Default new tau snapped at games day [CLOSED]

heres some new (to me) pathfinders and a rather tasty battlesuit in the background, which im hoping someone can enlighten me about - is it plastic, a character or a FW resin model? the name of the sculptor in the background is Matt Holland (iirc)

The battlesuit appears to be from the Farsight Enclave -- that's their "sept" (for lack of a better term) symbol on the shield on the left arm. I wouldn't be surprised (wild stab in the darkest of darks) to find out that's actually a Forge World Take on O'Shovah himself. It wouldn't be the first time (Avatars of Khaine, Greater Demons) they've done their own versions of models available from GW proper.

I agree with you, this is definitely, O'Shovah. It is nice to see GW taking time to redo him. That could also lead to the conclusion that GW has some ideas of how to revamp the battlesuit in the near future, without necessarily combining it with a new codex.

As far as the pose is concerned, I like it very much. It is much much more dynamic than before!

cool stuff, love the tau on foot in the first pic. Would be cool to have a type of hardened vetran squad of tau, using an elite, something like Tau Komanndoswithout any type of suit just a gun drone for support and some sneaky tactic aiding rules.

I'd agree with the above poster; that battle suit looks like the man himself, and maybe the on foot model of him 'ejected' or as a flavor piece.

Not sure if those are just GW Special Edition models, Forgeworld models, or previews of what could possibly be plastics prototypes for Pathfinders and Snipers. Plastic Pathfinders in particular would be great.

If you take a closer look at the models, you'll see base rails underneath. So most likely resculpts, which don't make a whole lot of sense.

The Battlesuits are the biggest reason for my complete lack of interest in Tau. If they were to revamp them so that they actually looked good, I might even be tempted to get an army.

That and the horrid Tau crouching leg...they're not even the same length!

I'd love to see a redone Tau Suit...but then again I'm a fan of almost all their new stuff.

Neeto plastic railrifles. Too bad there is still no real reason to take them in a pathfinders squad. Markerlights are currently too good to give up for the points cost.

It reminds of Robotech, nice clean looking Mecha. It's not hard to do poses with the models, just requires imagination and patience.

As for teh pathfinders, I was standing next to the cabinet when a guy asked a GW employee about them. The GW guy said that they were study models made by trainees and that they were unlikely to see a release. Pretty sure that's what I heard but take with a pinch of salt.

I can shed a lot of light on this as I had a rather in-depth conversation with one of the sculptors.

These figures are done by a trainee who was told to "pick a race" to see how they can emulate GW's style. So, in all, you will probably never see them get released.

I mentioned Planetstrike as a good place to release both of these figures (certainly the Farsight one as it is FAR better than the current one) namely due to the Deep Striking ability of Crisis suits and the aiding in the act from Pathfinders.

They are all awesome. I always miss the good stuff. Great find. Planetstrike would be a good place to release.

What's with GW and their trainees these days? The old man scout was apparently also sculpted by a trainee and looks superb, as do these Tau.

They better employ those trainiees and start releasing!
