Ok Im turning this into my Terrain/Lizardmen Blog

Hi guys I've been lurking around the Terrain forum for a while trying to get ideas.
well I finaly got around to taking pictures of my work.




Now I have been making
this for a friend of mine, and I actually don't have any models or the codex.

so i'm doing a lot of guessing.
and wondering if you guys think would this stuff sell on E-bay or something?
but mostly if you think it's kool and maybe somthing you wouldn't mind seeing on
your table?

About my terrain:
I am only using expanded polystyrene, cerial boxes pva glue, sand, cheap acrylic paint, Krylon H2O spray primer, spray wood stain, clear spray, a few cheap plastic plants, hot glue and some lichen, and oddly a soldering iron.

the big things are 2 bunkers made mostly from a single piece of packing foam.

I also made some adobe ruins and some rocks from packing foam but i don't have the pics yet, because my friend has them...

I really like your bunker, as I know I've got some similiar chunks of foam hoarded away in my own closet, so I now have a use for them. Huzza!

The 3d islands look nice too, can't say the turret really does it for me, kind of nice battletech scenery in an arhaic way though.

yea the turret is real basic...
it's made from a electrical tape package,
a bottle cap, a safety seal, a twist tie
(to hold the guns on),a free cd, and random plastic thingie.

it used to swivel around before i painted it a lot.
at least they still aim up and down.

My idea was that it was an anchent automated turret,
that had seen a lot of action was fairly rusted, and posibly
in desrepair.

Interesting stuff. How high are the bunkers? They look small by the camera angle, but I imagine by the bunker width they'd be fairly tall.

Actual they are big enough for a standard space marine rhino.
also the metal plates on the to are removable for easy access.





ps. what do you think of my battle damage and rust?

update:

i'm putting openings in the front of the bunkers
so you can actualy shoot from them ... I should
have pics as soon as im finished.

also I started making a bit of ruins with a grape stem tree on it
(I heard this was a good idea) we shall see how this tuurns out.

The rusty metal plates and corrugated(sp?) iron plates are wicked! Would be good for making CoD/Necromunda walls. Is it just card?

Bunker is looking really good - i like the fact, that there are accespoints... And you are right, people are far to afraid to use cardboard and the like as materials, i just built a Leviathan out of primarily card, so its good enough.....

Keep the updates coming, everything is looking really good

The bunkers look good, but the problem with using styrofoam is that, well, it looks like stryofoam. Mix up some textured paint using whatever spare craft paint you have (I use black) and some sand or fine ballast and paint over all of the styrofoam parts. It will give it some good concrete-like texture and disguise the origins better.

Overall though, your terrain is looking great a few simple steps can make it even better.

A good use of styrofoam. The price is usually very good too The best part is friends/fellow gamers just may want you to "do one for them". It's a good way to pick a little money OR be owed favors.

OK I got bored and did a little side project from a scrap picec of foam I cut from one of the doors.

first i nibbled with a pair of snips till it looked nice and ruined.
then i glued a bit if grape stem for a tree.



then I primed it with Krylon H2O



then I proceeded to paint it starting with dark grey drybrushing working my way up to off white.



but impatiently I didn't wait until my primer was dry and the cheep paint I recently bought lessened the primers protection. so when i sprayed a clear coat on the lichen the whole thing started to melt. I drastically applied glue and sand and eventualy I saved it.



So instead of ruins I got Rocks... oh well It still looks kool.
(sorry I can't get better picks my camera is on the fritz.)

Some of the best stuff is stuff made free of GW sprues. Although I use a lot of their battlefield accessories and what not I don't actually own any of the building sprues. The pics of the actual bunkers are great- very helpful.

btw. what did you use to prime the bunker? i am still kinda clueless, since i dont want to prime my polystyrene parts with a brush x_X

even if it was an accident i like how that ruin turned out to be a rock
