News concerning Epic from the 40k News Forum: Jervis Jonson thinks
Epic will receive some more support, as he feels it's currently pretty under-represented.

While I would wish for that to happen. I'll believe when I see it :).

Sounds epic. :)
Hope it's true, Epic seems really awesome yet it's still the proverbial red-headed stepchild.

I hope they push it more forward again, would be especially cool to see how it "reacts" to Apocalypse. I mean with Apocalypse you can play big 40k games which are small epic games. Imagine something like playing really big epic games. (even bigger than what we've seen so far)

When GW makes an official announcement I'll get excited. A second hand comment from Jervis is no reason to be excited.

I've just read that comment from Jervis, and while such support would be very welcome, I shall not hold my breath waiting. :)

I agree with the other remarks about believing it when I see it.

the easiest thing they can do is reprint an updated rule book, add some terrain/dice/counters and box it up. then most importantly sell it in their stores ala Mighty Empires.

repeat with ALL the specialist games.

Sounds like a pipe dream from Jervis in truth. The recent decision regarding Black industries does not bode well for GW expanding ranges.

Gav Thorpe passed on a clarification of Jervis' comment:

The "support" is "doing something with the rules review committee".

So quash those dreams of plastic nids / boxed Epic / Capitol Imperialis etc to avoid further disappointment. :(

For better information on what JJ was most likely talking about go to the link below. Neal Hunt is one of the ERC members, so take that into account when reading the stuff.

I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to be more or less depressed!

Thanks for the link though!

Thanks for the link Hena, not that it makes for very positive reading.

I know I'm something of a novice when it comes to the current format of Epic, but it's a game I've always cared about, so it doesn't cheer me up much when I see stalemate among the ERC and Jervis.

The whole situation reminds me of the Vultures in the 'Jungle Book' who can never decide what they are going to do, so they end up doing nothing, because they spend all their time trying to make a decision about what they should do....

So stuff GW then! If they can't be bothered to clarify their rules because they believe they are fine just as they are, then download amended suggested handbook from http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=69;t=11218 and lets play that.

Who the heck needs GW? We've got rules good to go and can get oodles of 6mm models from GZG...

Stuff 'em if they are so up themselves!

I already have, and it's a very good handbook.

Muppet question of the day: Who are GZG?

I love that updated book, perhaps making all specialist games open source and let forge world make some neato figs could be the way to go.

In addition to Ground Zero Games, don't forget about Dark Realm Miniatures and Exodus Wars, which both have expanding lines of 6mm minis.

Hehe, just great. GW really likes to mess with the hopes of the SG community.:):(

Could this support would be removing over priced Ruins from UK store at least :).

I spoke to Jervis today (mostly about how badly the 40k rules were presented), but raised the issue of Epic. Jervis' answer was along the lines of sorting our the rules into a 'final edition' of epic armageddon. What that means i don't know.

Irisado

It probably would mean putting all the playtested army lists into one book, or one document available for download, but even if it does happen, I can't see it happening very soon.

I don't really keep track of the ERC development in detail, but i imagine it would be something like that.

It will probably just update the core PDF on the site with the single decision that the ERC have made since the game was first released - and update the skimmer rule.

Of course, being SG, they will probably include a lot more ambiguities and not even get that right!
