View Full Version : Fraggzy's random painting log

31-03-2008, 07:28
just a painting log I wanted, so my friends and others could see my work and progress

More will come as it is finished

EDIT: For the somewhat exiting new project, jump straight to page 7 :)

31-03-2008, 07:33
just a picture of my suitcase. Wanted it to stand out so i painted it.

31-03-2008, 07:34
neat:p. any minis?

31-03-2008, 07:41
ofcourse i got minis, ill (hopefully) be posting some of them later today.
My etheral and my bretonnia damsel at least.

31-03-2008, 20:23
unfortunately i dident get good pic's of the damsel and etheral, so they wil be published later, but here you go! one of my favorite models.

The ork is "Stompa Da Toothless" (with teeth)
The marine and guard's are unknown :)

31-03-2008, 20:36
*hur hur* Being a SM player, I pity the decapitated marine (dont care about teh guardsmen;))!

When taking your pictures it seems the flash from the camera goes on very heavy. this tends to make details, highlighting and shadows disapear into the colours, which is a great pity. try some more light hen taking them, like a reading lamp or something.

That being said, Id stay away from that nob:p. for the base, flock often looks a bit dull after a while, so you might like to try some startic grass?

nice anyway!

01-04-2008, 05:52
Ok, thanks for the reply.

I will add more pictures later today.

01-04-2008, 18:01
here are some more pictures, these are of my pessants.

my pessant cripples

more pessant cripples

this guy has a.... eh.... chain with a spiked-ball?

and this guy has a bit of a story behind his broken arms

i will post his story later

02-04-2008, 06:00
Here comes the story of Sigmar, the pessant with broken arms...

The man on the picture above was once born on a farm in the empire, his mother and father called him sigmar, after the god-like warrior Sigmar. There he was raised to belive he was sigmar.

When he came to town and called himself sigmar it made a lot of fuzz, Sigmar reborn as a pessant? The witch hunters heard of this so-called Sigmar and visited him. When they got there they thought he was just an imposter, so they broke his arm and intended to kill him for mocking Sigmar.

After they had broken his arm he managed to escape and fled to bretonnia, the witch hunters hot on his trail. When he came there the wich hunter were only hours behind him, so he hid in one of the local pessant regiments. When the witch hunters came there they dident detect him and so moved on, but Sigmars precence was marked by someone, the regiments sergant.

When Sigmar tryed to leave the army the sergant halted him and said that it wasent his problem that Sigmar was there, but now that he was, he would serve the army. Sigmar tryed to flee but the sergant caught him and broke his other arm as a lession. He has been there ever since.

Sigmar is the regiment leader ofcourse (he has 2 attacks even with 2 broken arms!! think of him with both arms intact and a warhammer!!)

I will post more pic's later, enjoy the story:D

02-04-2008, 07:13
I notived that on your pictures it seems your camera focus is behind the minis in some sort of way. you should check your focus before taking the picture (dont worry, I have the same problem;))

sigmar:p. jolly good mate!

02-04-2008, 07:35
I know about that problem, have been trying to solve it myself, but the camera has autofocus so i cant realy do much about it, but ill try to improve the pictures:D
thx for the reply

02-04-2008, 08:57
here comes more pictures of pessants, theses guys are to good armed and armoured, not the "leftovers"

A shield-block

same shield-block

all 3 regiments together

the shield-block became a little small so i had to make it on the gray base so that represents the block's play-size, because there are 5 in fron rank and 4 ranks

I think these pictures are a little sharper
More pictures will come:D

02-04-2008, 11:45
I dont have words for how much better it would look if it were sull size. and it looks too short;) (I mean, are they gnomes under there?)

