Warhammer 40,000Blood Angels Rumour Roundup
Darnok 27/01/2010 - 14:02
The new Blood Angels codex will be released in April 2010. This thread tries to sum up the current state of rumours. A first collection was made by Angeloftheblood: Sanguinor has muscular armour similar to the current Dante miniature. His single engine Jump Pack has large wings on the sides and a halo on top. He adopts the classic “exalted angel” pose similar to Celestine with arched back and arms flung wide. His face is passive with shoulder length, wavy hair. His left hand holds a small grail, his right holds a sword.
Astorath has muscular armour similar to the current Mephiston miniature. He has a shouting head with long, flowing hair and a single engine Jump Pack with small wings on the sides. He is posed to be coming down in a hard 2-handed overhead swipe with an axe that’s handle is crafted to resemble a spine. Sanguinor has the typical broad-bladed sword used by most Space Marines. The Blade is a hand-span wide, straight, with a diamond point and a Fuller. The Guard is a typical cross guard, slightly embellished and with no Quillions. The Grip is about a one and a half hander, and the Pommel is quite plain.
Chapter Master Gabriel Seth is armed with an Eviscerator (or very large Chainsword) which is longer than he is, double edged, with a very long grip (about 3.5-4 hand spans). He has fairly standard Power Armour, sparsely adorned with some scrollwork etc, and his backpack sports a cloak, small wings and an Iron Halo. His right shoulder pad has trim shaped like a saw blade, and his left sports a Flesh Tearers symbol with a single wing, similar to Tycho’s heraldry. He is posed running forward, pulling back for a two-handed sideways sweep of his blade and has the standard yelling head.
The Venerable Dreadnought being released with Battle Missions does not come with a right arm Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon, and so is not a combined Furioso kit.
Does come with a plasma cannon as an option still though right ?
There are plenty of other decorative options including multpile head options. I would much rather see a Lemartes resculpt
Lemartes, Guardian of the Lost, will get a brand new and much better miniature upon release. He stands atop a small pile or rubble, feet together, with right arm pointing a Bolt Pistol and left arm at ease holding a Crozius topped with a 2-headed eagle. His armour is adorned with many rivets and purity seals. His right shoulder pad is a jawless skull, and his left sports an embossed Blood Angels icon. His torso has a harness for his Jump Pack which itself is adorned with chains and charms and has the Blood Angels icon embossed on top of both intake vents. His helmet is a haloed skull with pipes to the sides of the mouth, but this time the eyes have lenses and the halo is more subtle. Due to the German page 40kings we got some rumours concerning Mephiston, the Furioso Librarian, and psychic powers. Vovin kindly translated them. These are to be taken with a grain of salt: Ok, here a hand-made translation. The internet translations are rather ... inconvenient.
I omit the chit-chat at the beginning and summarize the relevant parts instead of doing of a word for word translation. 1. article: Mephiston http://www.40kings.de/?p=695 - costs: 325 points + x (this is a guess of the authors and not part of the actual rumours) - stats:gigantic, better than before - special rules: ATSKNF, IC, Lord of Death, psyker, knows all 6 psychic powers - weapons: Scarlet Fang, Force weapon, Plasma pistol, grenades, Psychic hood - Lord of Death: no Red Thirst (army wide special rule, if leadershiptest fails wehen enemy is in 12" unit has rage), no Furious charge (otherwise army wide special rule), instead: Feel no Pain, Fearless, Eternal Warrior -Scarlet Fang: can replace instant death power with one of the other psychic powers. He can use this power without psychic test and it no longer counts as psychic power but instead as normal special rule. A psychic hoodfor example is useless against this power. 2. article: Furioso Librarian: http://www.40kings.de/?p=704 - costs: expensive, way more than a Dreadnought (unclear if this is also speculation or part of the rumour) - stats: common Dreadnought stats with some small spikes. He is a Furioso too. - rules: walker, Furioso Supremo, Red Thirst, Furious Charge - items: 2 dreadnought ccw, one with melta gun, one with stormbolter, smoke launcher, searchlight normal options like heavy flamer - can take 2 powers: Quickening, Might of Heroes, Shockwave - transports: Drop Pod, Tantalus Drop Ship - Furioso Supremo: can cast one power with leadership 10. He takes a glancing hit from every Peril of the warp attack. Otherwise he doesn't count as psyker in every regard! article 3: psychic powers: http://www.40kings.de/?p=715 Quickening: used at the start of the turn, gives (only the psyker) beast movement. If the psyker is not infantery, he gets fleet. He has to be on the table to cast it (comment from me: to my understanding that