Red`s Necromunda Gang WiP

It was my intention to do so but I figured that denim and white t-shirts is a statement as well, a Turbonegro (the band) statement But I`ve only painted two of them so I can still add some variation to it all.

Yupp them gor arms are really nice for a hulking look, not that hard to trim away the small amount of fur on them and the muscle definition is suberb!

Yeah it all just fell into place with the ratskin scout, the blunderbuss is the crown yewel on that mini imo also.
True about the shotgun, but if you see the size of these guys and imagine that this guy is just leaning out from a corner, wanting to reduce himself as a target ya kinda get the picture.
Flesh; white basecoat, brown ink all skin areas, layer tanned flesh, then 1-2 layers of diluted dwarf flesh.
Can`t promise anything yet about the ratskin, main priority is the actual gang I`v got at the moment. So the two next minis up for painting are the boltgunner & the "scout"

I`ll have to start and say sorry for those who hoped there was a pic with this "update"...now I`m almost done with the boltgun ganger but I kinda met the wall on his shades

1. Shades:
I think they`re quite similar to the elysian ones, so does anyone have a close-up of it? Preferably green or blue.

2. Vest
Got quite a handfull of gangers with vests. Really unsure on wether to continue the denim look or try for something else. I want to try and keep red out of the picture cause that`s just a bit to "GW-Orlocky" for me. Black could work I guess even if I suck at highlighting it. Perhaps I should do it just to learn it?

3. Motifs
Tattoos where mentioned some posts ago but I started thinking on something a tad different after reading through Doghouse`s brilliant Cosmic Space Marines (of doom) blog. How about taking some really classic t-shirt motifs and painting them on my gangers just to add to the civilians w/guns look?

Ah well, hopefully I`ll complete the boltgun ganger by tomorrow evening. After that scouty is next (the crouching one).

The jackets could be done black (leather) with a gang enblem on the back (for those without packs). As for highlighting, my trick with leather is to highlight the beejeezus out of it then a watered down ink to give it a 'newish' shine, it also dulls the exreme highlights.

Your point 3 is a great idea, simply cool. I can see a LEVIS knock off, what about a "I'm with stupid" tee? I soooo can't wait for this.

Try highlighting black by adding Hawk Turquoise. Keep it subtle too. The bluish tint will tie the black in with the rest of the colours on your models.

Here`s Mr.Boltgun ganger himself:

Some red snuck in even if I thought I could avoid it...still it complements the entire model very nicely so I`ll be doing that red on all of my guns where it`s appropiate.

Paintingthe gun casing in a contrasting colour really does make a world of difference.

I have been sorely tempted to paint all my gun casings. The chrome finish was meant to represent their technological superiority but doesn't look that good compared to the green lasgun on my Ratskin...

It sure does, I was positively surprised when I was done with it. I actually did it DA style as I thought it would suit the gang best.

I can see your painting skills are good, but the Catachan models are ugly as sin. I can't help but feel you should have invested in an original Necromunda gang.

Yeah I kinda know what you`re saying here but the metal catachan minis are actually quite nice imo. The plastics are inferior compared to them but they do their job It`s a challenge paint-wise also since you really need to step it up with those plastic catachans to actually make them look good. Do NOT get me started on the annoying arms with the worst muscle definition EVER

Ah well, back to painting lol