You should get a bunch of feet. then you glue the shield box thingy to a piece of cardboard or something, so that we cant see it. then you glue feet to the cardboard:p

03-04-2008, 05:55
I have tough abot it and it might happen in time, but i dont think ill do it right now
Here are some more pictures!

this is my etheral

and this too

my damsel

still the damsel

The autofocus camera strikes again!
I am sorry about the bad quality of the pictures, i will take new and post them.
more pictures will come

03-04-2008, 12:16
huh. hooked on blue and red or what;)

I got advice on trying to paint my models with some plack showing in all cracks. Havent tried it yet, but looking around, it seems to be what all the pro's do. may be something for us:p

Liked the etheral a lot, though again the highlighting and details disapeared into the model with your auto focus. I think there should be some form of "close-up mode" for your camera. I know I got that on mine!

In the first pic of the damsel it looks like the sun just got up:p. Still very blury, makes it hard to judge your work, though it seems to be above your normal standards. If you painted all your peasants the way you paint heroes, wouldnt the heroes look even better?

Nephilim of Sin
03-04-2008, 20:12
Concerning the autofocus on your camera, I agree with FurryMiguell. Try to find the 'macro' function, which looks like a flower. That will help loads without going into too much detail.

Your shield wall is interesting, but are you considering playing with it, or is it for display? I was just wondering, because if you played with it, how would you remove casualties? One thing that would help it a lot with the spacing (and fit with fluff) is to use bases on either side, and mount the Brettonian archer spikes on them. It would help to make them look really dug in and defensive.

I really like the wounded as well. Very nice and full of character.

04-04-2008, 08:53
thx for the tip about the auto-focus i shal remember to try it out!
about the shield-wall im gona play with it and i think ill just put dices next to it showing how many ppl there are left.

gona take some new pictures using the new method and post them later

04-04-2008, 11:02
do as nephilim of Sin said. use the spiky poles from the archer set around the edges. it'll make the unit look even better protected, and it'll look more whole. and might make it look taller;)

06-04-2008, 09:30
i think i will try to add the spikes and see how it looks, if it looks good ill post it (maby ill post it annyway)

i will post more pictures soon FEATURING THE ALL NEW IMPROVED MACRO FUNCTION! (thx for the tip nephilim of Sin :D)

07-04-2008, 08:29
time for more uptades! (the macro function is just great!!)

here is an upgraded picture of my damsel

and my etheral

07-04-2008, 08:31
and now some new pictures, not just upgades

my modified firewarrior feautering the all new battlesuit^^

my firewarrior and shaper

i will post pictures of the shaper later (hopefully today)

07-04-2008, 10:18
ah, thats much better. told you there was some for of close-up mode;)

The XV 95 Stealth Suit?:p

08-04-2008, 07:37
time for a new update.
here comes pictures of my shaper

08-04-2008, 07:41
the next update is of my ork big boss, this is the last of my individual figures for now, after that i will just post pictures of my armies and regiments

08-04-2008, 10:12
Who ever said kroots could need more wargear. this guy is stacked:p

Im not really the one to talk, but you'll want to try highlighting and shading the minis just a little bit in the start. If you just do it on some minis, you get the feel of what you like and how you want to paint your miniatures. GW has some good painting-guides in the armies respective armybooks, at their website and in the main rulebook. Also you could ask around this forum to get great tips on painting! Helped me a lot, improoved greatly by only painting a few goblins

08-04-2008, 11:00
ok, i painted these figures some time ago, but i will certainly use anny painting tip i get ^^

Nephilim of Sin
09-04-2008, 01:58
Why is the poor Shaper being gunned down by the Tau? :D

As for tips, well, I inks/washes are a godsend. Your metals are looking very nice, and some black ink (chestnut ink for golds, bronzes, etc...) will add a load of depth to them.

As well, I really like the consistent color scheme you are choosing to use, but what types of paint are you using? The reason I ask is because they look very 'heavy' and thick, which can detract from the natural details and highlights. As everyone will say, thinner and more coats are much better than thicker single coats.

As for highlighting, don't go for edge highlighting. Just a few levels of mixed paint (which can be done quickly) layered on can really make the difference on the model.

The close-ups are looking nice. Can't wait to see some more!

