Default The Hunt For Gollum [fan movie]

The site's suffering a bit from the traffic right now, but the fan made movie "The Hunt For Gollum" was released today.

It's a free, non profit movie available here: http://www.thehuntforgollum.com

I just finished watching it and it think it's quite good. I got the odd "Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!" () feeling once, but all in all I think it's worth watching this.

I was extremely impressed with this short film.

Worth watching. Keeps in the style of Jackson's film version of LOTR and is pretty accurate from a 'historical' point of view.

The makers 'trick' for Gollum was inspired and worked.

Yeah fair play to them, very impressive...

As said good 'trick' with Gollum, clever way to handle something that if done shoddily could have ruined the film.

Just watched it, great movie.

Very compelling and well done for such a fan base production.

If you have not seen it, you really should.

I can still watch it. It's just the HD Player that's set to private. You can still watch it in HQ - even though the screen size really suffers...

It's a good movie anyways. Watched it yesterday. It's really well made for a low budget film, and it manages to capture that LotR feel...

EDIT: It seem's they're redoing their website atm, so the movie doesn't work right now. But they've added a "full screen" button...

Finally got it working..

I have to say, it's impressive for a fanmade film, but otherwise.. I couldn't possibly compare it to the original movies (the swordfights were that awful IMO). They need a medievalist to show 'em how to fight prop4. To me it felt like they really wanted to make a TV-series version of LOTR, but didn't really plan it meticulously enough for the end result to be anything more than a "cutscene". Just because you can do something technically doesn't get you there - you still need a good story.

I have only watched the trailer and so far it looks promising I must say. It looks really good for being a fan made film. I will definitely watch it later when I have the time.

great film ! lots of attention to detail in the costumes, and the effects and music was top notch. If i was being critical id say aragorn and gandalfs diaglogue scenes were terrible! apart from that it=s the best fan movie ive ever seen! Im hungrey for more! Whoevers making the hobbit film should snap this up the marketing potencial for the release would be huge! and also give these guys some cash they rightfully deserve!
