Just an idea I had when looking at them. Are you going to add an ammo hopper thing on its back like the new kustom shoota guys and have an ammo belt leading down to the gun that sounds like your saying will be under slung. Not to insult anyone but generally I don't read aloto of ork threads, There are a couple amazing armies around here I pay attention to but usually it feels like people slap anything to an ork and what not and claim its a conversion. I will definatly be paying attention to this thread. I enjoy the freedom Orks give people to design cool themes and contraptions and to add humour at times as well. I cant wait to see your armoured boss.
i did try out a few ideas with an ammo hopper from a LR heavy bolter, though
it was too big. i still like the idea, so i might try with a scratchbuilt one later on.

im delaying posting pics of the warboss (whose made in the same style as these guys but is just a lot bigger, as im not too pleased with the work on him so far. we'll see how he turns out i guess..

progress report on orks:

since i decided to mail order my new orks from england (parity FTW) instead of buying them locally, i wont get all the heads/guns necessary to finish off the nobs this weekend, though ill do what i can without the bitz. this is how far i got so far:

one thing ive tried to do with all the meganobs is add glyphs on their shoulder guards that roughly translate as their names. this guy is Morgoff - wild and warlike

i initially didnt want to use a normal iron gob on any of the orks,as i wanted to keep the traditional GW nega armour iron gob look, like the other two ive posted pics of. but i love this head so much i couldnt wait for the others to arrive so i used it. im quite pleased with his weapon too. not too imaginative on the glyph front - bad moon

two pics of the same ork to 'show off' the weapon, which i think looks really cool slung under the arm like that. its the normal BfBR warboss weapon with extended barrels and extra mag. name - Gornob - bloody nob

you cant really see them here, but the edges of all plates have been given a rough treatmetn to make them look like um.. .weldy lines. hope you get what i mean! though they dont really show here.

EDIT: btw, these are still heavily WIP And the legs on the first two and the others not pictured will be as bulky as the one in the final 2 pics.

Wow man, these meganobs are looking superbly brutal. I can't wait to see how huge the boss is gonna be.

This is the kind of stuff that inspires me to get back to work on my own projects. totally awesome.

Yeh I keep getting sooooo tempted to make some but I'm holding off until I finish some more boys and make a normal nob squad and the warboss I have planned for my ork army. Once I have a playable army anything is game!!!

ok, meganob unit one is done (barring 2 power klaws i am yet to acquire, though they will be a simple cut and glue job):

nob 1:

i love the flail arm on this one - looks particularly dangerous

The meganobs are impressive man! Very "functional" in a orky way
The jagged edges and nuts and bolts all over the place will also really add character when painted up.

sure: the models were primed black, then drybrished with a 1:1 mix of chaos black:boltgun metal. verious other metal were painted/dry brushed on after this. to finish it off i applied lots and lots of the new washes, mostly badab black, devlan mud and thrakka green, using different washed on differnt metals for a pretty random look.

the yellow was just iyanden darksun applied very thickly in a stippling method over a black base applied 'randomly' on top of the metal from the previous stage.

Wow, great results there. Me likes!

Especially that flail thingy is great, as are the guns. I might loot parts of your ideas, even though I think WHF Black Orks are a better start for plastic MANs. But we'll see. Anyway, your's are great, and I can't wait to see them painted!

actually, now ive started painting them, i see what you mean about the black orks - more armour. its very hard to reach the trousers and skin with all these pistons, though i think the extra colour from the skin helps brighten up the model a bit.

But if you give it some extra efforts, it will look so much better. I always loved the skin and clothes you can see below the armour, it is just something different than armour through and through. More layers do add character, even if it is a good piece more work to do. Now don't complain, paint!

Now that's what I call Mega Armour...very curious how you would do a big (as in really big like ghazkul) Ork warlord in that style!