09-04-2008, 06:35
the shaper has gone rouge and must be eh.... removed from duty:D

as for the colour scheme i use (sometimes) enchanted blue and (mostly) Ultramarine Blue and after that i just use blue inc to make the skin look darker and more like skin.
i will use all the tips i get so thx nephilim of sin (and FurryMiguell)

here comes more pictures of my orc big boss.... WAAAAGH! (i painted him some time ago, so he is not so good, just cool)

more pictures will come

09-04-2008, 12:09
hur hur:p. loads of spiky bitz and shiny stuff;)

Do as Nephilim of Sin says. hes got it all figgerd out!

09-04-2008, 14:15
by the way, i found more "single models" so here comes more pictures again

this is my tau "spotter" just that he goes as a normal firewarrior

09-04-2008, 21:20
You should try some basing on a higher level. I just started basing my models in the Gobbo Wolfrider army, and I get a lot of great tips on how to do it! you should check it out, or at least keep it in the back of your head.

We took some pictures of Thorgrim Brokenfoot's Dwarfs lined up against your HE the other day. posting those? Really like to see what the pictures looked like;)

10-04-2008, 06:16
ok, i havent started basing my armies yet, but when it is redy i will try it. as for my HE army vs thorgrim brokenfoots the pictures of the dwarves was blurred and bad so i deleted some of them, but we can see what i can find.

here are more pictures of my tau army

10-04-2008, 06:18
here are more pictures from my tau army, this is my converted phirana:

and my devilfish "spotter"

and my sniper drones

10-04-2008, 07:06
Aaarrggghh....! My eyes...!!

Jet Bikes!
Orcs with a "K"!!!

My eyes can't take Sci-Fi pics...

(Just a reminder that we are in Fantasy Project Logs. kkthx)

10-04-2008, 07:20
sorry, i just felt that i had to post some of my 40k pictuers too because it's a random painting log. Luckily these are all the 40k pictures that are, were, and will be:) ARGH! did i realy manage to write orc with a k???
More Warhammer pictures will come:D

10-04-2008, 10:15
my dear friend... In 40k Orc actually IS with a K! Ork's! That is why we like fantasy more:p. (and because the game is much more enjoyable, the miniatures are cooler and so on)

Agree with Saulot, my eyes are melting! AAAAAGH!

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
10-04-2008, 13:39
yeah, why not :D
Try to brush the dust of some of those figures, how often do you use them??

10-04-2008, 13:41
hur hur. dusty:p

Did you find some HE n drawf pictures that worked?

11-04-2008, 07:46
yes, i will post them now
here is the pictures of my HE army, i think you can see dwarfs on some of the pictures, but most of the dwarf-pictures were blurry so i deleted them

11-04-2008, 07:48
That is unfortunately all my HE pictures for now so ill just post 1 more orc big boss

he was made and painted some time ago so it aint as good painting as some of my new models

11-04-2008, 09:03
Im always impressed by how fantastic an army looks ranked up like that, no matter to what standard it is painted. I think your army looks very unified and the pictures turned out great! Got to do another bunch when thorgrims dwarfs are finished!

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
11-04-2008, 12:55
I agree! My dwarfs looks like they are going to get a masacre agains then :(
Then fraggz have around 2000 more points then me there...
Well, as this is his thread and not mine, ill say, It looks great, keep up the good work

12-04-2008, 08:37
time for a new update! here comes pictures of my orcs & goblins and my bretonias

my orc standard bearer

my goblin standard bearer

my orc army

more of the orcs

unfortunately i havent got time to paint them all

12-04-2008, 08:39
here are my brets facing the orc horde

12-04-2008, 10:09
Ill have to say these armies dosnt look as imperessive as the HE force did. firstly because they arent finished, and second that the colours arnt as unified as they were in the HE force. You got a lot of orcs to paint though:p good luck!

12-04-2008, 15:18
you are so right, they are not finished. and some of the painting shal be re painted so the colours are unified:)

12-04-2008, 15:30
Wow! Lots and lots of armies! Niiice!

