i just wanted to post this as a WGE customer.

firstly, i am in no way connected to WGE other than as customer. i am not an employee or a close personal friend of the owners. However i do have a sort of vested interest as i live very close to Gareth collect almost all of my orders in person, virtually 'off the shelf' so i will not comment on my shopping experience as mine is a somewhat unique perspective.

what i will say is if i were in the same position as you all i would be very upset and rightly would expect some two way communication.

but i will also say that a small number of the negative comments on here are from competitors; you can make of that what you will.

i am WELL AWARE knowing someone is a nice guy is cold comfort when you are down £££$$$ but having met Gareth in person I am sure he IS a nice guy and not out to rip people off

I only wish you all had the same experience I have had. I have no practical help or advice to offer but I wanted to give my positive account of my dealings with the traders in recent weeks. I have found it a great way to buy my models, paints and brushes at really amazing discounts, and I know other people feel the same way.

i just wanted to make sure this thread had some positive feedback in it too.

isnt that like rubbing salt into a wound, they are still trading and taking peoples money but not repaying the people how tthey owe cash to? Im sorry but that isnt a sign of a "nice guy", not by any stretch of the imagination.

The fact that they havent come onto here to discuss what is happening or even to contact the customers that have outstanding monies owed to them says more than the words of one person I am afraid.

Although some of the posts on this thread have been from rival website owners I assure you that my claim is genuine and there are plenty of people here with genuine greivances. In any case what owners of other websites think is beside the point that is not the issue here. I am owed over £220 and Wargames Empire has had plenty of time to repay but has not.

I appeal to anyone who knows or can make contact with the people who run Wargames Empire to raise the questions discussed on this thread with them and press for answers. I would be grateful for any efforts on our behalf.

What I think has happened:

I'm pretty sure that they stopped selling GW stuff because of complaints or because they breached the terms and conditions. Not for any of the reasons they gave. GW shut them down.

I'm also fairly sure they don't offer Paypal now because of all the disputes directed at them through Paypal. Paypal had suspended their account when I launched a dispute and Paypal prevented them from responding. I'm 99% sure that it would be Paypal which cut them off because of complaints.

I consider it a distinct possibility that the people at Wargames Empire will/have already cut and run. From what I can tell they are operating as sole traders or as a partnership. This would mean that they have unlimited personal liability for any debts incurred. So unless they go bankrupt it should be at least possible to retrieve out funds.

Once the paypal account is dead, there's nothing you can do.

They won't be getting another account anytime soon, but paypal will not actively chase them for the money. It's not a bank, it's not legally obliged to do so.

There's always the small claims court, especially as they're still currently trading. I'm in no position to offer legal advice so I wont even try, but if you're in the UK the Citizen's Advice Beureau should be able to point you in the right direction, similarly some solicitors offer free, if brief, legal advice sessions.

This avenue might not be available if they cease trading or file for bankruptcy, in any case the sooner your decide on and persue a course of action the better.

I got my money back on Wednesday due to paying via credit card in my paypal account + my order was over £100 so I am covered by the Trading standards act. Went and spent it on Buy4lessonline and save about 25% and got it on Friday! Hasnt put me off internet shopping at all

Still nothing! Has anyone had any luck with their letters? I went to the bank just to check if i can claim or something but i can't because i paid with debit card.
