Space Marine Spearhead!!!!

Ok Guys check this info out. Just had a good old chat with a Mail order Troll.

The space marine Spearhead can be ordered from the 9th August and will be released on the 20th September priced at huge 141 pounds!

It contains

Drop pod
3 scout bikers
Thunderfire gun + Servitor
Sgt chrouns
Sgt Tellion
Pedro
Sicarus
Vanguard boxed set (5 models)
Sterguard boxed set (5 models)
Codex

Not sure how they got to 141 I did say is there a landraider missing? I suppose those 4 special chracters bump the price up!!!!

Other interesting points was the release of other chapters shoulder pads I was writing franctically at this point and dont know my chapters that well so maybe you guys can give more detail.

Genesis, Mentors Aurora and Predators of something

And finally the last thing is that limited edtion model that you can only get online in america at the moment. Well it is coming to the UK when they launch the new fancy site over here is will be given away when you sign up for a online account I presume you will have to but something as well but who cares for such a cool model!

Hmmm, sounds alright. But I don't think all the special characters will see that much use. Would a Crimson Fists player use Sicarius? Would an Ultramarines player use Kantor?

Just to be clear, the Mentor Legion is a separate chapter from the Aurora whatever chapter. I think Mentor Legion shoulder pads could be popular because the symbol is an eagle head... might look good on Ultramarines, since they have a bunch of eagles on their banners, etc.

those are very odd chapters to be getting new shoulder pad treatment. i think people will be more pleased to get the more famous (1st founding + crimson fist, BTs etc) shoudler pads in a decent size first

and the spearhead has too many metal models and special characters for my taste

EDIT: that also just looks like a list of all the new marine models, minus the land raider. looks like a desperate sales pitch to me!

What I've heard is that there's a thing kind of like in the Dark Angels books, saying that if you want to use, for example, Pedro Kantor in a mentor legion army, you can, just paint it that colour and think of a different name. Similar sort of thing they used for DA and sucessor chapters.

Jenage, perhaps the price would reflect the inclusion of a new style landraider?

It's the spearhead. The spearhead is always comprised of the new models, and generally isn't much for playability by itself.

Those shoulder pads sound...odd. Considering they're all Ultra-successors, I'm guessing the "predators of something" are actually Praetors of Orpheus.

Right, that would make sense. Kantor would make a great Ultramarine, minus the Fist icons. And Sicarius would probably make a good Crimson Fist, minus the Roman helmet.

I also agree that 141 pounds would have to include the new Land Raider. We'll see I suppose.

yes that was it Praetors of Orpheus. I got the orp.... down then missed the rest the guy spoke very fast :-)

The land raider thing. I did ask that but he said it was on there but is now not on the list so who knows maybe it was just a mistake or maybe they will remove the landraider and bring the price down!

If that's a list of contents of a box of new models, fine.
But Spearhead?? It's not a viable army! What's going to go in the drop pod? Your sandwiches? More like spoonhead.

Spearhead is a misnomer now. I think the first few Spearheads were viable armies weren't they? Not any more. I'm not a Warhammer player anymore, but the DE one looks odd too.

Perhaps they should be called "Reinforcements" or something?

Well, on the one hand I think it is a good thing to come up with Ultramarines Sucessor chapter shoulder pads. With all those new special characters, i suppose there will be quite a lot of peope who will start an ultramarine army, or a succesor chapter. On the other hand i'd love to see properly sized shoulder pads for all the legions of the First Fouding before releasing anything else.

Yeh I know. It's just the implication of the word 'Spearhead' as oppose to what it is; an expansion of your army.

I don't believe so, army boxes were a more viable (although not always complete force). Spearheads seem to be all of the new releases (like the fantasy Dark Elf one) bundled together and available early.

However unlike the Dark Elf one where the models were at least usable most of this is suitable for Ultramarine players and almost unusable for everybody else.

It is also coming to the german online store, but you need to buy things for at least 75 € to get him.

how is it useless for anyone else? I dont know about you but i think most marine players are gonna want the new veterans of both flavors, and the drop pods, you dont like Ultramarines? fine, just sand of the U's and say its just a guy using that characters rules, not that hard

there is going to be quite a bit of sanding to do and some of the symbols will be very difficult to get rid off.

I don't play crimson fists or ultas, and i'm still considering getting this if there is the new LR box included.

Interesting, I wonder what it'll cost on this side of the pond. Doesn't matter, my paycheck direct deposits to GW anyway so I'm sure I'll get one. It'll be worth it just to get the vets early. Very cool models!
