Default New commando heads from Micro Art Studio's

Hello,

I hadn't seen this posted yet.

MAS is releasing a set of five resin commando heads, looks like a great fit for Imperial Guard.

Hey, those are really nice! Always good to get more variety into the IG. Would be great for command squads, sarges or vets.

Those look really nice but... Why are they all wearing the beret differently? I mean some flop to the left, while others flop to the right?

Not appropriate for this forum, though. It's always been the mods' view that 40k News and Rumors should include only GW product.

Most likely the sculptor knew nothing of army culture with regards to headgear (where berets are worn the same way by everyone) and simply copied what they thought was right.

Most likely to fit in with all GW lines in which nobody wears their uniforms in an uniform way, making them, well, not uniform ;P

I quite like them. I'd like them a lot if they didn't have those lame GI Joe headsets. The moustached one is really badass in an oldschool sort of way though.

I think they look over cool. They should definitely do more scifi military heads for humans.

West Wind Studios do something similar for there WW2 seperate head system range.

They also have a little winged symbol which is very convenient

If that is indeed so it would be good if that would be put into script somewhere. So that those of us who are not slaved to GW can go to more freeminded forums.

Luckily I have not yet seen any sensible "news" crushed down on the issue that it is not GW stuff. I think being usefull for 40k background should be sufficient.

Apart from that, nice heads. I will probably build me a veteran squad with it. They seem to fit well with the old IG stormtroopers (the REALLY old).

That's the truth. The one's from Westwind are 30cents more expensive, and come in a box of 20. Although there are only 8 different heads, it's still a better deal.

To be honest I am not really a big fan of those. They are well done I just don't like them.

Bah, when the hell is someone going to create some female heads?! There are some metal ones but they look like doodoo. Id like to see some female heads in the same quality as the above heads. I want to make my female IG company damn it!

Hasslefree Miniatures do metal female heads here and here and they also do some ace female figures with guns in varying degrees of Guard-a-likeness, I have some of them and all have a place in my Imperial Armies:

Adeptus Munitorum Driver (IG Conscript),
Imperial Guard NCO/Officer or Inquisitorial Retinue,
Imperial Guardswoman or Inquisitorial Retinue,
Imperial Guardswoman or Inquisitorial Retinue,
Primaris Psyker, Astropath or Inquisitorial Psyker,
Inquisitrix (I use mine as a Daemonhuntress),
Death Cultist,
Death Cultist,
Inquisitrix (I use mine as a Daemonhuntress with the Psychic Ward power).

The three Guardswomen make up the Veteran Bodyguard of my HQ Daemonhuntress Inquisitrix, while my (praying) Elite Daemonhuntress Inquisitrix has this female Varingr (Squat!) mercenary to help her out.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and the MAS commando heads are nice; probably have a better time on Catachans than Cadians tho'.

Hmm. The humble beret seems to be a source of constant confusion for civilian sculptors, painters, film-makers and videogame-type-people.

It's easy! It's pulled to the left - cap badge over the right eye... or vice versa. Just pick one and stick with it.

Unless, of course, you're sculpting a militia force.

Meh, they don't look like berets... more like floppy caps.

I am usually a really big fan of Micro Art, I have quite a lot of their stuff, but I don't really like these... Or at least, not for my IG. They look a bit plain. They seem better suited for a WWII type game.

So, what is that thread about mantic games doing in the Fantasy news forum?

Back on topic, those heads look pretty good, not in my taste of IG, but they are great for conversions and projects like that.

Cheers!

Really? Are you sure about that? There are plenty of other Micro-Art Studios news articles in this forum if you look...

Anything that is out there which can be used to model 40k stuff should be considered relevant.

I know if someone, somewhere makes a perfect 30mm heroic scale wolf which looks big enough to be used as cavalry, I would want it posted here ASAP regardless of whether it is GW sanctioned or not!
