I'll have a go with what you've suggested and if it doesn;t make it any better you're getting the blame!
Thanks![]()

What's that GW? More Dark Angels?... Well if you insist.... (A 2nd battle company started...) What? Chaos resurgent and in the box too? (Long, long delayed 1ksons started)
Thanks for pointing that thread out, Dean: I'll have a look at it, too. Oh, and welcome here

Whoops! I guess that was my first post in your thread. Awsome Vossies Toshenko. Been watching for a fair few months.
Haven't played WFB for a long time but those are some well done Dwarves also.

As to the photographing/editing discussion, one very simple thing is to open the pic in Photoshop and go to Image/Adjustments/Auto Levels. This can fix the colours most of the time.
Toschenko, looking forward to more minis soon.![]()

I'm here with an update, folks! Since this log is starting to lose its randomness (and the title suggest another thing) the update isn't probably focused on what you're expecting, but anyway...
Inspired by Sigur's work on his beautiful warmaster orcs, I've decided that I would put some time in painting some of the (very) little stuff I have lurking in my room... but since I don't play warmaster I've been busy in finally starting seriously my guard epic army. These are the results of my efforts on valhallans guardsmen 'til now:
Test leman russ:
Test (command) infantry stand:
the rest of the first infantry company:
I made the Russ quite some time ago, drybrushing the white over a light grey: it's not that bad when you see it from a distance, but in the pics it looks really ugly. I guess I should try with layering.
The infantry instead came out really well, I'm very fond of those. Some stands are still WIP (only for helmets though) but the rest is finished, less the bases. On this subject, does anyone have some hint on how to base epic stuff? I fear that using sand or gravel may appear way too out of scale...
More randomness to come...

The man's back!
Long time Toschenkno, liking the epic, can't believe you found something to paint smaller than Dwarfs though.

All of your models are looking wonderful, and they are my tutorials always. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Eh eh, cheers...
Thanks mate, it's a nice compliment coming from you.
-------------------------------------------------------
I've finished painting the last helmets on the epic guardsmen but I'm still waiting for some suggestion on how to make the bases... pics will follow after the basing is done.
Now, something totally different:
I had this mini sitting on my desk for ages, half-painted... now it's near completion (it's missing some particulars) but I think I'll have to redo the skin, I'm not too keen on the face.
Yes, I know what you're thinking... I'll paint some other dwarf, promised!
Looking for C&C

I don;t see anything wrong with the face; that looks very nice so far![]()
It is looking maybe too purple-ish for my taste. However, I'm trying to like it so that I don't have to repaint it!
Thanks for looking
Toschenko
EDIT: a quick question: blond or black hair for the van saar?

Black I;d say; it looks good as it is and another colour may be a bit too much IMO.
The face looks awesome! Seriously, it looks good as is. One of these days I'll paint skin as well as you but that seems to be a bit away!
I'm liking the epic stuff. I want to try painting some myself just because the models are so cool.

Thanks LotE and Arhalien. Mmh, I reckon that adding a fourth colour would be a bit OTT, I'll leave blond hair for the guys with black lasguns; thanks for the advice.
Now, even more randomness with a FoW-related update:
These first two pics show a test base for the company command. The following two with some models momentarily stuck to it to show how it will look like:
Apologies for the pic quality, those were taken in a hurry. Tomorrow I should be able to post something better. The guy standing behind the ones talking will be substituted by a radio operator, to form with the other two the company command.
As you may notice, I'm experimenting mixing uniforms in platoons, just to have some variety when I paint those little bloody men... I have something like 150 to do (why the hell did I choose an infantry company?)
C&C on the base is crucial 'cause now I can still change the colour... I went for a "earthy" look even if they are supposed to be urban bases, because I didn't want to paint them in boring shades of grey... I think this should be ok since during WW2 many urban areas had still earthy roads
The colour of the base edges is ok? Let me know, please

The Van Saar guy looks cool except for his trigger finger being green.

I must say I can't believe how good your stuff looks, and that I've never seen your thread before. I love the FoW GI's, so much detail on such a small scale.
And consider your photo booth idea stolen![]()
Ah! my head! i got to lie down. this is to much... to well painted... and my PC almost killed itself loading this post!
