I was wondering how many terrain pieces on average you use on a 6*4 table (and how big these are on average).

We usually play with minimum 6 pieces, sometimes even 9, which tend to make the tabels crowded. Oh yes and we do not use the offical terrain placement rule as in the book, anybody got any good experience with that?

just split your terrain pieces in half, and take turns deploying them. try not to overflow trhe deployment zone with hills though, cause a gunline can benefit a lot from that.

the official rules says (used tyo anyway:p) that 1/4 of the table should be covered in terrain. I go with 2/5 (or about that). gives a good balance, and also provides room for an army to manouvre

thanks, forgot about the 1/4 rule. NEw rules can limit terrain severly, which is not fun either.. I think I will stick to the 1/4 to 2/5 rule..
