Default Next Fantasy Summer Campaign (with new miniatures, rules)

Hi folks,
I think this important news should not stay hidden in the Black Dragon thread:

There will be a major Warhammer Fantasy summer campaign next year. It will include some new rules ("lets call this V7.1.") and includes a lot of mainly cavalry miniatures (mostly plastic).

These are rumoured to be:
DE plastic Dark Riders and chariot.
Chaos (demon?) wave (Centigors?, Seekers?)
Empire wave (knights?, war altar?)
Goblin wave (wolf riders?)
Vampire Count wave (black knights?)
Dwarves (Forge World airship!, no cavalry)

Most rumours are by steppingonyou and confirmed by 75hastings69.

Be aware that these rumours come quite early, more than half a year ahead of the date, so don't expect too many details and revelations for the next few months.

Well, lets say i did hear something somwhere (though guys, take this with all the salt you can find - even though it does make some sense) that the next waves for the already existing armies will be mainly 'mount based'. That is to say, i assume, knights for empire, black knights for the VC's, (wolf riders for the gobbos?) Though the empire knights might not be the most obvious answer, it's safer to assume that we'll be getting a war altar (but once they're in the mood for armoured horses, the'd might aswell make some knights )

I've heard this too.

2010 was supposed to be the year for Fantasy.

Any idea on the geographical location of the campaign?

For the chaos wave a plastic chaos chariot (+shrine?) seems plausible. It's one of the oldest rumours (Paul Sawyer mentioned it years ago) that has yet to be fulfilled.

Nice bit of "icing on the cake", I think that allot of these models would be better off if they were released, not in 2nd waves, but different parts of the campaign. Now that would be cool.

Could the November Skavens release be tied into this campaign?

Interesting rumours, the cav release has been rumoured for a long time, but this seems to verify it to some degree.

I wonder what the V7.1 rules will be. Maybe something to do with the rumoured new magic system, a new BRB, just some updates, well I'll just have to watch this space for more rumours to come.

I bet this is the reason so many calvary models aren't being released. See VC, DE, DoC, Empire, and Dwarfs. (just kidding) Lets hope for a errata as well!

Not to mention being specifically singled out by Phil Kelly, i.e. the author of the book, as being in the works at GDUK last year.

I hope they don't change the magic system. But I wonder what are those "new rules", then...

It might be a trial of new rules, before deciding to incorporate them into the next edition. Probably solves the problem of secretly testing them and then trying to plug leaks.

I thought this was going to be a 'Nagash!!!' thread...

A cavalry supplement was mentioned a few years ago, sounds like it's re-surfacing.

New goblin cavalry? Why? Spider riders just came out. The wolf riders are from 6th Ed. It's orc boar boyz that need an update. They have been the same orc boar boyz since....well....almost as long as the Empire Knight has been around. Savage orc boar boyz are old, too.

The Goblin Wolf Riders are still ok (although the Gobbos are a bit oversized now).
I would much prefer new boars for the Boar Boyz.

New goblin wolf cavalry (if it is them) coming out sounds like an odd choice, especially since the wolf riders themselves would look different from the common goblins.

Boar boys make more sense I think.

Not me. The boars might be older, but they're not horrendous as some want to make them, and they fit fine in the line. Gobs, as they stand, are a mish mash of different scales, at that annoyes me much more (besides, what is more used, wolves or boars? ).
Btw, about common gobs, I've seen masters of the new night gob plastics, and, well, they're made out from naked gobs. I can't believe they won't make new common gobs soon, it's just a matter of sculpting other clothes on those naked gobs.
