it's fairly easy to tell that the mounted banner bearer is metal, the bend in the banner pole gives it away. but i think you're right about the plastic spears thorgrim |

Why can't you wrap Image code around pics in this forum? Last edited by Leonathion; 19-04-2009 at 21:07. |

I'll be very disappointed if you're not right, Leo. :P
I'm not sure if I like how the Knights look at all, myself, but hey, cavalry in plastic is nice. |

I think those plastic galadhrim are the best LOTR models to date, its especially refreshing to see some appropriately sized long bows after so long looking at warhamer fantasy models- they're the only weapons that aren't bigger than a man, even though they should be.
An army of those with galadhrim with a few ents would be brilliant but far too much for my poor student bank account.

I still like the old Metal Galadhrim a lot more - the scale-mail has been sculpted on a little bizarrely on the new plastic mini's! I'll be getting the plastic set just for some extra poses though - 3 poses gets a little tiring at times :P
I'll probably be adding Haldir to my collection, but there is definite evidence for scale-creep in the GW sculpts now - look at the size of his scabbard!

Its odd that there would be scale creep in the LOTR models as they apparently created a set of masters for their other games that the sculptors use to determine the size of the models.
Is it only details or are the models actually changing size overall?

Yeah, I was just really hoping they'd all be plastic. Looks to be a banner in the Galadhrim box. It'd be nice if there's a hornblower arm.
Looks to be four shields there, and the one rider we can see is an archer. Let's hope there's weapons enough in there for them all to be armed with bows or shields, but that'd just be extra-nice on top. Nice catch, Sheck. Bottom of that poster is just some Warhammer stuff. But importantly, that standard in the top right looks to be the same as the one that came in the Heroes of Helm's Deep box from ages ago. |

I count -
2x Hand weapon 6x Head weapon + Shield 8x Glaive 8x Longbow The two without shield is a bit weird, but I guess you mix them in with the shields. They're nice models though

If the picture is anything to go by, it's a shame that box only has 6 shields instead of 16. At least it's better than buying them in metal!

It's the standard 8/8/8 Sword/spear/bow. The models with shields have spears, the model holding his blade in one hand is simply a different pose, it's not a matter of wargear. There's a spearman without a shield but i assume the shield is there, the 'Eavy metal team simply havent tacked it on (maybe it's on his back).
As plastics go, these are as good as they've ever been, though i'll probably trim the saddlecloth on the galadhrim knights which makes the horses look undersized. Dr Death
