View Full Version : Apocalyptic Manhattan (in an apartment)...

13-10-2007, 12:14

Some pics of our latest (rather big) project.
50 large buildings on the floor of three rooms in an apartment (notice the custom made wallpaper)...

Holy... :eek::D

Anyone for a game of apolocalpse :skull:

This is the most amazing model scenery I have ever seen!

13-10-2007, 13:46
now this is how warhammer should be played.. and btw.. where can I get some of that wallpaper? :D

13-10-2007, 13:54
Two questions:

1. Have you remembered to make the builduings garrisonable? ;)

2. What do you do when a whole streets gets clogged down with troops and you can't reach to the middle of it?

Other than that.... "That's not apocalypse ¤points at random gamingtable¤ THIS is apocalypse"

13-10-2007, 16:01

I'd hate having to roll difficult terrain tests to reach the upper floor of those :D

13-10-2007, 16:17
Um... Wow.

Who moved out so your city could move in?

Did you build all of those buildings from scratch?

Some of my friends are Psychiatrists, if you need their phone numbers I'm happy to give them to you? :P

So what is it you intend to play among these buildings? Apocalypse? do you have some nice templates for collapsing buildings? :)
Looks pretty damn amazing! do you have some closeups?

13-10-2007, 16:31
Anyone for a game of apolocalpse :skull:

Exactly what I was thinking. Cityfight + Apocalypse = awesome.

I've always wanted to see terrain like this- buildings that go all the way up into the skies like any huge 40k city should be.

Thing is, I never believed there would be people mad enough to do it :p

Well done, absolutely fantastic work!

This is the most amazing model scenery I have ever seen!

i have to agree, this is by far the coolist looking scenery i have seen in my life.

are you going to use it, for a game of apocalypes

13-10-2007, 21:43
Some of my friends are Psychiatrists, if you need their phone numbers I'm happy to give them to you? :P
Put them on danger money.

You have to do some more pictures, kendoka. That's just a tease. Some ground level views would be great.

13-10-2007, 21:52
FANTASTIC effort guys. I second the previous posts about the actual gaming and placing the troops in the buildings but oh my god for scenery like that!!!!!! Now where would I put my sniper..... :)

13-10-2007, 22:20

13-10-2007, 22:25
Wow, simply stunning. Like Some Guy I've always wanted to see something like this but never thought it would be done - congratulations on making something so great.

But it begs the question, just who did you manage to get an apartment off to make a board?!

13-10-2007, 22:27
Thanks for all the kind words (sometimes it is nice to be called insane).

So many questions, so little time (must keep on building).

>where can I get some of that wallpaper?

I'll ask the highly talented guy who did the photoshop original (based on photos of our first houses) if it would be OK to post a huge jpg which you then could print at a print shop.

>Did you build all of those buildings from scratch?

Yes. We made a few masters and then casted them in UltraCal (construction plaster).

>who did you manage to get an apartment off to make a board?!

Borrowed an apartment that will be totally renovated. The "board" will only be there for a few days :(

>You have to do some more pictures, kendoka. That's just a tease. Some ground level views would be great.

Stay tuned.
Will post info regarding constructions + pics of the final set up.
The city is still W.I.P. i.e. finishing touches, rubble, the streets and lighting (all houses will be lit from the inside) still remains.
Hopefully we will be finished by Tuesday (seven people working 24-7).

13-10-2007, 22:27

13-10-2007, 22:38
By the way, if you haven't seen our previous terrain project (a 3m x 3m island) it is now used in an online game:
Will be cutting it up shortly. Anybody want to buy the castle?

17-10-2007, 00:07
Holy crap. That apartment is overflowing with all kinds of amazing. You and your friends are a credit to the hobby.

17-10-2007, 00:55
Someone call in the linebreaker squadrons, it's going to be a looooong day.

Have you considered producing these city molds for sale to us less ambitious folk...

17-10-2007, 13:33
Yes a board like that should appear at games day. Its the most ambitious over the top board ive ever seen, and its absolutly awesome. If you get bored with it you can always dress up as godzilla and destroy it, not recomended but might be good for stress releif. Congrats on the board and please consider producing these buildings, or maybe slighty smaller ones.

17-10-2007, 21:26
You guys are truely talented. Outstanding buildings. MOVIE STUDIOS COULD NOT DO BETTER!:D

Please post more pics of them.;)

17-10-2007, 22:15
Wow, this looks totally incredible.

But one question keeps getting back into my head: Why?
I can't believe this is just for personal use...

17-10-2007, 22:34

It's for a music video produced by Popcore (Grammy nominated last year)
... although we get to keep the terrain :)

I just did the finishing touches.
Mats, Ulf, Nina, Tobbe, David and a few other people are the real heroes.

17-10-2007, 23:03

Love the rollercoaster...

Nice island too, by the way. That's more to my liking than cities, though the skyscrapers are very nice too of course.

19-10-2007, 19:06
. . . reading those names, I had a look at your location... couldn't you... like... you know... ship a few of those molds just across the country to Lund

20-10-2007, 22:58
>couldn't you... like... you know... ship a few of those molds just across the country to Lund

Sure. I'll trade them for a Bengal :)

21-10-2007, 10:44
Haha, didn't know you've had a look at my log :p

And you know, with parrents and all, it might be a bit difficult to ship him away (A)

Anyhow, get on with the lighting... NOW!

09-11-2007, 15:03
