View Full Version : New to Epic, I need a solid Space Marie list.

I've chosen space marines to be my army. Would anyone be kind enough to write me a 1000 point starter list? You help will be appreciated.

1000 points only allows for a very short game, I would recommend at least 1500 points. If you simply wanna test the rules, ignore point values and grab what you would like to try out.

Anyway, here is a try:
Tactical Marines incl. Rhinos 300
Land Speeders 200
Whirlwinds 300
Bikes 200

Concentrate on one enemy unit, if you spread your attention too much you will lose. Soften up enemies (=lay blast markers) and then engage in an assault while the Speeders support. Be sure to always place your Marines in contact with their Rhinos as the can claim cover for that (-1 to hit).

If you take more points be sure to include a Supreme Commander. Terminators are very good, too.

Enjoy the game :)

Thank you very much!

I have made a 2k demo armies for Marines and Orks. So this is a bit bigger than you wanted. (the costs are a bit tuned due to rules used here, but would be same total as in rule book as predators is 25 points cheaper and terminators 25 points more expensive).

250 Devastator Detachment
025 + 2 Razorbacks (las cannon)
200 Land Speeder Detachment
275 Predators Detachment (4 Annihilators)
150 Scout Detachment
300 Tactical Detachment
100 + Supreme Commander
025 + Razorback (heavy bolter)
350 Terminator Detachment
300 Whirlwind Detachment

I find 1500pts to 2000pts to be good 'intro' game sizes. 1000pts will be a little on the small side I reckon.

What chapter are you going to be playing?

For slightly larger games, SM players seem to be very keen on Thunderhawks (stuffed with assault marines and devastators) and Warhound Titans (heavy firepower which can keep up with the marines).

Play a few games first before you consider these as the rules are more advanced.

What chapter are you going to be playing?

Not sure yet. Probably Imperial Fists, Raven Guard or Luna Wolves.

Hmm Pre-Heresy epic would be very cool! Would be a cool modelling challenge!

Yes it would. I could also make the warlord titan Deis Irae. That'd be pretty cool.

21-01-2008, 00:04
Hmm, how will you make that Titan? Will you base it on the old Warlord model (the round one or the more squared one?) instead of the "new" (3rd edition) model.

I'm planning on using the new one. The old one is both hard to get and too castle-like.

I'm pretty sure Dies Irae is actually an Imperator Titan, not a Warlord.

Is there a model available for the imperator titan?

Not generally... ebay occasionally. It's a bit of a collector's piece these days.

About 30-40 for a constructed, unpainted one. One on the sprue will be much more expensive (like double). A painted one ~20 or so.

Or you can go mad like Warmaster Nice:

Warmaster Nice's skills are just scary...that and the fact that he has way more money to spend on GW stuff than I'll ever have scares me even more! :p

24-01-2008, 00:06
Man that is nice!

Are there rules for the Imperator titan in Epic:Armaggeddon?

25-01-2008, 01:33
Yes and no, nothing official as such but there are suggestions of what they should be floating around out there.

There are stats for it in the printed rulebook. They had a little snafu and used the warhound's stats (doh!) but the errata on the SG website corrects these. The rulebook also correctly lists the weapons, which are scary. There is no points cost, its for senarios only.

"house" stats generally let the Imperator split fire, as that much firepower against a single formation is overkill...