I like your army colors for the High Elves! Good job! Hope we can get more tighter shots? Per unit perhaps?

I'm also looking forward to those Orc 'n Gobbos plus Brets since I collect those as well!

Keep on posting updates Fraggzy!

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
12-04-2008, 17:59
Looks great after my opinion.
You need more close in shots cause then we can also see the paintwork :D

Good job, hoping for a new update soon

12-04-2008, 18:14
ok, i will line them up (again:D) and take some close up shots

thx for the replys:)

14-04-2008, 08:36
more updates will come today or tomorrow of my HE regiments so you can see them better:)

14-04-2008, 09:55
Yeah, you do that:p Its something about a HE force that looks very impressive ranked up like that compared to other armies. I think the same goes for empire, dwarfs and DE, but the others look a lot less unified.

15-04-2008, 06:44
okay time for some new uptades (new.. lol, painted them some time ago, gona re paint and re post em later this week)

these are my phoenix guards

don't judge em to hard cause im gona re paint them and base them again

15-04-2008, 06:48
:wtf:omg, i should never have posted them, they make me embarrased with being so badly painted:cries:
ill re paint them today and post them again tomorrow, cause they realy stink!:p ill leave the capes though cause they are up to standards (i think)

they will be updated tomorrow:D

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
15-04-2008, 10:03
well, mostly it looks like they might need inc, better basing and some features to their faces and to paint over them to cover the spots that have been erhhhmmm... removed? for example on their halberds.

Give em a polish of their armour and send them back out into da waaaagh! :D

15-04-2008, 10:26
ok, im working on them now and they are realy improoving fast:D

15-04-2008, 11:12
Thorgrim: Ink... The bottles of teh substance your talking about says "ink..) no "c";)

Fraggzy: Yeah, they could need some re-painting:p. I could borrow you my flesh wash if youd like, and you couldjust ad that to their face and then highlight with elf flesh again!

16-04-2008, 06:33
okay, i only managed to paint 4 of the phoenix guards, so i wont post them til the whole regiment is finished so here comes some pictures of my HE mage instead.

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
16-04-2008, 06:57
nice one. i like that the erhm.. thingie on the groud is painted golden. makes it look more magical :D

16-04-2008, 10:07
This dude is an expert in the lore of metal, right;)?

It seems to me that the paint is kind of bubbl-y. the rather sad effect you get from trying to sparypaint a mini with a almost-empty spraycan. It might just be dust though, it wouldnt be the frist time your army is covered with it:p

16-04-2008, 11:42
it might be a bit of both, but the dust is not because of lack of use!! it is just very dusty in our house:)

17-04-2008, 05:51
okay, i only did 2 phoenix guards yesterday so i think ill do the 4 last today and post them tomorrow morning:)

here are a picture of one more of my mages

17-04-2008, 05:53
notice i havent based all my figures? Dont worry it will happen:) in time.....

here is one more picture of the mage from the back

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
17-04-2008, 06:29
Looks good, but some places, the paint goes over each other, like on his cape. Finely painted, but a bit emotionless in the face? :D

17-04-2008, 07:03
i have tought a lot about that, im gona try and flesh wash him and then highlight some spots, other than that i noticed the bit on the cape too, dont worry it wil be fixed:D

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
17-04-2008, 13:59
okay. then it will be better ;)

Try to base him aswell, using monsterzonk's basing guide.

18-04-2008, 10:25
today i will take close up shot in front of the earlier posted mage so you guys can see his face now, i think it has improoved. I will also post a close-up shot of how the re painted phoenix guards will look like.

and as for the basing i will start basing all my characters and the phoenix guards after i have finished painting the phoenix guards, currenly 4 left to paint, only got 2 painted yesterday.

18-04-2008, 18:44
okay, here is the new update with my mage from the front and one phoenix guard, tomorrow i will post the whole regiment.

the mage: (personaly i think this was a good shot)

and the phoenix guards, or atleast 4 of them:

more updates will come tomorrow consisting of all the 10 phoenix guards

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
18-04-2008, 18:59
MUCH better then the last pictures. The last pictures of theese vs theese... well, lets not think bout it, shal we? Too much humiliation for poor old fraggz here :D

Do you got some convertions in your army aswell that you can show?

