View Full Version : Converted Norse and Tips...

Hey everyone, Ive recently started BB with a few mates and decided to start Norse. So after a few games, I like what I see. They can sorta deal it but not take it. The runners with their dauntless skill are sweet at taking down bigger guys with assists. And the beserkers are quite good with their Jump Up skill.

Anyway, does anyone have any pointers or tips or tactics with Norse? That would be greatly appreciated since Ive only started out and would like to get better at playing with the Norse team...

On an unrelated note, today I bought a box of 10 empire flaggellants since I wanted to see how they would look as a converted Norse team. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Should I have bought normal chaos marauders?

Finally, my list if anyone wants to see is:
5 Linemen
2 Runners
2 Throwers
2 Beserkers
2 Ulfenwereners

P.S.- This is after 3 rounds of the league :)

So any comments would be appreciated, as I mentioned I just started out and any tactical advice would be great :D .Thanks in advance :p

Hmm. Marauders would certainly be the norm, and would no doubt be a lot easier. Flagellants could work since lots of the figures actually have surprisingly good musculature, but you'd need some non-Flagellant heads to pull off a true 'Norse' vibe. I'd recommend Marauders heads obviously, or some bearded empire knight heads. Adding furs, as well as pads, would no doubt make them look Norse, but it's hard to envision them in the Flagellant robes.

At any rate, if you do start making them I would be greatly interested in seeing them, as I'm using the Flagellant bodies to make Hobgoblin Bloodbowl players.

Marauders seem to be the way to go..

In our clubs recent Bloodbowl league one of our members created his from them and added a Scottish twist

Thanks for replies. I think marauders would be the better way to go. Maybe only for the runners would I use the running flaggellant bodies but I agree that the robes look out of place. For the beserkers, I have marauder bodies and put on the cool looking flaggellant face mask thing, looks really good imo.

That Scottish team is fairly interesting, I like the chaos warrior helmets too. Ill try and post up pics when Im done. Any one else have any tactical or modelling advice?

I used marauders to make a norse team. I used the heads to make them different. As it comes with 4 of big helmet heads for champions, I used those heads plus capes to show the blitzers. As they are the glory boys and frenzy, only stands to reason they would be the flashiest. I used the bare heads with beards to represent the throwers (hair painted grey or white to show age and that the old timers would be the wiser ones with the good eyes. and the topknots to represent catchers/runners. I thought of them as being young (no beard yet) and trying to prove themselves by being reckless.
Mmmmm, I didnt do this but it could be doable, maybe try attaching the shields onto the backsto serve as a canvas to paint numbers on. On the blitzers, maybe even attach them to the arm.
Take dodge as often as possible to make blodgers and to make dodging out of tackle zones work more often. Your low armor will hurt you. Always have plenty of benchwarmers. For starters lots of cheap linemen and worry about the "specialists" later.
