Well I got my White Dwarf Saturday and had a better look at the Mounted Chaos Lord. It's just the pic we've already seen but examining it in WD gives you a better idea(no light reflection off the glossy page).
My earlier reservations about this model were confirmed. He is indeed mounted on a fat mule, and not a chaos steed at all. If you look at the marauder horses in comparison to his right beneath him you will see the differences. Normal rider's legs should hang equal to, if not further, than the horse's belly. As you can see on that model the horse's stomach hangs quite a bit lower than the model's legs. If you look at the horse's legs and compare them again to the marauder horses they are at least a quarter length longer than the Lord's "plowin' mule." All in all a great concept but poorly executed. It seems like citadel's new trend is to produce incredible plastics (Cold One Knights for example) and then have some jack off come along and do the metal lord (ok, the Dreadlord is not that bad, but his face is ugly as hell, no where near as cool as the plastic guys.) This is another example of when it would be cool to have the rider's legs separate from the mount. I haven't seen the lord unpainted but you and I both know his legs are attached to the mount. Shame as he is not beyond redemption, but the mule is. ![]() -Malakai

Exactly, and I have to say, I agree with Malakai, the horse does look stunted and quite static. marauder horsemen on the otherhand, look fantastic.

The orc one was good though. I'm glad DE got real models for their characters. Much better detail. Frankly any plastic kit had better metal models doing nearly the same thing. |

but there is another point in which i disagree with malakai you cant compare lords mount with mounted marauders at all now i would like to say -why-! this chaos lord mini is awesome and CHAOS STEED(which is IMO mount of this lord) is just like it should be! further, i said chaos steed because you have compared chaos steeds(who are strong, big, rough and weighty horses) with marauder ones!! marauder horses...light,dynamic and noble breed of horse!! i like those marauder horses ofc, in comparison to old weak stallions!! @Nightsword-horse is static coz of STANDING?=not moving like marauders and about attached legs- i fully agree!! i hate gw couse of that!!making more convertable mini should be their point! they think that all people imaginations is the same!!CONTRAIRE!!! we`r buying to make our own mini, unique one, right? e.g archaon-gr8 mini but ****ed up with those legs!argh!!? regards

![]() I have a theory about the lord's mount though. Don't you think it looks an awful lot like the Grudge Pony from the Bfsp set? I believe Mike Anderson bought the set and then proceeded to sculpt armor and spikes onto it. Shame on you Mr. Anderson! ![]() -Malakai

The Lord on Jugger looks great. I think that's exactly how one should look like.
The cover seems over the top, I am not a fan of exaggerating limbs to such an extend that the head (the flesh one beneath the helmet) is same size as the fist of the guy (or even smaller). :-) |

Well chaos lord's mout isn't normal horse or even Chaos steed, its Daemonic steed, so it should look different. And in fact I'm pretty sure that its legs are actualy longer than than those of Marauders' horses, it just that his huge body with few tons of armor makes them look short.
