Dark Angels Line Up

here is the line up for the new sculpts for the Dark Angels codex

The release is currently planned for late 1st/early 2nd quater next year (around April/May time). kurttkrueger mentioned that he was told the DA releases would start in February, so this could be when the Army Set(s) are released.

The codex will definitly be a full size one, similar to the black templars. (cf)

new models -

2 or 3 new HQ models - special characters and new librarian models, 4 poses and a terminator librarian similar to the chaplains for black templars. Remake of Dark angels captain.
Rumoured Master of the Ravenwing on Jetbike (This has now been confirmed from a variety of sources, no info on the model yet though)

Upgrade sprue, similar to the one released for black templars (battleforce, sets of dark angels squads etc. will be splash releases, then will only be available in a pack similar to the black templars chapter upgrade.) (cf)

No Tank Upgrade sprue, but a plastic ravenwing sprue (thanks Brimstone)

plastic accessories may be included on the troop upgrade sprue to upgrade the new plastic terminators to deathwing, with an extra assault cannon (tbc)

Ravenwing release will include a generic plastic sprue to make Landspeeder Typhoons and Tornados

A new Drop Pod, Devastators and Vindicator (tbc)

Drop Pod - GW are trying to do it in time for codex dark angels but if not it will be released with a future supplement, probably Apocalypse or similar.

2 army deals will be available - 1 Ravenwing and 1 normal Dark Angels (tbc)

There WILL also be some input from ForgeWorld, unsure as to what level as yet.

NEW INFO - FW will be making another set of DA specific doors and a DA dreadnought, so that should stop everyone moaning about the lack of a Tank upgrade sprue .

Rumoured DA codex cover from the GW artwork exhibition, thanks to Footsteps (see attachment).

RULES

Deathwing Terminator command squads can have Apothcaries etc. (tbc)

That's great news, I'll have to get one. Hopefully we'll be seeing some more stuff along these lines; a generic Blood Angels commander (with halo and death mask) would be nice.

Oh dear. Please tell me it won't have the silly helmet, but will have a robe.

Shame there won't be a tank sprue as well. Hopefully they will put a dreadnaught sarchophagus plate on the troop accessory sprue.

Also as Bregalad mentoned in the other thread, there is word of Drop Pod special rules for Dark Angels.

All in all I'm looking forward to the release.

Note that the Destris said the commanders (including the one Brimstone says will be a re-do of the original DA commander) are special characters, not generic commanders.

Plastic commander + Chapter specific spure = chapter specific generic commanders.

In the unofficial Index Astartes for epic, Dark Angels can pay for a Battle Barge, and on a roll of a 6 (i think) The Rock turns up instead!

Yes it will have the helmet, but your desire for robes will be more than adequately catered for.

Who needs a tank sprue when you get a set of DA Icons to stick where you want, you already get blank doors in the generic kits.

There is still divided rumour whether the plastic drop pod will be ready for the DA release or will come very much later. Seems to be planned to go together, but perhaps the delayed release for the Orks (design problems with modular trukk kit) pushed the DA release too early. But the inclusion of the special drop pod rules are meant too beef up the otherwise too slim Codex and making it interesting for other chapters too.

Hmm. Well, this leaves me wondering if its a remake of Azrael, with the helmet on, in the style of the old captain.

I don't care about the doors. I wanted a DA specific dreadnaught sarchophagus, like the one the BT's got on their vehicle sprue.

Well, there are DA specific arms for the Forge World Dreadnaught already. Perhaps they will also do a body, too, when the DA Codex appears. There are a Black Templar and two Grey Knights specific bodies right now.
