    Re: Historical Figures

I agree with the words about Conquest Game's Normans. I will be getting more of them....hellooo Warstore. Get my Perry's, Immortals, Conquest Games, etc. there.

I am eager for more releases from Conquest Games. By the by....there is a bonus, there are a total of 3, yes 3, riders plus equipment beyond 12 in the box. THAT is in addition to the dead/wounded horse and rider in the box.

Oh yes....12 cavalry, Sir Caught One and his horse plus three extra equipped riders (just find some extra horses).

If I remember correctly you can order sprues of just the horses from Conquest Games.

Edit: yep, 3 to a sprue, 3.75 GBP each, or bundles of 3 or 5 sprues.

    Codsticker

Thanks for the tip about the horses. I'll check to see if my "this side of the Pond" indie site can get the extras I want/need.

I plan to order some more boxes of CG's Normans, from my site indie, I'll try then. I just may have to order direct from Conquest Games.

    Zvezda

Produce a very large variety of plastic kits ranging from 1/100 (15mm) to 1/35 (just under 54mm).

Of most interest to wargamers is their large 1/72 range and their rapidly expanding 15mm 1942 range.

Most places with a good selection of scale model kits will stock them such as here

    Re: Historical Figures

The Perry Twins have crammed out a new hard plastic kit, this time Mahdists: http://www.perry-miniatures.com/index2.html

Whilst applauding their splendid swathe of plastic kits, I truly wonder if all the kits repay their investment costs. I'll be glad at least to pick up a bucketload of Perry historical miniatures in three-five years time. Personally, I think it'd be clever of the Perry twins to now do plastic Japanese infantry/samurai, First World War soldiers, Romans and a kit with 17th century pirates. Such plastics would find a sure market.

(Except for its obvious use in historical gaming, those tribesmen could make for a nice little Southlands warband, with a few trophies from Savage Orcs, Lizardmen and Beastmen.)

    Re: Historical Figures

At Historicon 2011 all events ticket buyers got a (small) free sprue of the Mahdist command figures. They do look GOOD. I plan to get a couple of boxes of the "fuzzy wuzzies" minies.

I'm going to try and come up with some ideas for some adventurous braves from the Southlands (or similar) in a Warhammer skirmish setting. Need to think of one or ideas for exotic animals, all I can think of so far though is angry elephants and camels! Need fluff...

    Re: Historical Figures

Decades ago in "adventure movies" fuzzy wuzzies fought against the British soldiers. One movie....The four Feathers (had a remake towards the end of the 20th Cent.).

The minies look to be usable for Ancients up to the 20th Cent.

Well, you've got lions, hyenas and crocodiles from the real world, aside from Southland Beastmen monsters such as gnu Minotaurs, baboon Ungors and leopard Gors. Also you've got generic fantasy giant gorillas (King Kong style), Lizardmen Southland monsters such as Horned Ones and Carnosaurs. Native pygmy tribes (as can be found in Lustria, too) also spring to mind. These were just made up in less than half a minute, so let your imagination guide you.

    Re: Historical Figures

Does anyone have pictures of some of the Old Glory 28mm models for,

    CRUSADERS:
    Knight Templars in Surcoat, mounted
    Dismounted Knights

    PART 2 THE AGINCOURT WAR
    Mounted and Dismounted English Men-at-arms
    Mounted and Dismounted French Men-at-arms

I tried searching for some pictures of these models but I haven't really found anything (nothing up on their website either). If you know where i can find pictures or if you can just post them up on the thread it would help me a lot.

The Conquest Games' Norman Knights are really nice to put together, too, I'm painting some up for a commission.

    Re: Historical Figures

I have a couple of Conquest's Norman knights just about done. I still have not started on the (bonus minie) downed horse and rider that comes in the box of 12. The ones I am still painting are the extra 3 riders that come with the 12, done already.

At Historicon 2011, the stacks (at 2 different merchants) of Conquests Games, Norman Knights seemed to be selling briskly Friday and again Saturday.

Here's hoping the company releases at least one more box of goodies to the still (semi) new one already out there....soon!

It looks like your wish will soon be granted.

There are some archers planned as well but they will be metal.

Plastic Soldier Company - has anyone mentioned them? WW2 in 15, 20 and 28mm. Tanks and infantry, for cheap, in hard plastic. Dead good stuff all round!

For the love of gawd, I hope they don't do Norman archers in jumpsuits like everyone else seems to want to include in their collections!

Plastic Norman infantry will be the end of it for me though: how many times can one person reboot their Norman army? That'll be #4...
