View Full Version : "Control..you are not gonna believe whats coming down this canyon!!" Reaver Log

17-02-2008, 15:50
I've recently been building a Reaver titan based of Lackofs/Eaters plans. I dont wanna hijack their thread any further so I figured the big bugga deserved a thread of his own.

he's got legs, he knows how to use them..

torso structure coming together

launcher and shoulder added...now THATS firepower

17-02-2008, 15:56
..more pics

next to Warhound showing size difference.

shoulders and carapace finished, powerfist and inferno cannon added

Russ and Cadian for scale.

and thats were I am, have just ordered some mesh for the eyes and vents off ebay, now a case of adding gubbins to 40k it up a bit before I get down to the business of painting.

What do you think so far, am really pleased. made almost entirely from beer drates and a jelly tots tube.

17-02-2008, 16:24
It`s a beauty!
Haven`t been following Lackofs/Eaters log, is it based off a template plan? It`s fantastic, what are you gubbinz/40King it up plans? COD parts?

17-02-2008, 16:58
yeah Lackof drew up the plans and Eater made it, I dont think he ever finished it though.

Dont have any COD parts, might be worth getting some. I also wanna hang a decent banner between its legs.

Dont have any COD parts, might be worth getting some. I also wanna hang a decent banner between its legs.

I know what you mean about the banner, but I really like the negative space between the legs, it balances out the squat/hunch backed look of the reaver titan. How about kill pennents or banner from the main (right) gun or maybe some thin long banners hanging from both sides of the head (kinda like a handlebar mostache)? Never seen that done, that whole Ming the Merciless look!
The between the legs banner just screams loincloth to me, that being said nothing wrong with that.

COD parts would be sweet, the manufactionuionnnn, whatever it`s called, set has Ad-mech skulls, Ad-mech= titan.....nuff said.

Can`t wait to see your next modelling update.:chrome:

Hi there,

This is looking really great.. I've been following the progress of 'lackof's' Titan log.. and your progress too.. Very impressive indeed..

I have downloaded the templates myself.. how complex did you find them to put together?

Keep up the great work,

Best wishes,

Looking good, but its...well its too small, Reaver Titans are something between a Warhound and a Warlord titan, not the same size as a Warhound.

19-02-2008, 20:08
its more difficult than the warhound but still fairly straightforward.

Its larger than the old Armorcast one from what I can tell. Its 13" tall to the top of the carapace and 17" to the top of the launcher. Its a few inches taller than the 'hound I built and MUCH bulkier.

20-02-2008, 09:48
very nice

was wondering through has anyone tried making it out of plasticard???

i built my warhound out of plasticard and have just bought an A0 size sheet of the stuff for the reaver - was wondering whether anyone had some advice cos some of the templates look like they would be impossible to do with plasticard

anyway laters and ta

Hi Wollfe..

You can build the basic skeleton in cardboard which will allow you to make the complex shapes, then skin the model with plastic card to give it extra strength..

Just an idea..

Best wishes,

That is the most dangerous cereal box I have ever seen!:) Nice job.

20-02-2008, 15:07
Me & a Friend are attempting to build one out of plasticard. About 60% done now. Will Post Pictures and the likes on my own log later on.

20-02-2008, 17:11
Hey lackof, looking forward to seeing that.

I find plasticard really difficult to use, I might see about "skinning" it as you say, I have about a dozen .5mm a4 sheets doing nothing.

Gonna look into a COD sprie for the ad mech symbol, might even have a go at casting up more symbols (which GW seem to be ok with).

what do you think about a large Aquila added to one of the leg guards? Should be easy to cut out and attach and would give a nice raised design to paint.

Now I'm iching to do a Warlord(!). I have the Crusader plans, do I do that or wait for Lackofs inevitable Warlord templates? (admit it dude, you're thinking about it)

I think I have a decent template for a large Aquilla, it's about Chimera sized. Let me know if you need it.

Oh yeah, I love your work. I wish I could build up the time/guts to tackle one of these things.

21-02-2008, 20:00
Who says i havent already started Sleazy?

21-02-2008, 20:06
ha ha, I'm sure you have matey, make sure I get a copy of those templates (we should all get together sometime and play Adeptus Titanicus as is SHOULD be played).

@Easy E: I have an Aguila template from a Sisters rhino guide, should work great, thanks tho. You really should build one of these, I've seen your other work, you would do well.

Nice job on the Reaver.

I'm almost done with mine(and so I must now eat 7 bags of cereal without their boxes), and it was a lot easier than I expected. Of course, that could just be that I learned a few tricks when I made my Warhound.

