I felt quite frustrated by the skaven's battle report.
It just felt like they had done everything in their power to avoid any kind of straight match up. It didn't give me indication of how well the skaven play or how well balanced they are compared to dwarfs. I'd have much preferred a straight up fight. Save the fancy scenarios for when a new army isn't being released.

The last White Dwarf I have read was from two years ago, though with the Skaven release imminent I had asked one of the members of my local Blood Bowl league whether he could bring his November issue along. I read through the interview with Jeremy Vetock and the Skaven battle report, while skimming the remaining articles.
I gave the issue a three as well in the end. The scenario had such a large amount of special rules, that the fight eventually did not show the change in tactical decisions you have to make with the new Skaven army. Good for you to have fun with a battle, but for a hobby magazine, you've did a poor job of telling me (the longterm Skaven player) how differently the army eventually plays... The interview with Jeremy Vetock was downright pathetic, compared to earlier interviews with the writers of the armybook. Dude, I will eventually know what you've changed when I buy the armybook, so I want to know why you did so. A lost opportunity here. Greetz

is it too much to ask to have it show up on time?
Im tired of flipping through it at my local shop and checking the mail box day in and day out to be greeted with nothing! voted 1 b/c having what i payed for in hand is half the battle my friends, the most important half. |

Well here gos nothing...
I gave it a 8. I'm impressed that it had more content than just SKAVEN BUY IT NOW!!!!1!. (last month) The masterclass white painting was very useful. It's funny how the page with the mini picture of the plague furnace is just barely readable. That's now meaningless as I'm getting the full thing tomorrow morning. I ROFL at the mention of the squats. All together a good issue, but I wish that there could have been some building workshops about the new Skaven toys, as well as some conversion pieces for the battle report. Only gripe about it in general was that it was in plastic, and sadly no customer copy. At least it wasn't last months issue.

![]() I believe not publishing such articles in the current WD is a mistake and devalues this issue. Wintermute

Gave it a seven. Enjoyed the Skaven, liked that the battle report wasn't a straight-up fight, and liked what I have skimmed so far on the Space wolves and the LotR material.

Another long-time Skaven player here, rather disappointed with the designer's notes, but loved the battle report - a proper narrative game with actual turn-by-turn maps and descriptions! The infighting was particularly appropriate for Skaven. Too many shots of the new Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace, though.

Well, the new army doesn't always win, it's just that the often do. Beastmen lost against woodelves for example. It's also interesting that the skaven got a draw against empire last time they were released.

We need a ZERO option on the poll.
![]() Not sure how I will score the actual issue, but getting my copy mid-month is just wrong! I guess it is a good thing that I have no GW close or Independent that would advertise a November event, as I would most likely have missed them. The "best" part of what I have read so far is the comment about getting an article next month about the Crimson Fist packs which will be out for like 3 weeks by the time I get that issue, if their new magazine release schedule holds true. ![]() I might rewrite this rant later if I decide the issue is a good one, but so far, I have only seen the WD Mini article that might change my mind.
