View Full Version : Deathskull paints cool models.

08-11-2007, 23:34
Right, this is my last attempt at a project log. Im not going to promise to paint a full army in a certain amount of time im just going to paint cool looking models at a pace that suits me. I will promise however to keep the log going as long as there is interest in it.

Some of the stuff you can expect to see are in these photos.

To name some of the things ill be doing:

DIY Marines, Ghosts of the forge
Nurgle renegades
Colonel Shaffers last chancers kill team
Mordheim pit fighters
Orcs and goblins
Orks (when the come out)
LOTR characters
And other stuff that takes my fancy.

08-11-2007, 23:37
To start things off here are a few pics of my marines.

08-11-2007, 23:41
And Here are a few odd things I dont think ive posted yet.

09-11-2007, 14:55
Here is my WIP chapter master.

Any suggestions what I should paint next?

Here is my WIP chapter master.

Any suggestions what I should paint next?

I like your DiY marines. Nice use of Scout heads?

As for your WiP chapter master... just how WiP is it? Unless its the angle, it appears that's gone looking for a leg. Or is this a running pose?

Nice otherwise.

09-11-2007, 18:33
I really like your stuff; my favorites are the IG guys. The facial expression on the officer guy is just too likable. Did you sculpt his right arm yourself? Straken (a miniature you rarely see painted) is also very well done. Great work on the metallic parts. Somehow his face reminds me of Ron Stoppable. Must be the ears.

Two more things:
.) I'm looking forward to your giant. The hood is a great idea and seems to be well executed.
.) I think you should paint the Primaris Psyker next. Just because I want that miniature so badly (way superior to the current IG psykers) and I want to see it at least. Or some other IG stuff. Or Tycho.;)

09-11-2007, 19:36
@ jon23516. Its just the angle. Hes in a running pose (actually its more of a sprint really).

@ sigur. That officer dude is my version of lieutenant Kage from the last chancers books, the squad will be full of criminal types like him when its done. Part of the arm is sculpted but the gloves are off an old bloodbowl model. Im a bit intimidated by the giant I dont dare paint him yet. And I think I will make a start on that psyker. Cheers.

11-11-2007, 22:16
Ok heres a few more marines that will make up the command squad.

Brother Valens, standard bearer for the Ghosts of the forge.

And Brother Sedo, the chapters finest marksman (note the custom bolter).

The psyker is nearly done, pics tomorrow.

12-11-2007, 14:18
Heres the psyker, not one of my best but still I like him.

13-11-2007, 22:49
I think ill rename this log deathskull talks to himself lol.

Anyway here is an Uruk-hai berserker.

14-11-2007, 05:43
I do like your stuff. That men who is half metal looks good.

14-11-2007, 10:39
cool models, Iron hand stracken reminds me of lavfluris

14-11-2007, 11:20
Yeah, Stracken is definately my favorite mini ive done so far. Im currently painting an avatar of war goblin warboss and a very special mini called chapter master Santos of the festive legion. Also I just recived Hellboy.....errr I mean Harby, Kendra and Tiriel from hasslefree so expect to see those in the next few days.

16-11-2007, 22:36
Heres a pic of Harby assembled and you can see the hellboy stone hand option that came with him. Ill be adding him to my last chancers.

16-11-2007, 23:12
w00t paint the ninja maneater (i have one too :D)

18-11-2007, 08:03
Sweet looking marines. And that Chainsword is soooo huuuge on your chapter master. Where's it from?

18-11-2007, 08:22
Please tell me you're gonna paint that giant like a Night Goblin, that would amaze me

18-11-2007, 13:14
Here is a few pics of the giant before he was primered so you can see the bits I added to make him look like a night gobbo.

18-11-2007, 23:08
Here is an Avatars of war goblin all painted up. He did have a trophy rack but I took it off for use with something else.

18-11-2007, 23:52
Gobbo giant made me smile.

Great stuff :)

24-11-2007, 01:20
@ Konrad. Sorry missed your question there its from Inquisitor thats why its so big, if you like that wait till you see what I have in store for an ork warboss.

And an update of my shenanigans. Here is an assassin for my last chancers. I might do a van saar gang along the same lines. He has night vision goggles a bionic arm and sculpted carapace armour, if you look in the lost in the warp thread you will see where I got the idea. Anyway here he is:

Also next up on the painting front is colonel scheffer a sister repentia a couple of catachans and a servitor type bloke. I think Ill keep Chapter master Santos under wraps untill at least Decenber :). Cheers

26-11-2007, 05:59
I love the space marine marksmen, he looks so cool, like the guy in every movie who always acts aloof. Wheres the drum feed from?

Keep it up mate.

P.S. The gobbo giant made me laugh.

26-11-2007, 13:38
The drum feed is from an Ork shoota, it was really easy to do so I might do a few more of them. Could someone confirm that the link to the bounty hunter works because ive been having some trouble with it. Cheers.

26-11-2007, 21:36
Yup the link to the bounty hunter works. Great looking model. Also, your Night Goblin Warlord is fantastic.
Keep up the good work.

29-11-2007, 20:04
Not the best photo ever but here it is. The latest addition to my last chancers.

Scheffer is on his way along with a few other last chancers, then I think ill finish Dante.

30-11-2007, 03:12
i like the 5 o'clock shadow.

06-12-2007, 19:14
Another update. Here is a better picture of the bloke I posted previosly.

