Re: "ZOMG! Doctor Who (& Torchwood)!"

Eh. Just watching the opening sequence made me sure I'd hate this episode. Quarter of the episode left and nothing has challenged that impression.

Is this season just an extended rant about science and industry being terrible?

Also... that ending (for the station people). There is zero reason

Also... the other ending. The melodrama! Gasp! Shock!

So... is this going to last for half the next episode, or just a quarter?

The episode was only worth watching for the season arc bits and the trailer for next week. It was even worse than the London frozen Thames episode. Still not as bad as anything from the last full season though.

    Okay episode I guess.
Space station was stupid as was the plot but I guess it has to be stupid otherwise it wouldn't be Doctor Who.
Decent banter between the Doctor, Nardole and Bill at least.

I'm not liking Nardole. he was amusing in Husbands of River Song, but so far he's just been whiny and rather unnecessary. Being under the Doctor's orders to order the Doctor to stay and babysit doesn't work, because the Doctor just says screw it and comes back anyway before the tea gets cold.

    Wow. That was... Really terrible.

There were a few interesting bits that had nothing to do with the actual story.

But it was very obviously written by someone with no concept of computers, or any sense or sanity.

Computers and random numbers: seriously, no. While they arent great at true randomness, varying numbers for multiple function calls is absurdly easy.

'Even the tiniest program can send email' - er, no. Seriously no, there is any reason for the 'programs' to have that functionality. There isn't even any reason for the system to have that kind of access or functionality.

This season is becoming increasingly baffling and nonsensical. The payoff with the Vault better be worth it, because the filler is awful.

    Yes, Moffat wrote the episode.
Don't worry though, next week we've got Peter Harness(he wrote Kill the Moon!) helping Moffat write the second part of the episode where the aliens actually invade.

Maybe they'll get beaten by their reliance on a not random random number generator.

Re: "ZOMG! Doctor Who (& Torchwood)!"

Last season was the absurdly anti-war and especially anti soldier, this one seems anti science, which is baffling for Dr. Who.

I like the remote control of analog watches, absurdly young supreme generals, and the complete lack of any need for the prior episode.

The acting is also really I've never heard a more lackadaisical and uninterested mayday call, and the general dialogue just drones on and on without going anywhere. Amazingly boring incoherent gibberish. Power is consent, love is slavery, fear is impure? They do understand that they want to produce something entertaining, interesting and/or vaguely thought provoking? The actors could barely stagger through their lines.

But then watching a video in the digital age is supposed to be absolute proof, somehow.

This last set of comments doesn't bode well. I still haven't watched episode 4 or beyond yet - take that as a sign of my enthusiasm for this series so far...