Bloody cheers, mate

18-04-2008, 20:16
well, most of my convertions are on page 1, bret criplings, the tau (40k) and the ork (40k), and my shaper (40k), big bosses and that is probably it:D

18-04-2008, 20:16
Better! Though Id use more shades in the faces. Im known to use a lot of shades though;)

That mage truly looks like an HE:p

18-04-2008, 20:20
about the shading are you reffering to the phoenix guards or the mage? cause i like the mage as he is:) and i have tried to shade the phoenix guards (to little effect):D

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
19-04-2008, 06:35
i have tried to shade the phoenix guards (to little effect):D

I noticed, But... i cant complain... aint an expert on shading myself either:cries:

19-04-2008, 09:52
I was refering to the phoenix guard, as I cant see the mage has got any shading at all:p

19-04-2008, 12:35
okay, here comes all the 10 phoenix guards:

sorry for not having a picture from the back.
more updates will come:D

21-04-2008, 06:31
okay, im ATM working on improoving my swordmasters, did 5 of them yesterday and ill post them as soon as they are finished, in the meantime here are pictures of my archer regiment:

Furry Miguell has lately said that it is stupid that HE archers and their iron disipline and knives can strike befoure an DE assasin... But, hey! the unit champion got 2 swords!

more updates will come
and by the way, im repainting my whole HE army, so the archers will be re-painted

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
21-04-2008, 09:35
hehe, it is a bit wierd, indeed, that HE achers hit a DE asassin before h can attack :)
i think the models looks good, but maby a small more amount of shade on the phoenix guards? Otherwise they look good.

Keep up the good work

21-04-2008, 13:16
I sugest you pick some of the archers appart (heads and arms at least) and re-build them too, cause I see some with the right arm on the left side, some aiming the bows into the regiment (trying to kill their own?) and some with heads on backwards! (almost...)

Looks very, uh, unfitting for a HE force:p (though might work for a undead one...

21-04-2008, 14:55
yeah, that might be a good idea to do when i re-paint them:D

21-04-2008, 18:18
Hi Fraggzy I see that you improved your painting. I suggest using some brown washes on the armour and some shading on the faces because they look a little bit "flat" ATM. /I know it won't be easy I still have problems with metallics and faces:( but with some practice we shall succeed:D/Keep up the good work.

21-04-2008, 20:58
for chainmail, a watered down coat of metal (chainmail?;)) first, then a light coat of black ink, and then drybrush with the same metal again. For elf skin, first a coat of elf flesh (not too thick!), coat of brown ink or flesh wash, and highlight with elf flesh again. Might do dark flesh, then highlight with dwarf flesh, then highligth again with elf flesh (whatever suits you best:p)

Agree'd though, you are improving!

22-04-2008, 06:34
okay, here comes pictures of my swordmasters as they used to be:

and here are what they will look like when they are finished except that i havent based them yet... nor shaded them yet..

I think i will start basing the phoenix guards tomorrow, i will post them when they are finished

22-04-2008, 07:01
You should shade the chainmail, at least on these guys, as it coverws such a big part of the miniatures. I think my method might work, though I have no experience whatsoever in painting chainmail, so you might want to get some other help;)

I love the swordmaster models! A very easy, simple and boring sculpt, but are so extremly awesome in their pure awesomeness!

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
22-04-2008, 07:14
Looks much better then the "originals". Listen to furry. try shading the chainmail a small bit, i guess it wil look much better.

good luck on

22-04-2008, 07:30
okay, ill try it and post the result:D

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
22-04-2008, 10:15
how do you shade it good? i cant say that i am sure, but i think i have an idea. Havent shaded too much in my time of WH...

22-04-2008, 10:39
you shade by using a dark undertone in the same colour family are the basic colour you want to shade (not always), or oyu use a darker inking wash of the same colour family.

