Wink High Elf release date finally known... roughly (from thread in 40k rumours)

From a thread in 40k rumours. There is a variety of other Fantasy related stuff there but most of it is know already.

Thanks to Rob0362 for originally posting this.

Not as early as we'd hoped originally, but at least we now know a rough window for when we're likely to get rumours, and these wil probably be solid as the book is now finished.
What sounds promising is that Rob says the book will be huge. Hopefully tha means lots of fluff and interesting rules (and not just pretty pictures of the models )

And no this isn;t just an excuse to start another High Elf spamming thread, I felt it would be useful to have over here so we can discuss it.

Right, I'll leave this open to everyone else.

And how did you work out November from that? I marvel at the intelligence on this forum sometimes

Good to hear! My birthday is in November, so maybe I will be getting something extra special this year .

And since it's been confirmed that the book is finished we should be getting more solid rumours this time around. Harry always said that anything he or anyone said about the book should not be trusted 100% because the book wasn't finished and everything was subject to change, but now he hasn't got that excuse...

And the fewer excuses Harry has to not tell us stuff the better

I wonder what is meant with huge. The last one was not really small but if they especially say that this one is huge, hmmm. What additional parts will be in it, I wonder?

Wrong, this is the moment where Harry stop telling us things - his specialty are rumours and as this got solid it is no longer interesting him.

Have fun,

Rolf.

That's exactly what it was rumored in Watchman, IIRC. Good, just the time to finish my O&G army and go back to my main High Elf one.

Which Watchman? I thought Watchman 1 didn't say anything about the High Elf release date except that it was getting later.

Well its good to know about the plastic dwarf box set, i couldnt find anything that said if those were plastic or metal. I wasnt looking forward to hacking of that BSB "come get me" arm.

Can't wait to see a "Big" High Elf book, prolly be some good new fluff in there, also a lot of rewrites for their special characters.

I don't think that the new dwarf heroes are plastic. On the last page oif the thread about GD France it shows the greens and resins for the models; and they don;t look at all like a plastic kit.

Ya, they do look like metal but i have been tricked before, in the quote above it says:

"Dwarves get a Lord on Oath stone and BSB plastic box"

So i was drawing a conclusion that seemed right but who knows, maybe you have more info then i do on this...still crossing my fingers for plastic.

Hmm.. There was a sprue made but it was borken and dropped. it isn't know atm whether they're redoing it and these metal ones are just fillers, or whether they've abandoned it completely. This would seem to suggest the former, which is good

In Watchman 1 I just said I originally heard it was in the summer but it seened to be getting later and later. In watchman 2 I say that it will be out in November with the rest of the releases in December in time for Christmas. (you would have read it there first had The Watchman 2 appeared by now)

The books 'hugeness' may refer to the impact it will have!
However, as it currently stands it is about 20 % bigger than the Empire book and about 40 % bigger than the Orc and Goblin book so it should be a cracking read!

I say 'as it stands' because whatever anyone may have heard (or assumed) ...The book is still not finished.

The three Dwarf Lords we have seen are metal. (You get Oathstone boy and BSB packed in a blister together).

They may still remake the mould for the plastic Dwarf Lord kit. (I have not heard a time scale ... I am thinking not before Christmas).

You just misunderstood the facts. The reported minis from GD France are metal. Obviously (take a look at O&G as well as Empire) it is planed to have a box with a plastic general and BSB for all races. There was one for the Dwarves as well, but the mold got broken. So this metal ones are there to fill a gap. I read the above message as: "Yes, we will create a new/repair/rebuild the broken mold an eventually the Dwarves will get such a plastic box as well.".

I am afraid you will need to hack into metal if you will amend the BSB.

Have fun,

Rolf.

I would love to see a sprue of Dwarf Beards! Think of the options! These metal figs don't really impress me that much, the one on the oath stone is prolly the only one that i would get considering i like the old BSB model better.

Another of the accursed two wave releases then i presume

And Harry, all these hints about how good this book is going to be are getting to me, as i now know how long it will be before I get to see it!

Off topic again I'm afraid.

Quote Empire wizards box can make 2 wizards they can be form each of the five Empire colleges or generic.
Aren't there 8 colleges of magic?

Which colleges aren't getting mages? From the preview pics, it looks like you can put together wizards from the Bright, Amethyst and Light colleges, what are the other two and/or who's missing?

Also there is Celestial that can be done easily, and Gold. Those are the 5 in the box and it shouldn;t be too hard to convert the other three.
