    Re: inside a russ

I've been following your progress over at "Work in Progress" closely. Building a russ cut-away is something I've always wanted to do. I like what you've done so far... however, I can't see you pulling this of "correctly", or rather, according to fluff that is.

The tank has a loader, a driver, a gunner and a commander (excluding sponsons and their gunners). Now the problem about the design GW (or forge world, this info is from the Imperial Armlour: vol. 1 book, which has some "cut in half pictures" of the leman russ) has thought up is this: in that small turret there should be room enough for the commander to sit and observe the surroundings, manage comunications and command the rest of the crew, there should also be room for the gunner to aim and fire the battle-cannon and on top off that there should be enough room for the loader to load the battle-cannon (and to traverse freely to the bottom of the tank where he gets the shells). I just can't see three people fitting in that small turret.

However, I don't want to get you down, au contraire! The work you've done so far is exceptional, very very good and I wish you the best of luck. I hope to see you finishing this but I still doubt it can be done the way the fluff dictates, not that it matters, as long as it looks good (and it already does!).

By the way, are you going for the ultimate challenge and include sponsons?

Reminds me of my visit to Bovington Tank Museum.

Excellent work so far, I am mightily impressed!

Also, is there any chance of a close up of the Guardsmen? I'm intrigued by the conversion on the lasgun.

This is pretty darn nifty! But Wally, you are clearly a very unhinged individual for attempting such a thing... so naturally we all applaud you!

Impressive, very skilled use of plasticard.

As for the technicl difficulties of an accurate russ model, well the russ itself is under-sized for what it is anyway. Could always get away with the excuse of its from a more advanced imperial world so more automation in the turret etc.

And I'd just leave the sponson bolters off altogether- frees up room for the rest of the crew without having to mess around with sponson gun mountings and extra crew.

    Good luck with finishing this

Gorgeous, although I agree with Dominus Ex Mechanica on the scale issue; but that's GW for you; ten marines would only fit into the rhino if they were melted down first, so it's not surprising the Russ turret can't accomodate three flashlightmen.
