I'm pretty sure I'm just being stupid here, but I'm having a hard time with the wording on splitting attacks.
In the BRB there is a reference on page 32 and 75 about models with multiple attacks splitting them. After every reference however, it says you can choose to kill a rank and file, or try your luck on a hero. So two questions - If I have 5 attacks, can I do 3 at the character and 2 at the unit? I'm 99% sure this one is valid, as it says it in the BRB, but just double checking. This is the one I'm not sure about. If my character is on the end of a unit, who is in a frontal combat, and a flank combat, can I swing 3 attacks at the frontal unit, and 2 attacks at the unit on my flank? Thanks! |

A character can split their attacks between the available targets, whether those targets be different units, different models of the same unit, or even different parts of the same model (e.g. character and mount). A rank and file model must devote all their attacks on a single such target.

What about, say, a treeman, can he split attacks between units?
Any idea where it's referenced in the rulebook? |

Correct, my mistake (the rule is restated for characters with more than 1 Attack later in the book, I'd missed the earlier reference and assumed it was a character privilege).
