    Evilhomer's Colours of the Imperium thread

    Hi guys I've been meaning to get around to do this thread for a while. Now I've finally finished uni, I've had alot more time on my hands so here we are!

    The concept is simple really. I'm more of a painter than a gamer these days and I thought it'd be cool to paint as many different aspects of Imperial forces as possible (in an attempt to get through my rather large stash of unassembled mini's).

    So from time to time I'll update this thread with what I've been working on recently.

    Ok first up, Dark Angels (a fitting start)

    Ok, as its the start of the thread you get treated with a second unit

    These guys are from the Necromundan 8th "Spiders". They're survivors from my repainted (uh.. WIP that is) armoured company. They sport the original colour scheme (taken from the epic IG box) along with the red helmet stripe that denotes them as being "tactical troops". The studio's epic army had red, blue and yellow helmet stripes - imagine painting helmet stripes onto epic models *shudder*.

    A few more pictures won't hurt

    These guys were for my Pre-Heresy Dark Angels army as part of the Pre-Heresy thread. They've been assembled for a while, but not anywhere near finished until the past week. Still need a few finishing touches - wax seals, writing on the seals and the heavy bolter. If anyone has any ideas for a good colour for the heavy bolter I'm open to suggestions - I really can't decide 8^)

    Very Very nice. All your models are great! I always like to see older looking models with nice paint on them. Keep em coming.
    Inquisitor Konig: At Warhammer World they serve Bugman's Beer, but I don't think they brew it there...

    Heheh, yeah I'm a big fan of retro models/colour schemes. The Black Dark Angels even have the rogue trader era transfers on them!

    Hmm. Next will either be a squad of Black Templars or a Cadian 122nd combat engineers squad (special weapon squad). Or some Dark Angel successor vets...hmm...or some armour. Or a command squad of elysians. I have too many half painted models on my desk at the moment!

    Ahh ok the command squad it is. I have had them for 2 years or so. I've screwed these guys up a few times, so they won't be as good as they should be.. They'll be in flecktarn camo btw

    Very nice painting Evilhomer.

    Favourite details so far:
    - The wonderfully painted faces
    - The crisp and smooth white!
    - The RT decals.
    - The Tiger stripe

    I too also reckon the Elysian command squad. The people have spoken :-D Looking forward to seeing them!

    I've just more-or-less finished painting these guys, and was pleased with how they've come out. They need abit of neatening here and there, which is always the joy of photos- they always show up that splodge of paint in an annoying part of a mini to get to. I also had trouble with the mig pigments when it came to the varnish. Does anyone know of any decent spray matt varnish's? I had a big run-in with a spray varnish once so I always apply by hand.

    Anyway.. on with the photo's...









    I'm sorry about the quality of the photos as some are quite blurry 8^/ I'll get around to posting some better photos when they're properly completed (couple of weeks time?), as I want to order some brass-etched foliage for their bases, along with general tidying up.

    deadleyheadley - it must be done! I was torn whether I should keep them as PH Dark Angels or give them the Consecrators chapter badge