And here is a henchman for my last chancers HQ

06-12-2007, 20:56
Very nice! looks a bit like Daniel Craig. Or is that just me? Still, great work!

06-12-2007, 22:59
Ha, he does a bit.

08-12-2007, 00:40
Another update. A Catachan captain for my last chancers.

And a scout for my ghosts of the forge chapter.

08-12-2007, 00:44
This catachan loader looks great. The skin is mostly smoothly painted and the face is very characterful. Nothing beats them old metal Catachans.;)

Same with the henchman. There's only two things I find a bit odd: The outer rims of the parchment have this really dark colour which, in my opinion, looks a bit weird. And what's that with you and those red noses?:D

08-12-2007, 01:08
Yup I loves me some red noses (and ears if you look carefully, lol) I find it makes them look a bit more rugged and tired looking. I tried to make the parchment look worn, the contrast on the edges is less stark in real life. And yeah the old catachans crap all over the plastic versions and ill definatly be painting more of them. Cheers.

17-12-2007, 00:20
Here is an update on what ive been up to. Its a van saar gang, they will all look like the bounty hunter I posted earlier. The gang is based around the gang leader called the Iron Savior (the hooded chap on the left). He is said to rescue gangers who are left for dead in the underhives and offers them life if they will serve him. He favours bionics heavily and many of his gangers have bionics due to the condition they were in when they were rescued by the Iron Savior. He is armed with a huge iron claw and a finely crafted plasma pistol. The gang favours stealth over charging in guns blazing, they slink in through vents or on climbing ropes, execute their misson and then get out siletly, taking any usefull machinery, weapons or potential gangers as they can carry. Here they are.

The guy on the left is the iron savior made from a techpriest enginseer with a SM commander pistol a IW claw and a cadian flamers tanks, next is a ganger with a FW autogun with marine sight. next to him is a ganger with a scout shotgun and setinel driver torso and a bionic peg leg made from a chain axe. On the end is a is a ganger on a rope with a scout pistol scratch bionic arm and a scratch built backpack. The guy behind the autogun guy is a marine scout with cadian torso im going to give him a plasma gun. The guy next to him is a pitslave/servitor type guymade from a marine torso on firewarrior legs with catachan boots, a servitor claw and a flagellant arm holdin a cadian pistol.

18-12-2007, 00:45
Brilliant models mate. Nice clean painting style i really like. Love the look of the faces, and the conversion are top notch. Loving the the trooper dangling off the rope on the wall, very unique. Great work.

13-01-2008, 15:38
Im back to my painting now the christmas season is over and ive finally got my new room sorted and here is my latest work. A black orc banner. The banner itself is from some ogre bulls and the head is from an ork nob.

13-01-2008, 16:00
Some excellent stuff here. You really do paint cool looking models:D It's especially amazing to see some catahan minis, which I've always considered crap turn out completely amazing.

13-01-2008, 17:34
Thanks, the plastic catachans are crap but the metal ones are some of GWs best in my opinion.

18-01-2008, 00:49
I forgot to add before that the banner isent exactly freehand. I found a way around it by first drawing the design I wanted onto a piece of paper then cutting it out carefully and just sticking it to the banner with a mix of PVA and water. After spraying it left an almost invisible line to follow when painting the skull. This method could probably be used for other more complicated banner by adding various layers of paper.

01-05-2008, 16:06
Well time to dust off the old log I finally have regular access to a proper computer again so I decided to start up my old painting log again rather than start over. Ive been busy while I havent been posting any updates so expect to see lots of painted goodness over the next few days. To start with here is the marine I posted ages ago finally painted.

Ill give you a choice for whats next. Something Orky, something bloody or something undead. The choice is yours.

01-05-2008, 22:13
how do you paint your marines have u got a tutorial how to paint them

02-05-2008, 11:24
There really easy, you just paint them adeptus battlegrey then wash with scorched brown. Then paint in battlegrey again leaving recesses untouched and then layer up through a mix of battlegrey and codex grey untill you get a nice smooth coverage of codex grey.

02-05-2008, 17:08
Ok since no ones chose I will here is the most evil vampire ever to walk the warhammer world. I give you the halfling of dooooooooom!!!!!!!!!

Scary isent he.

02-05-2008, 19:51
Wow, really cool stuff.
The night gobbo giant, the marksman, the gi, all your conversion are great.
And your painting skills are good too. I love the black orc. Keep it up.

02-05-2008, 22:00

02-05-2008, 22:22

More tomorrow, GTA is calling.

03-05-2008, 16:30
Ok, here is skarsnik and gobbla

Mr Feral
03-05-2008, 16:37
Oh yeah those Deathskullz are good! The bold blue (and white on the Mad Dok) are nicely done.

Also mad props for Tycho and Skarsnik!

(you missed the aquila on Tycho's combi-melta though ;))

*EDIT* 888 posts - Tzeentch smiles upon his favoured servant.

03-05-2008, 20:57
Another update. This is an ancient citadel model that im using for a mordheim witch hunter warband. My first real crack at anything freehand.

Again for the witch hunters a hasslefree Tiriel as a female warrior preist.

04-05-2008, 20:47
Some more orks. This time some kommandos. Enjoy.

05-05-2008, 20:06
Heres a pic of Harby assembled and you can see the hellboy stone hand option that came with him. Ill be adding him to my last chancers.

Man... for a Hasslefree figure, Harby is HUGE... taller than a Space Marine.

Comrade Wraith
05-05-2008, 20:14
