    500 pts Chaos vs Tyranids

Hi all, this battle was my first with my new iron warriors (I only painted em like iron warriors, I will use the normal list cause then I can have berzerkers) and my opponent used my tyranids as we all know that necrons are very boring at 500 points. The lists were as follow:

    Chaos

    Chaos Lietuenant
MoCU, Power Weapon, D. Strength, Bolt Pistol, Krak Grenades 78 points

    8 Chaos Space Marines
Aspiring Champion with bolt pistol and powerfist, Bolters, 1 Heavy Bolter, 1 Plasma Gun 156

    8 Chaos Space Marines
    Exactly as above

    Chaos Dreadnought
    D. Possession, Additional Close-combat arm 110

    Tyranids

    Broodlord
    Extended Carapace
    5 Genestealers
    Scything Talons, Extended Carapace, Fleshhooks

    6 Genestealers
    Extended Carapace 120

    6 Genestealers
    Extended Carapace 120

    1 Zoanthrope
    Warp Blast 55

    Terrain:
The terrain was quite sparse, with a wood to the right from the chaos deployment zone, and a couple of barrciades positioned to look like a wrecked house. Another barricade was to the left of the wrecked house and that was pretty much it.

    Deployment:
Chaos went first with placing the dreadnough somewhat left of the barricades and as far out as possible. The tyranid Zoanthrope was deployed in the left corner.
A squad of marines went into the wrecked house and the other behind the lone barricade. The first genestealer brood was placed opposite to the house and the second behind the wood out of sight. The broodlord and his retinue infiltrated into the woods.

    Lets get started then!

    Chaos turn 1:
The lietuenant ripped the space marines head clean of and roared at the skies. They had been on the planet for barely a week and had already encountered both tyranid beasts and the paltry worshippers of the corpse-god. Suddenly his own roar was defied by one in the distance. His augmented senses immediatly picked up the smell of tyranids. The lietuenant quickly ordered his small band of Iron Warriors to take cover and prepare to fight off any tyranids that might cross their path. The massive dreadnought turned towards the approaching tyranids and took a few steps towards them before the daemon inside remembered that it must stick to the plan. The heavy bolters of the band opened up against the charging tyranids, tearing through three of the large beasts. The combi-bolters of the Dreadnought also opened up but the daemon inside was too busy trying to remember the plan to actually try to aim.

    Tyranid turn 1:
The Broodlord sniffed in the air and continued to stalk through the woods. Suddenly the loud bark of the enemy weapons told him the their presence was no longer a secret. Via the mental link he maintained he ordered his fellow genestealers to pick up the pace. They burst out of the wood staring down the barrels of entire space marine squad...

    Chaos turn 2:
The lieutenant had noticed the enemy leader and his retinue trying to stalk them just before they burst out from the woods and as such had time to order his squads to counter the new threat. The nearest squad opened fire at almost point-blank range but the enhanced armor of the genestealers protected them well against the small arms fire. The plasma gun and the heavy bolter on the other hand destroyed all but the broodlord and two of the genestealers. Suddenly a mechanical roar echoed across the field as the dreadnought no longer bothered with any plans, it charged headlong towards the floating thing that it couldnīt quite figure out what it was. It was however met by a far more potent enemy. The genestealers that had survived the first barrage bounded towards the dreadnought.

    Tyranid turn 2:
The Broodlord and the last of his retinue finally came to grips with one of the enemy packs that were hiding in the building. A spray of ichor and carapace was showred over the marines as the genestealer tore into their ranks. The powerful claws of the beast tore apart three marines before the aspiring champion could smash it in the face with his powerfist. Unfortunately for the remaining marines, the Broodlord launched itself across the barricade. Its massive claws shredded the remaining marines in a heart beat leaving only the champion to face it. The genestealers assaulting the dreadnought on the other hand failed miserably to do any damage. That didnīt really matter as the Daemon suddenly forgot what it was doing and started spinning around to search for any targets, despite the genestealers that were clambering over it.

    Chaos turn 3:
The lietuenant stared in amazement for a moment as the massive Broodlord in front of him easily lifted the aspiring champion of the ground and the ripping him in two. The champions deaht bought the lieutenant enough time to bury his axe in the shoulder of the huge beast.
The Dreadnought suddenly realised that the enemies it had been searching for was crawling all over it and managed to rip apart two of them, leaving a single genestealer to face the dreadnought.

    Tyranid turn 3:
The Dreadnought suddenly rocked as the genestealer suddenly found the joint between one of the dreadnought arms and the body. The weak joint was no match for the powerful claws of a genestealer and the arm was ripped clean off. In the meantime, the Broodlord was busy tearing of the lietuenants head, slowly and painfully.
The dreadnought managed to tear apart the last genetsealer clamering over it with the remaining arm and spotted the floating thing that was busy bombarding the remaining marines, who were hiding behind a barricade.

    Chaos turn 4:
With a howl, the Dreadnought charged into the floating thing, its massive bulk crushing the Zoanthrope.

    Tyranid turn 4:
Meanwhile, the Broodlord threw itself into the hiding chaos marines, tering apart two of them and biting the head of another.

    Chaos turn 5:
The Broodlord killed another three marines, easily punching through even their awesome armor. Luckily for the marines, the champion managed to swing his powerfist straight into the axe the already were embedded quite deep into the broodlords chest. This was the deathknell for the beast and it slumped to the ground in a pool of purple blood

    Summary:
First, let me say that I wouldīve gotten pictures but our camera didnīt have any batteries. Second, this was an awesome game that was great fun. Model of the match easily goes to the Broodlord for almost ripping through two chaos space marine squads on his own. That was sweet!

Hope you all enjoyed this read (even though it was quite long) and that you give me some nice replies

Loved it, pics weren't even necessary to make this one easy to follow (thanks as well to the small scale). Your sadistical nature is apparent from the way you described the Lieutenant's death . Broodlords really are nasty when allowed to do their business up close, especially in small games like this one.
    Food for Thought
Imagine the decimal number 0.999...(infinitely recurring). Which of the following statements is true:

    1) 0.999...<1
    2) 0.999...=1
    3)0.999...>1

Shiny, nice to see Nids doing well - the Broodlord really is a beast, it's just a pity that in larger games with sparse terrain he really takes a beating.

Anyway, lovely writing, it ran just like a story which is always great as it helps the report flow better and to keep track. Great job! Gotta love the really confused Dreadnought the most!

    Looking forward to more!