Without a PVC pipe to add at the waist, I thought it was a bit squat looking. So between the Torso/Waist Transition and the Main Waist Assembly I added another Torso/Waist Transition piece, but cut the flaps in such a way that it became an octagon with no sloping sides. This added a bit more height and solidity to the Reaver.

Since the templates don't provide any trim on the armour pieces I made extra copies of the leg guards, the shoulder guards, and the carapace pieces. Then just cut out the insides of them, leaving some very nice trim.

It's all turning out quite well, but since I don't have a digital camera you'll all just have to trust me on that one ;)

heres an update... I havent abandoned this baby.

Finished cuilding it, have started on the serious business of painting, this might take a while.

Apologies for the naff pics, I used my phone, will get better ones soon.

no idea why this one insists on showing rotated

11-03-2008, 21:48
It's looking sexy I can't wait to see the finished thing. You maybe need to disguise the CD's on the base a bit more tho.

03-04-2008, 21:51
wots with the stalling? I no ure still alive cos u posted on another thread today lol.

09-04-2008, 18:04
Ha ha, sorry Yayale, you know what its like jumping between projects.

Anyway time for a mini update...

I have seperated it at the waist. this enables me to transport it easier and makes painting a bit easier.

The plan once all painted is to fix a rod in the middle so I can easily disassemble it and also allow it to rotate at the waist.

anywho... heres a pic of the top half so far...

09-04-2008, 20:09
Can we get shots of the gun/hand?

09-04-2008, 21:03
bit small and dark but...

10-04-2008, 10:50
looking good. Will be awsome when it's completed :D

18-04-2008, 15:45
quick update, I have added rivets which I'll now need to paint as they stand out too much at moment.

Am working on the base. I have ordered some magnets to join it together.

18-04-2008, 16:13
look good
Now im definitely gonna have to build one of my own :D

15-05-2008, 02:26
Oh a My a GOSH! Freaking amazing. Kudos, and may this model last a very, very long time. I wish i could do that.

15-05-2008, 02:43

I never seen a scracth built reaver. That thing is sweet.

15-05-2008, 22:06
thanks, I really should get this thing finished, I think I have all the bits to complete it. Have been busy working on a drop pod marine army and getting al beardy (pun intended) with chaos dwarfs.

a proper update this weekend, I promise! I have few days off work next week so lets see if I can get this baby done then I need to try and arrange an opponent. My local GW has a sweet looking gargant, how about that for first victim?

15-05-2008, 22:46
sounds like a nice first kill lol
yeh my stompa's bin sat on the sidelies for a while due to coursework deadlines and now exams, oh and ten tors training, hopefully ive have some time on sunday to do some more to it.

05-07-2008, 16:51
where can I get some of these plans?

06-07-2008, 17:05
oh damn I've forgotten the name of the site now It's on yahoo forum things and it does loads of differnet templates that people upload.

it says somewhere in this thread

07-07-2008, 18:51
pm me and I'll forward you them.

I'll have to post a pic of the finished Reaver, I have to remove the neck tubes as they are metal and were unbalancing him.

07-07-2008, 19:16
oh what the right angle ones which look like a bit of copper water pipe?
Also yes you should post a picture of the finished project it's about time lol.

high marshall hall
30-07-2008, 07:06
plz can you pm me the plans since i got the materterial but i need the plans

30-07-2008, 21:05
well I cant PM them but if you pm me your email address I'll send you them.

Heres a pic of the (pretty much) finished titan

heres what i'm currently working on

and I'm trying to paint a unit of these (hopefully to become an army)

31-07-2008, 11:21
interesting IG colour scheme also the thunderhawk transport is coming along nicly!

29-08-2008, 08:19
a little progress, I have been mainly working on that thunderhawk. I've also been distracted by some old skool chaos stuff, I'll post photos asap.

heres the thawk, I'm not sure about the lascannon wings so they may change. I affixed it to a metal pole screwed into a nut on the bottom of the model but I cant seem to keep the nut glued on (even with araldite!) so I'm gonna try and build landing gear.

29-08-2008, 21:28
hmm bugger, try putting a solid piece of wood inside the thawk where the nut goes and counter sink the nut and glue it in.

30-08-2008, 08:46
yeah I wish I'd thought of that. the basic body of the thawk is balsa wood which I pinned and pva'd. It would destroy it to try and prise it open now.

oh well, I'll know for the next one (well apoc has a card for 3!)

30-08-2008, 11:11
heh heh heh!
Now tht would be nice
I want to get me some thawks I may have to have a go at scratch building them too. I need to finish my current projects tho.
Have you got templates for this? If not could you do a rough sketch with measurements and pm it to me? or e-mail if you have to.

30-08-2008, 14:45
templates are available here....

31-08-2008, 12:37
why thank you
