I'm quite pleased that they're making the weapon sprue available seperately, this way I can add some weapons to my existing warriors that I've got lying about.

Wonder if that sprue will also work on the chaos knights? GW option = S6/AS2+?

Yup, and suddenly that box of warriors that I never got around to assembling isn't so bothersome anymore!

@Malakai: GW is probably just going to include it in the CW box at some point, recutting the sprues to fit it all in seems like a lot of work.

@Hastings: Any idea how many warriors are going to accommodated per sprue?

Good to see it is still on the way one way or another. One has to wonder if it is just new arms or will bodies be included? Did Nelson sculpt the addendum stuff or did Harrison take a crack at it?

I believe they would be S5(only +1 strength for mounted GW's) and AS 3+ because they lack shields.

Myztyk,

no it would be a 2+as cause chaos armour and barder steeds.

as for great weapons, no GW for mounted units, empire wolf knights are only exception (so far).

If anyone is suited to swinging great weapons from horseback, it's chaos. Or flails. Basically anything that's brutal and would be clumsy in the wrong hands, but which the warriors of Chaos can wield with unnatural skill.

Flails would be the best option I think, as an alternative to S5 weapon & shield. That way you have to choose whether to sacrifice armour save for extra hitting power on the charge.

I'm puzzled by the idea of GW releasing an upgrade sprue seperately from the unit box, I don't think they've ever done that with a new product before (?). I wonder if it will make it into the battalion box.

I like the cover. I was a bit worried the book was just going to be boring norsemen but all this stuff about monster armies and the crazily (chaotically) ornate Khornate artwork cheers me up. The lord is great, obviously.

That's why I was toying with the idea of collecting them this time around. I thought maybe it might be some conanesque barbarian/norseman army. The overkill chaos spike bling-thing stuff is what is getting tiresome. After 20 years or so you'd think GW would change their look some. Hopefully the cover is not indicative of the new knights.

Morningstars (or atleast the effects just like it); +1S on first round of combat AND it allows for shield, problem solved and finaly some one gets to use the M-stars beside Orc "Choppas" (well, only on foot but works as a hand weapon in combination with a shield) and Dogs of Wars Heroes (any one else?).

i personally am a big fan of flails for chaos, i wouold like it to become our signature weapon eg, brets lances , orcs choppas , empire halberds (albeit a rare choice in game play).

Also Farsot, Bret lords and heros (paladins and lords rather) have a morning star option

Malakai, I agree that spikes=evil is somewhat lazy shorthand, but I like the otherworldly nature of chaos and the less the mortal servants of the ruinous powers turn out looking like vikings, the happier I'll be. There is definitely a divide between people who want a norsemen army (much like people who want a Cathay army or an Ind army) and those who want chaos to be as bonkers as possible. I'd do a poll if I didn't think it would turn into a shouting match.

Does anyone know who sculpted the Juggernaut with Lord model? Kudos to the design and execution of this model, I won't be able to pass that one up!

Now here's to hoping GDLA gets us pics of the Knights and Chosen, and by the look so far this is going to be one very appealing line to me...

Jes Goodwin, IMO it is some of both his and GWs work to date.

I am loving that Jugger!

A head swap with a bloodletter and swapping that slightly wussy shield for a nice Hellblade and my herald with Iron Skin will be about ready!

They've done this with space marines for the Black Templar and Dark Angel upgrade sprues - so its not something that is totally out of the question!
