Do you mind telling me where you got those Frogs ... I'm searching for some to use for the "frog scroll" in WFB, Forge World does nice ones, but only two variants, and quite typed (a "normal" and a "Tzeentch" one), and I would love some natural frogs to stick on 20mm and 25mm base for my games ...
    Thanks very much.

The frogs are Citadel miniatures believ it or not. They are quite old scilpts .... back in the first Citadel compendium days ... they are C22 creatures I think. (off the top of my head without checking) Not sure where you would get hold of any these days other than ebay.

I fell like GW did re-release one more recently though as well ... maybe with a Bretonnian release???
    With Morganna??

But I'm also intrigued by Harry's frogs, they are better suited for that use, bigger (and kinda cute!) so you can actually see them on the bases!

Realy nice animals otherwise Harry, I particularily like the stripped cat, and the bears tatoos are a nice touch too.

And you probably answered this a dozen of time already, but what's the base colors for your bases? I'm looking for some transition bases between my TK and VC for all the random monsters and units I'm buying recently (for collection and/or use for SoM). I was thinking making some Badland-esque bases to have them fit better with everyting, and I quite like how you do yours, light brown soil, some gray rock and touches of green.
Thanks. Glad you like the tats. I was pleased with them.

Beastial brown drybrushed with snakebite leather and bleached bone mixes and then paint the little stones after.
Exactly the same reason i went for these my Chaos and VC are on scorched brown bases and my TK on sand bases ... I wanted something inbetween for my 'standard bases'.

I like your critters, the frogs are cute, and the warpaint works really well on the bears. Speaking of which, I'm looking for some big cats (and/or bears) that would be big enough to use as cavalry mounts. Any ideas?
Ohhhh those. Yes I will return to those when GW returns to DE .... I still had scouts and witch elves to do from the old marauder stuff and I have some of the more recent stuff to pait as well as another seperate army based a round the corsairs, scouts and and dark riders ... as a raidng force.

Well these bears are certainly big enough. (but sell for silly money on ebay) The only big cats i have seen that are big enough for mounts and they are great sculpts are the old grenadier sabre tooths with barbarians on their backs ..... they are still available from Mirliton (sp?)

No I was going to make something up for my Warhammer Quest games ... just to vary the swarms a bit. (instead of more rats, bats or spiders)

It was my 46th birthday this weekend .... breath deep boys .... its gone in a wink.

However it meant I got some time off for good behaviour and got some painting done:

I painted a couple more animals:

If anyone has some of these and wants to give me a late birthday present.
(Or trade for something equally obscure. )
I would love three more of these as these two are all I have.
(and I would like to make a group of 5 the same as the other animals).

I also painted up a little something else for my Blood Bowl team.

I have been playing a few games with my halfling team .... and not winning very much.
My team really needs a second treeman ... and so I drafted in a new star player ....

    He has been converted slightly.
It amused me the idea of a treeman stepping back into the pocket to launch the long pass .... obviously all done in slow motion.

Here he is with his less converted buddy:

and here is the now complete (and hopefully more successful ) team:

These done I can get stuck into a new team .... Mmmmmm.

Re: This week I have mostly been painting.....

Playing Blood Bowl with a Halfling team is less about winning and more about surviving. The only victories you can really hope for are moral victories.
Still, some of the best and most entertaining matches I have played were with my Halflings, the Southfarthing Suicide Squad. I fondly remember a game against the Goblins played by my FLGS's proprietor where we both only had three guys left standing at the end. And we both had a blast.

I am not a fan of that Treeman model as such (I use the older Fantasy models myself rather than this one), but I like the conversion. And the paintjob is very nice, it makes the face stand out without it looking unnatural.

As the things you are painting occasionally foreshadow future releases, is there still hope for a new edition of Blood Bowl this year?

The converted long-pass treeman looks excellent! Could you convert it just be bending the metal, or did you have to cut it?

The boars, are they the an old GW boar-boyz boar? Which kit are they from?

Seriously, you just don't stop, do you? And you even manage to squeeze in models most of us have never seen before on an almost daily basis to boot... Tsk...

You know what would be super duper awesome? If you gave us a battle report of two of your armies squaring it off... If I am not mistaken you have a really cool Chaos army already, and I am sure that you can squeeze out an equal amount of points for your High Elves.

LOL Yes ... I honestly don't expect to win any more than I do now.

Older than this one? This one was in the red catalogue .... you mean the version of this guy without the helmet that came before this guy? Or do you mean the pre slotta treeman?

We can only hope. This time last year I was certain it was coming but following a couple of things I ahve heard i am not so sure.
But it is best to be prepared just in case .. right?

Thanks. No cuts I just bent it. unfirtunately because I couldn't decide exactly where I wanted the hand it went back and forth to many times and came off so had to be pinned back on again.

The boars are Jes Godwins from the Elven beastmasters back in the red catalogue.

What is this "kit" of which you speak? Is that something made by Airfix?

I do try not to stop .... but life keeps getting in the way.
I do have some stuff that wasn't on the ark with Noah .... I will try and paint something up that you youngsters wiill recognise.

Mmmm ... battle reports not really my thing. Maybe one day. I take a fe wshots the next time I get a game in.

By the way .... I have not forgotton you ... I have a nice little pile of things set to one side for you and every time I come across something interesting or some old dungeon delver you won't have seen before I add them to your pile.

No, I mean the regular WHFB Treemen before the current one, this one and the other one corresponding to this one (which I currently can't find a picture of).
I just gave them some very crude shoulder pads made out of green stuff to put their player numbers on.

As always Harry your models amaze me. I'm sitting at work wanting to really get painting - sigh. I do have to ask. Do you have much of the earlier Lord of the Rings models from the late eighties and I seem to remember that you did the Balrog as a bloodthirster, a while back.

Also I think, in answer to your question about recent GW frog releases, is they came with Morgeana Le Fay, or however its spelt.
    I'm back.

Yes I do. I have the fellowship and a selection of the others.
I might give them a bash when the hobbit is released.

Thanks very much. In fairness the scheme is adapted from the one that appeared in WD when these minis first came out. The green and yellow seemed to work so i stuck with it.

Yes ... I collected all of it. I was lucky enough to be around when they were selling it off cheap when they took the specialist games out of the stores. so I completed most of my fleets when I had the chance ... thinking it might be gone forever.

It plays great ... it is one of my favorite games. it is a bit counter heavy to keep track ... especially when you have a big game. you need a table nearly as big as the game table for all the templates and counters .... but aside from that it is great fun. (Like most of the specialist games).

    .
I would say go for it. I'm going to (re)start a plog when the Hobbit comes out. I've got a load of the current GW LOTR range (which in my humble opinion has some of the fineist model GW have ever made) to paint up and I keep getting tempted by the old stuff.

Good work on the Man O War stuff as well. A game I know little about.
