As for your starting army, it's a good way to start. The Rohirrim are one of the most important armies in the story, so they'll come in handy in a number of different scenarios. Having a lot of heroes isn't a bad thing in this game, and it has the advantage of limiting the number of miniatures you need to finish initially.
Personally I'd exchange Eomer for some more riders and/or Royal Guard, which gives you more numbers, and also focusses the theme around one part of the action on the Pelennor. Gamling was of course part of the King's guard, and Eowyn stayed close to her uncle, but Eomer meanwhile led his own éored into some other part of the battle.
