Final rules are still being settled on, but it will be as close to a regular GW GT as possible. I don't play too often anymore but I think I could get into something like this. It's about a 3 hour drive though. Know a good place to stay?

Those are the closest. Your best bet is probably to stay at the Best Western where the tournament is being held. The hosting store is right up the street, along with numerous fast food and sit down restaurants open late. Send me a PM if youre coming and Ill help coordinate.

I have never been to this convention, nor any other game tournament/convention but i am def interested in going.

What is the expected attendance?

Are there things for non-players to do or do you pretty much have to have an army to have any fun?

They are planning for 60-80 players -- the fantasy tournament a few weeks ago had at least that many. Its hard to say for sure, but everyone from my area is really looking forward to it since there is no LA GT this year. I know there are people coming from the Bay Area, Vegas, and Reno.

The tournament itself is primarily for players, but there are things for non-players to do in the immediate area. Theres a mall less than 5 minutes away, a ton of shops and restaurants (such as Nordstrom Rack and Mimi's Cafe for wives, or Best Buy and Hooters for husbands), multiple movie theatres, Cal Expo / Paradise Island (weather permitting, they have minigolf, arcade, some rides, look up their website), bowling alley and lazer tag...plenty of stuff to do closeby for non-players.