means you can't use it in a transport). If Mephiston is casting this spell, his unit gets the faster movement too. Blood Stasis: shooting power, 12" range, 5" blast, every non vehicle unit under the blast template counts as being in difficult terrain. If they move they get a S10 AP2 hit for every 1 on the difficult terrain test. If they shoot, they get a S5 AP- hit for every 1 on the roll to hit. Might of Heroes: used at the start of the assault phase. one model in 6" (that includes the psyker) gets D3 extra attacks Primarchs Grace: used at the start of the turn, Librarian and unit can ignore terrain until the end of the round Living Darkness: shooting power, 6" range, 5" blast, stays in place until the start of the next Blood Angel turn. No line of sight can be traced through the marker except the targeting unit has Acute Senses USR Shockwave: shooting power, vehicles in 12" get a S6 AP1 hit against its side armour. in 6" 2 hits and in 3" 3 hits. cover saves are not allowed. Transfixing Gaze (Mephiston only): begin of the assault phase, hinders enemy to attack, like Genestealer Broodlord, on a draw nothing happens Vortex of Blood (Mephiston only): can use it before he attcks. every model in base to base contact makes a Toughness test. If it fails it gets a wound. saves are allowed. If at least one wound was caused every successful hit roll from this on until the end of the round against Mephiston has to be rerolled. Planetstrike Rumours
The Dude 18/03/2009 - 23:50
***Read this first*** I'll be keeping this post updated, so make sure you check it first before posting any "new" info For those that don't know, Planetstrike is a rumoured Expansion in the same vein and Cities Of Death that will add extra rules to regular 40K games. It appears it will focus on Attacker/Defender type missions with special rules to suit. This could even go so far as to cover Siege warfare. General Info: Planet Strike will supposedly be released in July. Cover can be seen here: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...8&d=1239144460 Rules: In a game of Planet Strike, the Attacker/Defender split will be very important, with them possibly getting different FOCs. Defender Gets to place all terrain on the battlefield and picks his table edge. He can declare Terrain to be dangerous if he wants (Mined for example) although it’s not clear how much he can do this for. There will be buildings with mounted weapons, like armed bunkers etc. Probably, the defender will have to place all of his army. Attacker May place some Craters to get some cover. May move in from his table edge, Deep Strike and Outflank, similar to a "Dawn of War" Scenario. May also get some goodies like a prepared Artillery fire on the defending units, special equipment etc. Will most likely get first Turn. What the actual Missions will be is yet to be seen. Releases: New multipart plastic terrain kit similar to the Cities of Death ruins. With enough of those you will possibly be able to build fortresses, defensive structures for tanks, or control towers, outposts etc. Possibly this: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...4&d=1237910636 http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...3&d=1237910636 It has now been revealed that the Tower is scratchbuilt, but the barricades are what will be released. The barricades have been used as the ramparts of the Tower. The Fortress is apparently visible on the Sentinal box. Aircraft landing pad, apparently with "movable pieces" ![]() Possibly similar to this: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...5&d=1237910636 http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...6&d=1237910636 http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...7&d=1237910636 New craters Ironclad Dreadnaught Land Speeder Storm Vulkan Hes'tan. Mini can be seen here: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...6&d=1239143373 Possibly more Daemons stuff IG Plastic Stormtroopers/Grenadiers may get a release Eldar Jetbikes have been mentioned as a slim possibility Plastic Thunderhawk is again mentioned, and has been rumoured to have been shown to Retail Selling Staff (the guys who sell to independant retailers). Necron Rumour Summary
The Dude 29/01/2009 - 03:36
Okay, as I havent yet gone mad looking after IG rumours, I thought Id have a crack at the Necrons. Now they are further out, so dont expect too much here for a while. The same rules as my IG thread apply. No wishlisting (go here for that) and stick to discussion of the rumours and how they will affect you or other rules. If you have something new, but wish to remain anonymous, PM me. General Info Brimstone has said Necrons should appear late 2009 early 2010 at the earliest. Rules There will supposedly be 3 tiers of Lord in a similar vein to the Necron background section of the Apocalypse book. Each tier will supposedly have more options as you go up. The top tier is rumoured to be the CTan infused, or simply mad version of the Lord, keeping the Ctan models useable in regular 40K. Some say