Your models are awesome, it was a joy to go through the thread.
Oh, and yes, your backyard looks like a great place too.

Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita,
mi ritrovai per una selva oscura,
ché la diritta via era smarrita.

Awesome log, I really like how you can maintain such a high standard over quite a diverse range of figures, and those barbarians in particular are fantastic. Excellent work!
Thank you! I have a Masters of Art in Teaching. I have a B.S in Biology and to teach I was required to get a Masters Degree. I teach 12-14 year olds science!
Thanks, I appreciate the time you took to comment. It really helps to keep me going.

A shot of the Anglevarii Auxilia Palatina that I finished for my Eastern Late Roman Impetus army. The base is a combination of Musketeer Miniatures Late Romans and Westwind Miniatures' Death of Arthur vignette. I have a few more shots on my blog. The shields are transfers from Little Big Men Studios.

Thanks for the comparison shot! Wow, your painting skills are just top notch. Love the latest Anglevarii Auxilia Palatina (excuse my Latin) thingy![]()
That's looking very nice.![]()
Oh man, that looks amazing! The painting is amazing, however your use of models from multiple ranges and arraying them in such a way that it tells a story just takes this model over the top for me. In fact I would say this newest addition is more than great, it's inspiring! Truly, it makes me want to start a historical army of the period.
Not a problem! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
Thanks!
Thanks, Lord Dan. This is my favorite period in history and I'm happy to hear that it has inspired you! There are so many armies of the period I want to do, that I'm not sure when I'm going to have the time to complete them all: Eastern and Western armies (only real difference will be the shield designs), Visigoths, Huns, and Sassanid Persians.

Dear Killshot,
Updates! It's been a month, already!
Lots of love,
Dan
LOL! I know, I've been slacking. Teacher workshops and the like, that whole "summer off" thing for teachers is a myth. Hobby funds are low too, but that only means I've been working on my small back log of fantasy figures. Namely 18mm orc riders on fell beasts from Eureka Miniatures.

Sold! Get cracking, my biological friend!
Well, I decided to pick up a couple commission pieces with the idea of adding some fantastic Saxon characters that Bill from Musketeer Miniatures has been working. These are Dragonewts from Hero Wars. They're a little difficult to photograph. I have a few others to complete:

Are you saying those are Saxons, or what?
Nice painting, very old school models, all flat like that.
Saxon Newts!!!
I love the colors you've selected, though I've gotta say those models look so...old.
Now on to some real Saxons, and give me some inspiration for my Vikings!
LOL you guys are right about my intro into the models being very confusing! They definitely are old school models. Paint up pretty quick, not much detail on them.
Lord Dan: These are going to be early Saxons, the ones that took Britain from the Britains and gave the country/kingdom the name England! I expect there will be some British characters coming along soon as well (probably mounted and wielding a certain named sword) - I feel an entire project based on Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Trilogy coming on.

The Red Box Kickstarter reminded me that I needed to finish up Watch Captain Whistlocke and two footmen from earlier. Whistlock is in the middle of the picture and the two new footmen are on either side of him:

Stunning work, as ever. Can you tell us a bit about the colors you used, there? I'm particularly intrigued by the blue and dark red.
Thank you, Lord Dan! Which figures, the Dragonewts or the Aenglish?
