Folks,

I have the older Giant model, and the older Skarsnik model.

Is the new Giant on a Chariot base?

Is the new Skarsnik & Gobbla on a 40mm base?

Thanks for any help.

They are both on a 'chariot' base, the Giant's front is the narrow edge, while Skarsnik fronts to the wide edge.

Skarsnik takes up a whole lot of template space, but only kills one trooper when he passes his 'Look Out Sir!'

Actually, Skarsnik is on a 40mm x 60mm base. Anyone know what this makes his unit strength?

No one knows for sure what his unit strength is nor how he ranks in a unit. Not even GW.

The giant is also not on a chariot base.
Chariot base = 100x50 mm, giant is on 75x50mm.
Skarsnik is indeed on a 60x40mm, with the 60 mm to the front.

And on page 38 (skarsnik special rules page) it says: unit strength: 3
So why isn't there anyone who knows for sure?

For ranking, I would say he fills up 6 places of gobbo's, divided over 2 ranks. That would seem logical, though I have nothing to back this up.

Given that is the base's "footprint" there's no other way to do it other than to leave some random gaping holes in the unit for no particular reason.

Sure! Let him have a go!

But personally, if something is unclear in the rules, we normally like to solve it with either a bit of logic or a dice roll, and have the hordes march on!

Anyone who doens't understand this has never tried to keep several hundreds of greenskins at bay while taking time to look up some silly rules :p

But that's my opinion...

You sure about giants? I don't have the new plastic one, and my albion giants are on 50*50 bases. Can't see any reason why they would actually put the giant on a charriot base excepted allowing bretonians to double charge them on a flank to kill it even more easily ><

A Giant has no defined base size. My old one uses a 50 x 50 mm square base and my newer one uses a 50 x 75 mm base (which is 25% longer and wider than Skarsnik's base). Both base sizes have their advantages and disadvantages and I don't think it really matters which you use.

Festus is right....where is that guy? No T10 yet ummmm.

I suggest just taking the easy way out on the mentioned models "new" base sizes.....Make cardboard/cardstock templets by "grouping" bases what will total up to the new sizes. Then, draw an outline on the cardstock cardboard. OR.....buy a blank base of the same size needed.;) OR make one out of plastic and glue the old model on it's current base onto the new larger one.

I'm cheap.....I'll keep using the cardboard templets I made.
