    Perhaps a world in flames?
Ruined buildings, burning from Chaos activity/uncontrolled Psyker activity?
Or a Rhino or Chimera... like they had no other way to stop the vehicle, take out the Psyker to "treat" him
Contact with alien races always renews ones faith in humanity. It is my belief that foreign travel narrows the mind wonderfully.

A chaos tample causing the psyker to lose control over his powers so that there is no other option than to execute him.
    Welcome to 40k.... :P

    Cheers for the ideas dudes!

I think I'm gonna try and go for a slum background on this one.

    Another WIP...

Added the slums in the background, gonna make it very painterly - almost palette knife like.

    More work in prog...

More work done on the background. Also changed the composition a little.

Still trying for that more dynamic, fluidity I was talking about.

The houses look more like nowadays slums. I would add some 'gothic' look by doing either typical windows or supporting columns on the edges. Otherwise this one is making good progress.

PS: The person pointing and the psyker looks like a zombie.

For the mo it's all very sketchy - gotta add more details and textures into the background.

The woman in the background is gonna be recoiling in fear. Once I get the rendering done on her I'm sure she won't look zombie-like then!

    FINISHED

    The Emperor's Grace

Leopold had been part Inquisitor Payne's retinue for over a decade. Payne's investigations into cult activity on the plague-ridden world of Fulgrad had unfortunately led to the daemonic possession of Leo. With a clenched jaw, Paye raised his Bolt pistol...

...and the Bolt pistol's Aquila kinda looked strange as it missed one part of his one wing.
And the woman's nose seems to be a little bit big.

Other than that I have to say that your scetches become better and better. You manage to capture the 40k's atmosphere quite well... not to mention that those scetches look simply amazing.

    Thanks DK!

Agreed of the woman's nose! Although, then again, she could just be a lady with a big nose?

The Bolt Pistol has a skull with wings icon on it rather than the full Imperial Aquila.

This is a WIP of my latest pic.

The subject is Assault Troops so I've gone for an Eldar Fire Dragon. Something's not quite right though but I just can't spot it - any ideas dudes?

hes not bracing himself and his right (your left) shoulder seems a bit high. other than that its looking good. might not be slender enough too? legs seem kinda muscle-bound for an eldar (or the armor is bigger than norm)

The proportions I think, his body appears a bit too large for an eldar. And the "showing of armpit", a very good rule of thumb to get good and non-strained poses is not to show/air-out the armpit. It's a staple-rule in many Aikido techniques and it gives a nice and non-strained pose as well

Yeah, looking at it with a fresh pair of eyes helps me see that. He is a tad beefy!

Might spread his legs more, add more tension to his pose.

Right, gonna come back to the Fire Dragon once I've nailed the Eldar anatomy!

    Anyway, here's a replacement pic!

I was not too happy with the Warp Spider but the Striking Scorpion looks good.
I like the motion in this piece and all of the proportions look right... well maybe the lower body doesn't.
Hmmm... to be honest his butt looks somehow deformed. I think you should go over this again cause then it would look great overall.

I think the closest leg just needs to be sightly higher at the hip to fix this?
