I think the Vampire imagery should rule above all else.

I think we need to see some new models for Zombies (without comedy hands) and Strigoi (not crap this time please). More of a theme for the armies would be good too - I like the Von Carstein army in Storm of Chaos.

I think the best way would be to fiddle around with what counts as special etc. Perhaps ghouls shouldn't count towards the minimum number of core choices except in a Strigoi army. Black Knights should be Core in a Blood Dragons army, but Ghouls count as Rare. Things like that...

Oh, and I'd like to see some sort of point in taking Wraths or Wights. At the moment they just aren't as good as Thralls. Personally, I reckon Wraiths ought to be Magic Level 1, or have some sort of bound spell to represent the fact that they used to be necromancers. Not sure what to do with Wights - they don't deserve better stats.

eh currently the VC list is one of the most stable and easily one of the better lists release.

Only things i have a issue with is wraiths being worthless.

Werewolf? Nah. It´s Vampire counts. Not Werewolf counts. And vertainly not "Assembled Horror genre casting" counts. Apart from that, Carstein do have Wolf Form.


Who needs Werewolfs anyways, Vampires are among the hardest warriors, no need for further choices in that direction.

€: Flesh Golems? Use Golgfags Ogres and convert them yourself.

I think they should be called Undead again...collectively, the children of nagash. The list is sound, although abusable. However, it doesn't really feel like an army. 2 units of skeletons, a grave guard, a black knight, a coach, a swarm of fell bats and some zombies and ghouls could be led by anyone. I think they should be divided into mini-lists, much like the sylvania one. Blood dragons could have wights as unit champions, strigoi can join ghoul units, lahmians are primarily skeleton and zombies but they can take swains, and the necrarch can have some constructs. The necromancer list would, obviously, be the most versatile of these lists. If they can do this in Codex Chaos Space Marines for 9 different legions, y not in Vampire Counts for 5 different bloodlines and a standard necromancer list?

i would like to see that the von carstein bloodline also gets an special power like the rest of the bloodlines for example al Von carstein vampires have the aura of dark majesty power standard.

also i think that in an army below 2000 points you should be able to take an vampire thrall as your army general. it is an vampire counts army so they should be led by an vampire.

I'd like to see a slight tweak allowing strigoi to join ghouls - they're the ghoul masters after all, but can't actually go in a unit with them?!? Along the same lines I'd like a strigoi wth bat form to be able to join fell bats, but that breaks one of the main rules (characters joining flyers), so i don't think it's as likely to happen.

The appendix lists at the back of the book are awesome for theming armies, i use the blood dragon one myself. Only problem is that you can't take them to tournaments and you need your opponents permission.. but they seem balanced enough. Would definatly like to see some special characters for each of the bloodlines though, a strigoi or blood dragon character would have great background i think.

Hah, the problem is.. they are in fact NOT balanced.. especially the Necromancer and Blood Dragon lists.

I do like the Strigoi one though.

Huh? I think the appendix lists in the VC book are some of the worst one ever. Limited, boring and far from balanced. The necromancer list is just sick, multiple dragons in 2k, swains etc.

I really, really hope that they are just forgotten when the book is to be revised.


I think the list is basically sound as it is. I wouldn't want to see big changes to it. Maybe a few tweaks based on what blood line you play. Like not having ghouls count for core unless your Strigoi, wolves unless your Carstain. Small things like that. But not make it so that you force people to much. It should still be possible to play something thats not your typical *insert bloodline here* list. Taking blood dragons shouldn't force you to make a wright cavalry list etc.

Would also like to see a greater variarity in the equipment available for skeletons. Might not be much use now, but hopefully they can fix weapons for next edition.


Just small tweaks to the way the army is now. I think it's really sound, flexible and fun to play. A few things need rebalancing(like ghouls, 8 points is way to cheap), but it would also depend on how fear ends up working in next edition.

Vampire characters shouldnt suffer extra wounds in combat- they should take break tests if their unit is destroyed alone. I fundamentally disagree with the idea of a vampire/man (necro) disintegrating because there are a lot of people pushing him.

Yes, I definitely agree with that. At the very least, a Vampire shouldn't be able to lose his last wound from combat resolution. I recall one battle I fought where I only lost the combat because I charged a few zombies in as well and they got smashed- why should that weaken the vampire himself?

I use a werewolf as my doom wolf as I think he fits the bill and leads the dire wolves as their champion.
really you just need some imagination to play around an convert the models you want to the current rules. I think they're an excellent list and it'll be a long time before they re-do them again.

The VC list is a solid one. It has no useless units and the units are quite balance by my opinion. The one thing that makes the list a little too tough is the magic. I think they would be a lot more balanced if the lore would be toned down even a bit, perhaps you could make the vanhel and nehek require a line of sight, I see no reason why they shouldn´t. The magic item list needs a little bit of work too, they have no useful magic weapons, but they have plenty of good bound spells and protective gear, changing this might influence the way VC lists are normally build. Make these changes and replace the horrible figures with new ones and I would be a happy camper...
