orgryns are nice and all (and i'll admit to consider picking up some), but i'd say release them and rough riders all new in boxes. if i have to pick up 10 blisters, i'm going to get annoyed and turned away.... again...

I agree with Rough Riders needing minis just as badly as Ogryns, But it seems like GW is trying update a ton of things at once for 40k. The problem is that everything is getting bottlenecked... Maybe we'll see new Rough Riders with the release of our next codex.

Ogryns still kick major ass though, and I'll buy these as long as they aren't just repackaged crap.

I have found Ogryns to be pretty effective in my Last Chancers Army i just use one unit as a "slow them down unit" and the other as a "hold the line" unit. I think what they really need is the heavy ccw/choppa rule on the ripper gun, it makes more sense than adding to strength, and while not a power weapon (which would be too much, make no sense fluff wise, and likely make them even higher point wise) it makes them far more effective against heavily armored troops. giving them carapace armor would be nice, but really why give them better armor than the bulk of your troops? If doctorines stick around maybe the ability to apply the carapace armor special equipment doctorine to them would be nice though. The models could do with a bit of an update to bring them in line with the rest of the models, but I don't think they should necessarily look like any one group of guard, a look all their own would be best I think.

Ratlings on the other hand, the one thing I have never understood, why give BS 4 to a unit that fires a weapon that hits on a 2+ regardless of BS, and doesn't have another weapon? That aside the models never really fit the concept to me, Now the picture of the ratling in the codex THAT's how i see a ratling. Small, sneaky and really angry looking with a gun that's almost as big as he is. Then again, i have to admit i do use them from time to time when I'm feeling like annoying my opponent to no end.

It would be nice to have IG bikes back, at least as an option for alternate Rough Rider builds. The conversion guide at the GW site is all well and good, but it's not very cost effective.

Fluff wise, they should give the Bone 'eads a large orgyn sized chainsword. And because of the size of the weapon and the str of the orygn, it should count as a power weapon. It would be a Orygn (or Bone 'head) only weapon.

Sentinal chain saws look great as a bayonet for Ogryns. The scales is right, and it's just about subtle enought to work...

Quote Now I know what to use my old school Imperial Jetbikes for: Mounted Ogryns! I can cut down the bases so it looks like the poor jetbikes are straining to carry the weight of the Ogryns.
Make sure to drink a lot of alcohol before you play with those jetbike models (or offer it to the opponent).. No one should be sober if they're forced to look at the horrid 1980 models during a game

well if they are releasing new ogryns, and if they are plastic, i hope they look nothing like the wh ogres personally, as i really dont think they look good as 40k ogryns having seen the multitude of conversions, only the ones that have had nearly a full resculpt are half way there. as for ratlings i am not sure and not that bothered i never liked the old minis and if they did them in plastic i dont think they would be any good due to the detail that was in the last ones for such a small mini. my 2cents worth anyhow although some new ogyns would be cool if they looked like the fw ones, in fact everything at gw would look better if they were done by fw lol

Seriously, for like the 3rd or 4th time:

The new Ogryns are going to be released in metal. They are not plastic.

Do you know what style they will be in? Are they making a modernised replica of the old ogryns, or a new look entirely?

According to my source, who ahs seen them, the new ogryns are different from the old ones. They are supposed to be tough looking and fairly dynamic. So, I guess the answer is "new look".

Sounds good to me. Thanks yankeeboy. Now all we need is a release date.

A release date would be nice.

[rant]But what I really want to see are some god damned pics. Why is it that there are all these people out there who can see these minis in advance yet no one thinks to get pics.
I'd understand if it was a friend within GW releasing some stuff that could get them in trouble though... It's just when something is seen at WH world and no one can get pics for a week after they're first seen. [/rant]

I suggest we launch a midnight raid on warhammer world, ninja-style, with the aim of obtaining photos of these new ogryns. Maybe we can take a peek at the new plastic baneblade while we're there. Do you think GW HQ has laser beams and defence servitors? Because they might be a problem.

Stand down gents the raid's off. Where did you get these pics, and more importantly do you have any more? Those commissars are absolutely gorgeous, except the chainsword looks a little old style. Would have to replace that with a straighter new one.

Not sure about the ogryn, need a different angle on the head. Nevertheless looks promising.

Wow, I love the Commissar with the Bolt pistol! As well as the one with the Power fist and Imperial scripture, very nice.

The Ogryn is a toss up though... I was expecting a little more. Hopefully the others look better.

Aww. And I was all excited for a raid...

Still, the models are looking very good! It's too bad I use neither of those units in my army.

Really? The commissars? I'll take your word for it, but they certainly look plastic to me.
