Default Frostea's P.Log. BT, INQ, Mentors, etc..

Been lurking around these parts without a camera... Now that I've finally got one, I decided to open a painting log to whip myself to paint all those marines.

I don't have any photography equipments yet, so I'm using photoshop to optimise the pictures for clarity.

I'll only be posting pictures from the frontal views. If you want to see the side views, please visit my flickr photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/frostea/

Since a picture paints a thousand words, I'll just stfu and get to the delicious pictures.

"Templars! Oath you have taken. Vows you have sworn. Now, fufill them all! For the Emperor!" - Brother Lantham, the Emperor's Champion.

A random shot of my shelf.

Grimaldus, partial WIP. Had great fun painting those cloth.

Brother Lantham, the Emperor's Champion. Redid him 3 times before I was finally satisfied.

Marshal Zakram, leading the force. Only have purity seals left to work on.

Sword Brethren Terminators, shoulderpads and minor details WIP. Those forgeworld stuff really have a hell lot of details on them.

Brother Treaver, loads of details left to work on. The picture looks terrible, I'll try to take a better shot next time.

Predator Annihilator "Into the Flames" . This predator and Brother Treaver are added when I play games above 1500 points, which is rare.

These guys may look mostly done, but don't be decieved... Everytime I make a pass at them, I /facepalm at the amount of details left to paint. The terminators are the first models I ever painted.

A new model in progress (the previous picture has models painted a year back.) Back picture included to do this guy justice.

A moonscape that I took some time to paint decently

An update: 5 Neophytes

Did this fairly quickly... like 1 hour, sans base coat and metallics. Tried out a weathered look for the metals.

Neophytes assembled and ready sir!

Grey Knight Terminator still in progress.

Neophytes has had more details added since I took those pictures, which includes weathering to bolt pistols and swords/chainswords... only minor details left. Now have 4 marines with DA skirts and a land raider to finish up.

I think they are on several levels, worse than DE models. So we aren't thinking differently

Better pics of terminators and Brother Treaver. As usual, click on the pics, and select All Sizes (a button above the pic) to see larger res.

Great stuff. I respect anyone who decides to paint a predominantly black army cos I find it such a difficult colour to use.

Loving the Blood Angel honour guard.

everything else is really good too, but I'm a blood angel fan, never cared much for black templars.

Very good painting skill....What colours did you used for painting Grey Knights Terminators? I mean the armour and the NFW? Tks

If you're talking about the one currently in progress, its broken down like this

Prime with black. I used Mr. Hobby flat black for this one.

Armour
Mix boltgun metal with badab black with a 1:1 ratio, then paint onto armour.
Water+silver+gun metal in abt 3:1:1 ratio, paint on armour to start blending. Follow up with a 3:2:1 ratio to create a highlight.
Wash with a watered down asurmen blue.
White+silver abt 1:3 for extreme highlighting
Pure dots of white on angles where light reflects (didn't do this one yet)

Red details
Base with machrite red (foundation paint)
1 or 2 layers of Blood red, for purity seals, wash with sepia or orgryn flesh afterwards (preference-based)

Gold details
Paint 2 layers of bestial brown as base.
Paint shining gold. Use drybrushing for certain cases (runes, symbols) , then I used a tamiya titanium acrylic paint as a highlight. Alternatively, mix burnished gold and mithril silver 1:1 and it gives more or less the same colour.

Nemesis blade
Base with machrite red
Slowly blend with blood red+machrite, working your way up (down, in this case) by adding more and more white.
Before reaching the middle, add blazing orange to the mix. This prevents the colour from turning pink entirely.
Use pure white for extreme highlighting of the tip (Pictures don't show me doing it, did it after I took the pics)

Looks like I got a bit carried away hmm...

Thanks for all the kind comments.