there is the possibility of a "Spyder Lord", although this is likely just mutant wishlisting. There was some talk of CTan replacing a normal Lord mid-battle Some say the C'Tan will become apocalypse only, possibly getting Forge World models. This would differentiate them from the CTan infused or Mad Lord that thinks its a CTan. Some say we can expect to see Named Lords such as those that appeared in the Medusa V campaign background. "We'll Be Back" is rumoured to either receive a major overhaul or to be replaced by Feel No Pain. This is rumoured to be for game speed reasons. The benefits and drawbacks of this change have been widely discussed. There are vague rumours that most if not all units in the army will receive a +1T boost. There are even vaguer rumours of a potential drop to 4+ Armour Save The Gauss Rule is rumoured to be change. The most common rumour to this is that Gauss will not receive the usual -2 on the auto-glance, but instead only a -1 on a glance, effectively giving them the same result as they currently have. Some people have guessed that Gauss will simply be replaced with Rending, although many others believe this is unlikely. No firm rumours have emerged yet either way. Necron Warriors are rumoured to be 20ish points (possibly 22) each with T5. They will also supposedly get some form of Grenade. Some say Warriors and Immortals will get Slow and Purposeful or possibly even Relentless. It is rumoured that there will be at least one more troop choice coming from either a rearranged FOC or possibly a brand new unit. It is rumoured that one or more new units is being developed There will possibly be new types of scarabs. Builder scarabs for repairing friendly units, and combat scarabs for combat. It has been said that the Monolith will go up to 300 points There has been some talk of a new vehicle. What this is unclear, with many people suspecting something smaller than a Monolith such as the Pylon or Obelisk. Ork Stompa

Codex Imperial Guard Rumours
Brimstone 31/05/2008 - 10:51
Rumoured for release in 2009 we have these rumours thanks to Dosadi Warseer discussion is here. Army wide special rule: I think its called Platoon Drill or something like that. Basically, units from the same platoon may ignore intervening squads when shooting. So enemy units targeted in this way do not receive the 4+ save. Apparently this only works if the Platoon command squad is alive and within 12 of the rest of the platoon. Ive been told that this is just one of the abilities guard Platoons may get, but only as long as the chain of command is intact (whatever that means). So loosing your HQ Command Squad may be a really bad thing. Doctrines are for sure gone (I think we all knew this), but have been replaced by more mutable platoons. Instead of Armoured fist squads you can buy Chimeras for a whole platoon. Or buy the whole platoon grav-chutes to give them deep strike, or drop the heavy weapons from squads and give the platoon Scout. Veteran squads become upgrades to platoons (i.e. they are not elites anymore). Apparently infantry platoons let you attach certain types of support vehicles to them(kinda like back in second edition). Things like sentinels, hellhounds and demolishers can be attached to platoons. They still take up a FOC spot, but become part of the platoon and so will benefit from the Platoon Drill rule. The Leman Russ can be bought as a squadron so you can get 3 for a single FOC. They can not be attached to platoons however. Sniper Squads can now infiltrate, get stealth, range finders and all models in the squad have sniper rifles (and BS 4!). Like the Land Raider, a new plastic sprue for the Leman Russ has been made that will allow plastic demolishers and a 3rd variant (my money is on the Exterminator). The Baneblade in NOT in the new codex. It just doesnt work (i.e. overpowered)in games that are not Apocalypse in size. However Stormtrooper squads can now take Valkyries as transports. Both will be getting a plastic kit. Valkyries follow the rules for skimmers Ive been told. Again, they want to keep flyers and super heavies out of normal games but give people the ability to use them with all the special rules in Apocalypse and Planet-strike (if the ever get around to that.) This last one makes me wonder whats they are doing, but apparently there is a new HQ in the book; Inquisitor and Retinue much like the elites from the current Daemon Hunters/Witch Hunters books. The Demiurg
Brimstone 02/07/2006 - 20:45