Example is a skin area, where you first paint dark flesh over a black undercoat, then a heavy highlight (meaning you paint more areas with the colour, not more paint!) of dwarf flesh, then a lighter highlight o elf flesh, then you might finish off with a mix of skullwhite and elf flesh on the very edges.

Wood ares could b a base of dark brown (dark flesh?), highlight with bestal brown, then a final highlight of vormit brown to acheve a whole and deep effect.

For metals, you could just leave cracks unpainted by the metal brush, or you could ink it and then do a light drybrush of a lighter metal type to acheve a good result.

Basicaly, you should do every colour on your minis in a two-three step prosess, 1. base paint (over a black/white spraycoat) 2. shade with a darker ink wash or highlight with a slightly lighter colour in the same family (you might have to mix a darker colour with a lighter colour to acheve the wanted effect) 3. a final highlight of the brightest colours you want.

For some colours this is not needed, and some times looks unfitting.

Thats how I do it anyway!

23-04-2008, 05:11
okay, here are more updates. The pictures are of my bolt thrower:

more updates will come and by the way, thx for the shading tip FurryMiguell
these are models i painted some time ago. I havent painted anny new ones lately.

23-04-2008, 06:18
SO get to it then!:p

Thorgrim Brokenfoot
23-04-2008, 12:29
repaint their faces. it looks totaly fuc.. erhm... wierd... ;)
Try to use some shading.

Other then that, it looks good.

23-04-2008, 16:48
yeah, as thorgrim said, the faces look "funked" up:p Fix it!

23-04-2008, 18:19
okay, ill fix it but only after i have painted all thew swordmasters, got 5 painted now, probably gona post them tomorrow:D

23-04-2008, 18:35
Hey, Fraggzy!
It's about time I posted on your log, methinks! I like your work so far, I must say. There are still some techniques that could be improved, but hey, that's just normal.
So, I thought I'd try and give you some tips to help you improve. I don't mean this as an offense. I like what you have achieved so far!
There are, however, some simple techniques that might improve your painting. First of all, I noticed some mould lines on your models. Your minis will look a lot better, if you take your time to remove those. It makes them look less artificial, if you know what I mean.
Then you should get a better brush. Don't use the GW ones, they're total crap! Way too big for fine painting.
Some inking would also really help to add depth to your minis. I'm mostly talking about the metals (blue or black inks will work wonders here, but thin them a little). The skin might also benefit from watered down brown ink. And again, I don't mean this as an offense.

You have a really good basis to start from. I think what lets you down the most is your tools. Finer brushes will really help you improve.

Oh, by the way, I really like the way you've made the Bolt Thrower look like actual wood. That's a nice effect there!

Keep it up!

Monsterzonk :skull:

23-04-2008, 19:36
pkay, thank you so much for your reply monsterzonk, i will definetly buy a new brush and ATM i also need another brown ink, but ill try to inc them using black inc on the chainmail to see what the effect is. and dont worry i aint offended by what you wrote, but rather the opposite. I am glad for anny responce i get that leads to a better painting teqnuice:D

23-04-2008, 19:49
Glad to hear that. Like I said, GW brushes are worthless. I only ever bought one (a so-called Fine Detail Brush), and hell, it's as big as the brush I use for the very first stage of basecoating after priming! So getting smaller brushes is probably a good idea.

Shading with inks is quite an easy method to get some depth to your models. I mostly use inks on metal areas (black for silver metal, brown for gold/bronze). I usually tend not to ink flesh or hair, as it often produces a slightly glossy look. If a model has very fine hair, I usually drybrush it in the desired tone before I paint anything else. If the hair is sculpted a little thicker (like on my Marauders) I paint it individually.
For skin I usually start with a dark undercoat. Dark Flesh most of the time, followed by Dwarf Flesh and Elf Flesh. For Elves I usually tend to undercoat the skin with Dwarf Flesh and highlight with Elf Flesh and that's it.
But those are techniques that require lots of practice and time...

