Although I don't really like cream, this one looks great! Excellent work Harry!

Also I find the single sky-blue fleur-de-lys really... enchanting? charming? stunning? I can't just find the word...

These perry Empire are the army that got me hooked on collecting. The figures were so great ... I wanted all of them.

So this week I have mostly been painting .... Chests.

Can't have a dungeon bash without some treasure.
All of these are old citadel chests from different times and places.

Heres a couple of close ups

It never fails to amaze me on how many little wonders appear in your collection! the old goblins are ace and I really love the old brets -that's a really nice scheme you've picked and the models are great [always fancied an army of the old classics myself]. Love the old chests too- you going to use them as objectives?
On the subject of cabinets - some of the jewellers I know use cabinets from Ikea- although for the size of your collection that still might be a bit pricey! One thing though is that sometimes they appear in the sale section as ikea sell off display/damaged stock- might be worth keeping an eye out for even just to display a few choice pieces from your collection.
Great work as always Harry and a joy to the eye!

Try giving it a Matt Varnish finish and it should take the sheen off. I've a friend who used greyphone sepia on his Romans instead of Army Painter dip, look fantastic after the varnish.

    Good work as usual.

    Baggers.
    I'm back.

Tonight Michael, I am going to be painting... My painting plog. Come and have a look.

As it happens I have an army of old classics. I have just been waiting for GW to get back to Brets to give me an excuse to paint them.
Yup, objectives and tresure for Dungeon bashing.
It would take quite a few cabinets thats for sure. But who knows if I saw something going cheap enough and I came into a bunch of money all at the same time enough I might kit out the room in wall to wall cabinets....

Yup who am I kidding .... if I came into cash we both know I would buy a cr@p tin of new metal to add to my pile of unpainted minis.

I painted a lantern stealin Goblin for quest:

A random Dwarf I got in a trade. Now this came very well painted I have added the odd highlight to touch it up and re-based it to match my stuff ... but this guy was really painted by Stark. Which reminds me I need to send him something ....

A demon chick from the talented hands of Steve Buddle:

    Poised to attack

A Marauder ghoul for my undead:

I think the Zoat is fantastic.

I found a Fimir the other night when I was going through an old box to give models to my boys.

Lovely minis, as always ... sorry I didn't comment on the Cowboys (just forgot), but they are very nice too !

My favorite from this last batch would be the demon chick ... the model is already superb, but your mastery of natural skin tones propulsed it to "WHOA" level ...

(plus, as a pervert, I'm more attracted to nudie females )

Where did that model come from ? I might be interested in some succubi to "count as" Chaos Furies for my DoC armies ...

The cowboys area bit different, but nice. I like the flesh tones on the succubus and the green on the zoat.

Hi Harry, hope you're well. Did you just do a green wash over flesh to get that transition tone? It looks very nice. Very natural.

Fantastic collection. Every new painted addition to it seems to give it more depth, whether it be lanter-thief gobbos, dwarfs, chests or knights. Oh, and pirates always work! You must be able to play some gorgeous games with your mates when you have such a wide range of miniatures to choose from.

Re: This week I have mostly been painting.....

As always, amazing progress in here. Whenever I think I proceed rather well with painting I only have to take a peek in here and be amazed with the speed, quality and variety. And of course nice, "classic" models.

Love the pirates. They're a really fun mix of miniatures across the ages which only adds to the "motley crew" look that pirates should have. I also like the cowboys a lot. Where did you get the models? Are those old GW ones? A few months ago I've been looking into Old West skirmishing (because I'll look up toys on basically any period or background as soon as the name of a period is dropped ) and found the Knuckleduster do a great range of 28mm stuff. Are you planning on doing specific terrain for this one as well?

I can't believe you got a collection of Citadel treasure chests from various ranges and eras.

Those Bretonnians look especially striking. Kudos for going with cream-coloured clothing. It looks really nice.

I remember that daemon girl. Is that mini currently sold by Reaper?

This may sound silly but this is the best painted Zoat I've ever seen. More often than not they are all dark and mono-coloured but this one looks really nice.

Well, I'm looking forward to your Vikings stuff and will try to resist signing up for the Tale of Skirmish Painters. Keep it up!

I haven't. I know I had two but they must have been traded or given away years ago because I can't find mine. Grrrr. Now they sell for silly money on e-bay since they were included in the Storm of Magic

Thanks very much. Always good to achieve WHOA level painting.

That is from Eolith now spyglass miniatures from the talented hands of Steve Buddle ... X-GW now back sculpting for GW again.
Expect to see some stuff from him before the end of the year.

Thank you. The scheme on the Zoat was an accident. i was trying to reproduce a scheme I had seen in an illustration form the WFRP book but the mind plays funny tricks and I remembered it completely wrong and ended up with this.

It is Bogoff. bring back the comedy names thats what I say.

Bloomin cheek that was hours of careful blending. OK OK It was a couple of selective washes. Painted the pink, painted the green. Added washes to merge the two.

We don't get together often but when we do it is nice to play with painted armies after many years of white undercoated ghost armies . Nice scenery is great too. Love playing over a good looking battle field/game board.

Thanks. Thats the nice thing about skirmish games because there are less minis you can give them a bit more attention.

Thanks sigur. It always makes me smile when you talk of the quality of my painting when you paint the way you do.
But thanks as always for the kind words.

The fantasy pirates are fun. Just about found enough from different ranges to make a crew.

The Cowboys are also a bit of a mix. the first three are Wargames foundry. They have two generations the first two are from the early rannge wonderful set of minis which I think mat have been done by the perrys. The third gut is from the more recent generation much bigger and more heroic scale minis and detail and the big guy at the back is a black scorpion mini ... even bigger. Artizan miniatures also do some lovely cowboys that sit well with the newer foundry stuff. But the older foundry stuff is a bit small and the black scorpion stuff is a bit big. What really doesn't work is mixing old foundry with Black scorpion. All a bit more finely sculpted than Knuckleduster but they do a piano player.

I did start some cowboy terrain a while back. I'll find some pictures.
I am just putting the finishing touches to a 7th cavalry fort.

It is not so much a collection of tresure chests.
They are just something I seem to have picked up along the way.

Knights of origo worked out very well.

Demon Girl is from Eolith which then became Spyglass miniatures.
Not even sure if they are still available as steve Buddle there creator has returned to Games workshop.

I have seen a better painted zoat ... I will find the picture for you.

I am loving all the little tales that have sprung up. great to see the spin offs from the original idea.
