Default The Astro Mag Issue 4

Hello Warseer!
All of us over at the Astro Mag finally finished our latest issue, centered around the Imperial guard, available for download here. We are still young and getting the hang of everything so all constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. We're looking to help out hobbyists all over the interent get the most out of the hobby so all the crit does is help you in the end!

Another thing worth asking is what would you like to see more/less of? Our next issue is going to be Apocalypse themed so if you would like to offer up ideas or suggestions, by all means feel free! I will be checking this thread periodically to answer any questions you may have!

Thanks for reading!
-Ark

PS- we have TSOALR in it too, so, at the very least, download it for that

Hmm, consider it done! That's a really awesome idea and sounds really fun to research, I'll put it on "da list"

Not sure exactly what you mean? Are you talking about Datasheets, background fluff, stories...? If you're talking about more of the datasheet route, we're going to be announcing details for a Datasheet competition for next issue and we plan on including the top three winners in it and then releasing every entry as a pdf supplement. We also hope to give away the new Stormlord or Stompa kit, as long as we get enough in the way of donations.

Just watch out at http://mag.astronomican.com if you (or anyone!) would be interested in that.

Nice magazine, though I am personally wondering why more than half of the book is about conversions. Sure they are cool, but you might as-well name your magazine as 'Astronomican Conversions'.

Hi Lord Arkaedin,
High points for me in the wonderful magazine were the plea for tolerance and understanding towards GW, the return for the Frateris militia, and the nifty Eviscerator conversion, so simple but so brilliant! I don't play Imperial guard but enjoyed 'thumbing through the pages' a lot. You have a very high quality magazine there, thank you for making it available to us all

Hello Francois!

My only gripes I have highlighted but we'll see if they have merit from others!

I actually had a short story I felt like writing, this might motivate me to do it and submit it. Is there a size limit?

Unpainted models in your Batrep, WTF? Loved the mag until then.

Nothing too long, but that's about it. I'm pretty sure my story, Pask, was just about pushing it at 911 words.

Wow, that is pretty short by my standards

Size limit for fiction skirts around 1,500 words. A nice short story, but sufficient space to tell a thrilling tale.

@Tiltin Tim- yeah, i know, it was heartbreaking to have to do that but we wanted a batrep in there and the one guy who originally was going to do it fell through. So I grabbed my models, ran down to the local store on the gaming night and expected to play a smaller game with my friend Mike so we could have fully, or at least table-top standard, models on the table (which I can only do at 1250 or less). The guy who I ended up playing against would do no less than, what was it, 1850? It sucked, but I was stuck between a rock and a hard place really.

No worries, though, there will be nice Apocalypse report in next issue with two fully painted Guard armies and a fully painted Ork army. On a table that's NOT made of felt

hi

thanx for the magazine it's great
but for the bat rep, can you put a progress map of the battle
the idea to make it as a story is so cool
but i think map will be helpful

thanx again and i'm looking forward for the next issue

Sorry I found it extremely boring.
The big picture should be called the Big Axxe Kiss which has already been done by JJ in White Dwarf.
Rusting tutorial already cover in WD. Pictures to poor to see anything.
Why choose Guard? Why not wait a month for the new dex? Waste of space.
Battle Rep badly painted or just undercoated?? Also Marines Verse Marines is always soooo boring!

Thanks for your input dubhgilla, even if it doesn't help us improve!

Not everyone pays money for White Dwarf which is why we supply a free magazine with tutorials other hobbyists find interesting. The fact that it has been in a White Dwarf means nothing as maybe one or two of the contributing authors receive that publication on a regularly basis.

We chose Guard seeing as how the codex was released a mere 11 days after the release of Issue 4.

As for the battle report, I agree, I hate marines v. marines. However no one else submitted a battle report, perhaps you could with your wonderfully painted models and armies that are not marines? You could email it to me at theastromag@gmail.com and thanks for your support!