I hope this helps!

Monsterzonk :skull:

EDIT: I took out the pics as I felt like hijacking your thread.

@Monsterzonk: It really didnt take me a lot of time to get those techniques to a fair level. I still havent painted any regiments like that, but Im doing single characters, a few troops and stuff, and its going great! (or so I think...) I think ol' man fraggzy only needs to give his minis a little more time at some of the painting stages, and some new gear (Ive seen his stuff live, it really isnt that impressive;)

@Fraggzy: Agree'd with Monsterzonk though, use his techniques, get some better brushes, and just feel your way towards a better result. I know I shouldnt be giving painting tips, as I am no profesional myself, but I try help as best I can!

Can wait to se the "remake" of the army!

hehe, sounds like the same has happened with me as with you :D This wizzard teleported mine away, so i can not find it... wish you luck in finding it ;)

05-05-2008, 19:32
just go buy another one... if its gone, its gone! Id let you borrow mine tho, but you havent asked...

15-05-2008, 09:26
hey man, I really like your High Elves, its a good thing you have done them all in a really good looking theme.
My only bit of advice for you is to use flesh wash on the flesh of your HE.
It will give them some more depth and if you are finding its too much on the flesh, just dry brush it.
And another good technique is to black ink chainmail, then just dry brush it with some mithril lightly.
Love the blog mate, and keep up all the good work!

15-05-2008, 10:11
thx for the advice, and i have done that on my "new" swordmasters, but almost 2 weeks ago my trensfer cable dissapeared so i havent been able to post them, but i will as soon as i can:D

22-05-2008, 08:24
So is anything else happening?

22-05-2008, 09:53
well, since my camera is gone too now i think ill go to Miguell's place and borrow his camera and take some pics of how the swordmasters now look.

Wach out for an update anytime now:D

22-05-2008, 13:57

I think im going to do the same thing after the exams are done ;)

keep up the good work

01-06-2008, 20:33
yay, found the transferr cable, and the camera!

so here comes the very, very, very...... very delayed update. I have been a bit lazy on the painting side lately as i havent been able to post annything:

my earlier swordmaster

as he looks now

and as a group (only used 4 of them)

so, cheers for the new update, ill work hard to give you some more, and dont worry, I will base the properly.. in time
(these were the first 4 i painted of them, so maby ill post some of the others, i think thay might be a little better painted)

01-06-2008, 21:41
well well... so fraggzy returns, after all these yea-... uh, days.;)

I think the skin needs some work still, if youve done any at all there. the metals look better, though it seems to me you left out some areas for shading. also, if you do a lighter metal colour for highlight than what is originally there, it will give a better effect. you could just add some skullwhite to the metal, thats what i did.

the blues looks a lot better when shaded and highlighted, i think you did a rather good job with those.

the rubys (or sumthin?) look a bit dull, there should be quite a few good tutorials in painting gems you might want to check out? i tried one i found in the old eldar codex, and it worked wonders on my swordmasters gems, though i need some more practise with the sheme.

finally, i think you should shade the sword a bit too. i havent done that myself, but i imagine it could gie a nice effect.

good to see your bak on track then!

Hey, thought I'd look around and i have a few tips for you:

1. If you aren't already, use black primer, it'll be better for the time being. Also, remember to always thin your paints.

2. The following article shows a great way to paint gold, and page 6 shows a good (the example isn't great but hey), way to paint gems.

Take these lessons and apply them to your painting. Good luck.

02-06-2008, 18:06
They're looking better for sure! Good job!
I think the rest of the metallics (ie. the blades and helmets) could also benefit from some watered down Black Ink. For gold metallics I usually use Brown Ink.
You've made some progress, so keep going!

