Yes, that's what I tought first too.

But there is a point to this list here on Warseer in this particular place: Here people just select to their own preferences, so the list will be biased - in a good way.

I think it is a good idea.

If someone just wants to have a list all manufacturers, though, there are worse choices than to go to [TMP] linked above.

Steiner, yep, there are miniature producer directories out there.

But having one here gives a nice vanue for us to post our personal views on the companies mentioned, which some folks might find useful.
And there's those who stumble here in a fit of boredom or distraction and just might be convinced to give it a try

    Re: Historical Figures

Perhaps we could keep the direct links to personal recommendations, and include the links to other compilations for those interested in "deeper reading"?

    Re: Historical Figures

I think we should keep it as simple as possible and the description blurb should be enough to tell people what these companies do. Depends what exactly you mean by deeper reading.

Dont forget Vendel miniatures. Never used them personally but they are supposed to be the "gripping beast" of early antiquity.

what? Black Scorpion isn't on the list? They make some of the best Old West figs I've ever seen. They also make some fantastic modern US Marines and Iraqi militia minis.

Do a nice range of US and German WW2, plus a few other odds and ends available. I got a sizable pile of Germans for a decent price

Well, for me it's 6mm ancients all the way at:

    www.baccus6mm.com

Fantastic quality and a great range, have bought loads of ancient Persians and Greeks (the Greek hoplites are gradually being painted up into 300 Spartans).

A brilliant way to build up very grand looking armies with a reasonable price tag.

For basing I use 3 15mmx40mm stands to make up one unit.

Italeri models are good plastic ones. at 1:72 i believe (OO gauge, about 20mm?) They're fairly widespread in model shops.

    Heyas -

I didn't see Brigade Games anywhere

    http://www.brigadegames.com/

Lots of great WWI, WWII, Pulp, Lawn Gnomes (they rock, actually), Victorian, Western (think Not Deadwood) and other stuff. Mainly 28mm.

Among the best!!!! One downside is that spear and javelin carrying troops need to have their weapon-hands drilled and wires (that you provide)inserted in the drilled hands. The end results are well worth the efforts.

I'm fond of HäT and Zvezda but for a complete list of all plastic maufacturers check out the Plastic Soldier Review for all 1:72 scale miniatures:

Try http://www.albanminiatures.com for possibly the best Napoleonic Miniatures you will ever have seen for painting and wargaming. The range is new to the market, growing and there is a set of rules from tfl (twofatlardies) to accompany thes figures.

    Great stuff!
