Really well done, the scout. Your weathering has vastly improved. The skin I like too. Fits the form of the head. Good work.
The Rhino pic made my eyes hurt a bit, but that´ll go away when it is done completely

It's a long way to get the army all painted up, but every step is a conquest in the right direction: I finally completed these bloody five scouts
Not completely happy with them, in particular I seem to dislike the face sculpts so much that I can't really do a decent job (the only one I'm fond of is the heavy bolter chap). The guys who were already painted had massive touch-ups and weathering adjustments to get them in line with the most recent paintjobs.

Well, they look amazingly good though.
I don't know if the head sculpts are that bad, although maybe they don't look "Astartes" enough. You're probably having a case of the painter's frustration though, where things don't look exactly as you wished they would, even though they actually look pretty good. I certainly can't see anything wrong with the paint jobs. Really smooth painting and good skin tones. Also variation in the skin tones, linked with the hair color variation. Very well done indeed!

I think they're way better of the new scout's heads, but still they could be better - a lot of room for improvement. Or maybe it's only me and I couldn't do a decent job on them no matter the effort, which could possibly be the real cause (those scouts were on the painting desk for so long that I had to put them out of my sight just after I gave the last brush stroke - they were beginning to annoy me).
Ok, now that they're finally finished I may perhaps put some effort in something else: still WIP, but at least is an advanced stage one
It's starting to look better than the striking yellowy box that it was before.
As ever, C&C are welcome: in particular I'd want to know your thoughts on the amount of weathering - too much of it or it looks right? Is there something you would change?

Looking good Toschenko, loving the look and feel to all the finished results.

Looks absolutely fabulous Tosh.Love the weathering.
Only thing that immediately jumps out is the tactical marking on the roof? What else do you plan to do with it, as atm it looks very flat next to the lovely variation in tone you've got with the yellow. Also, the ‘fists logo on the door isn’t weathered consistently with the rest of the vehicle. Looks too new to me.

Stunning.
The only thing I would change would be that it was sitting on my painting table and not yours.
I would say it is just about spot on.
Will you be basing it? Almost feel it deserves a mini diorama.

I was going to say too much weathering, but looking at it again it's about right.
You're probably going to do it anyway, but I'd recommend some more definition around the join on the roof entry if that makes sense![]()

Thanks
The marking is lightly weathered, but maybe it doesn't show too much in those pics. Thanks for the hint on the chapter symbole, I added a bit more black. Hope that now looks good.
Thanks Harry, I'm glad that you like it. I don't think honestly I'm going to base it, I don't like the idea of based 40k vehicles too much. Should someone point me to a couple good works I may always change idea ,though
Fixed. And cheers.
Again, thank you.
Ok, time for a major update; I finally finished the rhino, weathered the tracks, added some more detail in the form of an oil drum, a toolbox and an aerial (the fact that the latter isn't straight is deliberate, I think that it suits the model well); the only thing that is missing is the crewman, and I'm working on him just now.

On with the remaining pics:
The weathering on the drum and the toolbox is made with the salt/hairspray technique. Funny stuff, I have to say. Should you want some more info just let me know.
C&C as always appreciated

salt/hairspray technique? Never heard of it but it does sound interesting.
The Tank looks great, love the detail additions to it, really gives it the feel of a member of a group of Rhinos carrying their payload to a key location to prepare for a long battle.

Lovely weathering... I'm not normally a fan of weathering on models (I personally prefer the 'new from showroom' style) but this is really well done.
However, there is one thing that lets it down. The join line on the back of the barrel. Sticks out a mile due to the high standard of the rest of the tank.
After all that work on the interior I hope you didn't glue the door shut.![]()
My General Project Log
It occasionally gets updated
Salt/Hairspray technique is widely used in modeller community. If we are talking about models/kits of real vehicles. It is used as wheathering technique to achieve realistic chipping without too much work.
Actually you need spray model (with basecoat and base color) with hairspray (cos it is cheap) and sprinkle it with salt. Next step is spray it with color your want as main color, it can be a bit darker as used base color. When it dry, you have to dissolve salt with water and with large brush.

really love your tank

As TomG already pointed out, is a weathering technique used by military modelers. Here I first prepared the drum and toolbox giving them a flat base of red brown tamiya, then with a sponge I deliberately applied various rusty colours to add variations - vermin brown, bestial brown, macharius solar orange, tausept ochre, iyanden darksun. I chose to use mostly foundations paints because they're a bit desaturated and more suited to rust tones. Then I coated both pieces with a light coat of hairspray and quickly sprinkled salt all over, paying attention to make it adhere to the surface and removing excess with my finger. When it was dry I spray painted the main colour (camo green) working from a distance of approximately 30cm to prevent the salt from blowing off, and then (again, when paint was dry) I removed the salt with the help of an old toothbrush. The result was already good, but I decided to take it a step furthe applying some more ochre dot here and there along with rust pigments. I also had the "allied green" pigment from MIG so I varied even the green tone. After all this work, a couple light passed of matt varnish and you're done. It's quick and easy, and most important it's fun
Yeah I know the join line issue, but I didn't manage to get a decent filling of it. It's somewhat difficult to get in and sand without taking away the edge of the drum, and the join itself is quite deep too
I didn't glue the entire roof, it's still removable. It seems that your cookie is approaching at last
Thanks for the link, it's always useful to have some more source of inspiration. The result he obtains is quite astounding, too
Thank you

Ciao! First time poster in your thread. Simply amazing work, really inspiring. Especially the FOW and Imperial Fist, I love the rugged realistic look.

amazing tank, but the only thing that is slightly bugging me is the arrow... it is somehow too clean