Monsterzonk :skull:

11-06-2008, 06:11
okay, thx for all the tips on improovement.

i have been lazy lately and therfor i will not post an update of painted mini's, but rather of my new army: Skaven. (I bougth them from FurryMiguell:D)

Skaven are the coolest, smartest, best race and are superior to all others (in their minds:)) So watch out for a new skaven-update later in the week

11-06-2008, 10:31
huh, good luck repainting them mate! so-much-fur... :p (oh, for all of you that has problems understanding why my nick is furrymiguell: my greyseers name was miguell, so i wanted to call myself that when i was to play Dawn of War online for the first time. the name was taken, so the game came up with a number of alternatives including miguell and one of them was furry! if you ever in any online game see a guy with that name, hide!;)

Cant wait to see you get started again mate!

@Monsterzonk: what happned to your log? its dead?

19-06-2008, 17:12
okay, it has only gone, uhhh 9 days or so since i said i should update so here it comes, pictures of my (small) vermintide so far:

1 of my chieftans:

a clanrat regiment:

a warpfire thrower:

and all my units so far (mostly painted by FurryMiguell)

Im going on holiday now in 3 days, so there wont be any updates for atleast 3 weeks, maby more (nothing new there then :-D)
And I hope you dont become to angry on me, not ranking up the models propperly.

20-06-2008, 11:22
wait a sec... your going on holyday for three "days" so there will be three "weeks" until another update? why?

Take good care of my ratties!

20-06-2008, 13:44
I second the above comment. ??? Did i see you were going to repaint these?

20-06-2008, 14:37
Hes going on holiday IN 3 days! not FOR 3 days!!!

If Im brutally honest.... your skaven look nicer than the HE. I think the whole look suits your painting style more.

As has been said, try some washes.... a very watererd down black ink would go a long way to improve the chainmail... oop can see youv done that on the last lot... them piccies werent loaded before!

20-06-2008, 15:02
wait a sec... your going on holyday for three "days" so there will be three "weeks" until another update? why?

As TeddyC so nicely pointed out it stands, in 3 days (2 now:D) not for 3days

Nightsword: Yup, i think it stands somewere on this page that i will re-paint them as most of the paintwork has ben made by FurryMiguell.

TeddyC: thanks for the "brutal honesty". i too think that skaven might be a better race for me than HE.

So far im going for an Eshin based army, some assasins, 1 chieftan/greyseeer (1k/2k), gutter runners, nightrunners and some fancy weapons from skryre

20-06-2008, 21:30
yea. sorry bout that... huh...

and sorry bout the poorly painted skaven. this was my first army, and belive it or not, i was even worse a painter then... still good luck repainting them! My paintjob is way poorer than what you might do.

12-07-2008, 21:15
heey, im back from spain and ready (soon) to start working again, or atleast snap some more pictures of my skaven army. now i have added night runners, assasins, more normal rattmen and more!

27-07-2008, 15:40
okay, i admitt i have been a bit (??!!) lazy. I am working whole the summer so i havent been able to find energy left to paint much and post it, there will probably not be another update before the summer is over :(

04-08-2008, 09:13
Oh well,
I've liked it a lot so far and I hope it continues as think that you are making good work.

Keep it up

11-04-2010, 19:33
Okay, its time for a necro of this, as i dont feel like making a new log for my newest project.

I have been doing lots lately, but forgot that i had this log, however i wont bore you with a lot of average models, so im gona be updating my new project. "The inquisition" Im in the proces of building an exciting new inquisitor army. It will use models from Imperial guard and follow standard imperail guard rules. So far im thinking 1 valkyrie gunship, 30 inquisitorial stormtroopers (kaskrins) and one inquisitor with retinue, however this might change:)

The log will be slow going and i might not post often, but i will try to post whenever i have finished a new piece.

The first picture is the two wings on my valkyrie (almost finished). I just might also bring a better camera next time :p

12-04-2010, 23:34
Brilliant XD. Well, you may not need me saying cause your painting this in my store and I was sitting like 40cm away from you but... You deserve the comment for good work =3. Shows you can do so much better than the previous miniatures.

23-07-2010, 15:58
I did say it was going to go slow, but i didnt mean as slow as it has been :P

Anyway, here is the result of what i've been doing since my last post.

23-07-2010, 15:59
