No, really I blame Deadley (and a couple others) for this log. This is my humble project log which started with a simple question and grew from there. C&C is always appreciated. I know I dont have the spam quotient of SC's logs or as many completed minis as Deadley but thanks for keeping me going guys.

It's just red ink. I am uploading some earlier pics of the Sarge from further away (ie: mostly in focus) but dialup is a pain for uploading.

I like 'em, the gore on the chainsword is very effective...i don't imagine a chainsword cutting clean through...i don't think you went overboard with the blood splatter at all

C'mon, 99 views and 3 comments? I know the pics are poorly lit and focused but still.

My company champ is done but still needs a base treatment.



And the existing command squad he fits into.


I had it organized as a 4 man squad per the old rules so by adding the champ to it I brought it up to snuff.

I have several old and OOP RT and 2nd ed minis that I really need to revisit and touch up (the command sarge among them) that I will get around to if you guys will give me feedback. The back burner has a full squad of 2nd ed marines (with shoulder mount heavy weapons) that I am stripping for a Consecrators squad.

on topic: they look pretty cool , but the green looks a bit thick on the company champion esque model maybe the photos though ?

Well some of it is the lighting, and some of it is that the paint is too thick. I am not happy with my white primer (of course it could just be me putting on too much....)

I think they look very cool and the 2nd edition dude is awesome

However i am not such a big fan of blood on marines.

Watched a bit of an episode this week with a "planted" shirt and thought to myself: "Chainswords are messy...... Hmm...." It gave me something to do during "Idol". (Mrs dean's show.... ) And this one is the only one I am going to do. (Killed a sentry or somesuch...)

Deadley: Thanks for the attention. I dont use a varnish because (10 years ago) the dull ones ruin the metal bits and the shiny ones are too shiny... I am going to try again after I get some MG powders for the rhinos.

And for the "Rarely" part of the thread title... I have several minis that have been painted for years that I can post up quickly, but I am currently only painting about 1 mini a week. (hey, I'm not Deadley...)

I have another almost ready for display, I may post up some pics of that WIP tonight along with the 2 WIP vets that my kid decided to try. There wont be any new finished minis till monday or tuesday I am afraid.

My plans: I want to finish a demi squad of Vets and then I am going to paint up the TL HB arm for my dreads that I have had for a couple years. Then there is the 25 DW that are getting refurbished and 10 RW bikes (dadburnit Spikey!!), The 3 MkII landspeeders (one with MOtRW conversion). And at sometime I am going to have to base these guys. (the refurbished dreads also.)

After that there is 1500 in Cadians and assorted tanks that are basecoated and based if I get bored with green.

Anyway, I will post up the obligitory work area pic tonight along with a few of the current WIP projects (front and back burners).

Hi all! Everyone survive Tuesday's post Memorial day hangover/sunburn? I didnt get as far as I thought I would. My youngest has softball every Tuesday and Thursday all summer so that is going to cut into painting time... :grumble:

Newest vet with some tidying to do. The flash brightened up the robe highlights, ie: It don't look like dat.... However, the belt, eyes and icon are getting redone. C&C please.

I will get you a shot of the one Assault Termi sarge that is "done" that I did 2-3 years ago (not highlighted). The rest (of that squad) are in various stages of "done" and all the rest (20+) are in "start over" mode. They are all "old school" metal termies tho....

I will also haul out my RW and all the Cadians tonight if I get time. I have a mate coming over this weekend and I want to maybe try a "Doublewing" game against his boyz or DH stormies. (blu tak is my friend)

Edit: Slapped a coat of green paint on the table & took some piccies.

Requested DW Squad. It isnt much more complex than color all the details. Will post more pics if you want me to Deadley.

Nowhere near done but you get the idea. I am going to reorganize and repaint the trim on the squad in the back (below) to blue and paint the other Platoon (middle above) with red trim. The armored fist squad and Grenadiers will probibly be the green below in the back.

Current project (after fixing stuff on the above vet) is a melta marine for my vets squad.


And Mrs dean is making a herdstone. The tall hill with pond in the background of the Guard shots is her creation as well.