Long rumoured to be the sucessors to the Squats the Demiurg have so far only made an appearance in Battlefleet Gothic. Jervis Johnson has had this to say on the subject. I know I shouldn't get drawn on this... but... can't... resist Seriously, a couple of points just so you can have an informed debate based on the real reasons that Squats are no longer available. Be warned, it is going to be hard reading for people that like the Squat background. First of all, Squats were *not* dropped because they were not selling well. There were then, and are now, plenty of other figure ranges that sell in the sort of % quantaties that the Squats pulled down, especially when you look across all of the ranges produced by GW rather than just those for 40K. No, the reason that the Squats were dropped was because the creatives in the Studio (people like me, Rick, Andy C, Gav etc) felt that we had failed to do the Dwarf 'archetype' justice in its 40K incarnation. From the name of the race (Squats - what *were* we thinking?!?!) through to the short bikers motif, we had managed to turn what was a proud and noble race in Warhammer and the other literary forms where the archetype exists, into a joke race in 40K. We only fully realised what we had done when we were working on the 2nd edition of 40K. Try as we might, we just couldn't work up much enthusiasm for the Squats. The mistake we made then (deeply regreted since) was to leave them in the background and the 'get you by' army list book that appeared. With hindsight, we should have dropped the Squats back then, and saved ourselves a lot of grief later on. Anyway, the Squats made it into 2nd edition, and since we were doing army books for each of the races, we started to try and figure out what to do with them. Unfortunately we just couldn't figure out a way to update them and get them to work that we felt was good enough. The 'art' of working on an army as a designer is to find the thing that you think is cool and exciting about an army, and work it up into a strong theme. This 'muse' didn't strike any of us, and so, rather than bring out a second-rate product simply re-hashing the old background, we kept doing other army books instead, with stuff we did feel inspired by. Now, while this was all going on for 40K, we were actually doing some rather good stuff for the Squats in Epic. On this scale there was a natural tendancy to focus on the big 'hand-made' war machines the Squat artisans produced, and this created an army with a feel that was very different to the biker hordes in 40K. However, this tended to reinforce the problems we saw in the Squat background rather than alleviate them, underlining what we *should* have done with the Squats in 40K. In the end (and it took years to really get to the roots of the problem) this led to a realisation that we were going to have to drop the Squats in their 'Squat' form from the 40K background. There was little point having a major race that we weren't willing to make an army book for, and their inclusion in the background meant that people kept asking us when we'd do a Squat Codex. Instead we decided that we'd write the Squats out of the background by saying that their Homworlds had been devoured by a Tyranid Hivefleet. This would give us the option in the future to return to making a race based on the Squat archetype for 40K. This race was given the name of Demiurg, and a certain amount of preliminary work was done to get a 'feel' for what the race would be like. At present the only hint of the Demiurg in 40K is the Demiurg spaceship for BFG. However, we do have this race 'in our back pocket' as a possible new race for 40K, or an interesting character model in Inquisitor, or whatever. So far the Demiurg have lost out to other projects, and it may be that their time never actually comes, as they will have to win through on their merits, not simply because we once made some Squat models in the past. At present, I have to say that it is more lilely that they *don't* make the cut than do, as there is a certain predudice these days to simply taking races from Warhammer and cross them over to 40K like we did in the early days, so it may be that the Squats/Demiurg end up remaining a footnote in the history of the 40K galaxy. Only time will tell... I'll finish off by saying that whatever we decide to do 'officially', there is nothing stopping players with Squat armies from using them, either in Epic or 40k for that matter. There is no GW 'rule' against using old Citadel Miniatures, as long as you use them with exisiting army lists and in a way that won't cause confusion for other players. I recommend taking a positive stand by saying "Have you seen these cool old models? They're called the Squats and GW used to make them back in the late eighties/early nineties. I love 'em, so I count them as Imperial Guard and use them with the current rules..." Put like this I can't imagine that anyone would stop you from using your army. How does the Rumour Roundup forum work?
Sylass 24/06/2006 - 14:00
Hiho, this time each subject will get it's own thread instead of compiling all news and rumours in a single thread. New pictures, rumours or news will be added as a new post so that these updates will show up if you use the "new posts" feature of the forums. In order to prevent pictures added by [img]-tags vanishing (bandwidth of the gallery exceeded or picture got deleted), pictures will be added as attachments from now on. Brimmy did a very good job on keeping the old Roundup updated and I hope he'll continue working on the new Rumour Roundup like he did before.
